Good games for bRamall and Scott in FL on Saturday
Attwell looks like is is flavour of the month. South cost Derby for Oliver and a decent midlands Derby for England
-
Interesting that Bond gets another PL game.
Good to have Harrington back amongst the appointments.
I wonder if Hooper getting Man Utd makes him a bit less likely for the League Cup final?
They release PL appointments on the Monday if there's a Monday night FA Cup game but not FA Cup appointments until the Tuesday if there's a Monday night PL game!
-
That particular pairing at Spurs has a smell of Cup final off of it if you ask me.
Another TV game for Jones who has improved a lot lately. Also somehow, another TV game for Coote while nothing for Gillett, Pawson etc.
Lennard had it back in 2020 so seems unlikely

Carabao or FA Cup Final ? More likely Carabao ( if he hasn't already had it ) because I think Tierney is favourite for the FA Cup Final.

Coote gets two KMIs wrong last Saturday, in this view I am joined by the Peter Walton in today's Times, and yet picks up a fixture involving the Premiership top of the table team. I don't know what magic charm dust has been sprinkled on him but I, as sure as heck, would like some too.
-
Pleased to see Darren Bond be given another chance. Hope it goes well the for him as he must realise the stakes are quite high for his onward promotion.
-
Ugh great we got Coote
-
With Oliver not on the city spurs game this pretty much guarantees him for the top of the table game (arsenal vs City) in a couple of weeks

No no no no no no no no - no double for us against The Other Team in Fulham then. Only hope that a traffic jam/slight twinge/sniffle/change of heart allows the 4th official to take over at last minute?
Yours sincerely,
Umbrage of Ambridge

This could be boom or bust for Bond…

Not only the top of the table team but against a team fighting for survival with a new Manager currently next to bottom. I'm gobsmacked at that appointment.

Tierney with Liverpool for the 4th time this season

Have we had Attwell yet this season?
Still waiting for another Michael Oliver appointment!

Away v Spurs I think if I remember correctly. Think it was on the Day where VAR had a disaster at Newcastle and at Chelsea w/Andy Madley.

In a reversal of preference, let's hope he is stirred to produce a great performance and not shaken by the magnitude of the opportunity.
-
Jones involved with another Leeds game away this time so wont need his usual parking space.
-
Tierney and Mason, oh dear! Awful combo.
Same referees for us all season
Oliver
Tierney
Attwell
Madley
Taylor
It's just been those 5 on repeat with Pawson, England and occasionally Coote.

Conversely, always happy to have Mr Cann involved in a Fulham game.
One of the finest assistants this country has EVER produced and one of the most respected for his achievements.

To be fair, that's around half the SG1 list - of the other half I don't think Gillett/Bankes/Jones referee Liverpool matches, Kavanagh/Harrington haven't had so many appointments, and the others have probably had fewer appointments than the others too due to either being less experienced or perhaps being nearer the end of their refereeing career.

Shows the poor pool of referees in the group. Pawson we should get more.

I wouldnt complain about it being the occasional appointment.

Must be a serious injury to Kavanagh as no appointments at all recently?

Everything or Nothing would have been a better pun!

He will be back when good and ready.

Craig Pawson in for Michael Oliver at Brighton on Saturday. Mike Dean replaces Pawson on VAR for Brentford v Southampton. Hope all OK for Michael.
Oh FFS.

What is the reason Gillett and Jones don’t referee Liverpool games? Bankes I can understand as a Liverpool-based referee, though don’t know if he supports either of the Scouse teams?

hopefully Oliver gets better soon!!!!

I’m sure Jones has done Everton before

Gillett supports Liverpool. Thinks Bankes does too. Perhaps Jones support one of them too. Bankes usually does the Liverpool charity games.
Being Liverpool based isn’t a reason as Taylor is a mile from Old Trafford and referees Man United.

Not since being promoted has Jones done either Liverpool or Everton

Interesting.
Rob Jones was never allowed to referee Tranmere games in the NL, presume due to being Wirral based, as he's not a Rovers fan.. Don't know where he hails from originally on Merseyside.
-
Tierney has been faultless at Wolves today, as he has been in general since the return from the WC. Hopefully a big game coming for him soon.

There used to be a rule commonly referred to as the postcode rule where referees didn't do matches where they lived whether they supported the team or not but it was ditched 5/6 years ago now. Example - any referee with a BH postcode couldn't referee AFCB. They could live at the other end of the county 50/60 miles away but still have a BH postcode so were ruled out, yet they could live 10 miles away with an SO postcode & referee them. I'd assume his NL days were when the rule was still in force.

He's absolutely fine. Just spotted on social media that he's just become a Dad - congratulations to him!
-
Oh well hopefully Oliver has a good game after being a dad
Any thoughts on Darren bond passing his prem test as this might lead him to being a regular on the select group if he passed hope he did it might be nice seeing a new name on the select group list

Firstly congrats to Michael Oliver. Wonder if he will have a few deserved weeks off. Dread to think who will take charge of Arsenal vs City with Taylor away if it’s not Oliver.
Pawson the only choice really on the Merseyside derby rules him out. Tierney did the FA Cup game between the two.
Attwell unlikely after United vs City.
Test for Gillett?

If Taylor isn't getting the final he'll get whisked home ASAP by PGMOL. If he/Oliver aren't available, could my favourite Simon Hooper get Merseyside, and Pawson on the Arsenal City game?
All to be revealed tomorrow!
Pawson did Arsenal only the other week vs Spurs (same week Attwell did City) and Taylor did Arsenal vs United even more recently. Imagine the PL will want Oliver back

I too was wondering how Bond got on. Hopefully silence on RTR and from what I read about the match in the newspaper this morning betokens good news.

Kavanagh now holding the boards up at Old Trafford tomorrow. Really long journey on his return ;)
-
Did Darren bond pass his prem test okay hope he does as it will be nice to see a new ref on the prem ref appointment rota
