Title: Give us back our thing-ies!
Post by: Acme Thunderer on Fri 23 Dec 2022 11:26
Where have our 'like / dislike / sad / funny' thing-ies gone? I've always liked seeing these when I've posted, even the 'dislike' ones (with an explanation) and I 've always been ready to include my own assessment via a thing-ie where I think it is justified. In my view, we need the thing-ies as the PL season resumes, so bring back our thing-ies please, we can't do without you!

I have mixed feelings. I did like them, but felt that in recent weeks the negative ones had been used more regularly and aggressively. At least I am now spared the shame of finding that I have inadvertently given a perfectly sensible post a "dumb" rating.

That is precisely why they ended up removed. I will speak to the rest of the admin team

Perhaps the list of available emojis could be revised and those which may cause offence removed, e.g. the "dumb" emoji. Just a thought.

Agree, lose any that can cause offence and ask everyone to play nice and disagree constructively.

Indeed.. bmb and her naughty step hasn’t been used in a while so let’s keep it that way!

Although I don't recall ever using it, I feel the "dislike" button had its usefulness.  However, perhaps a rule that if it is used then an explanation must be given.
I hope the "like" and "agree" buttons could also return.

I don't think we can pick & choose which we set, it's all or nothing. I'm pleading with the boys to vote my way and put them back - I'm actually having to reply to posts now!

Well one of you helped yourself to one of my bottles of cider last time it was used! You may return once I have found a new hidey hole for my cider!!

The post interaction feature has been re-enabled.

This was removed initially as the Admin Team noticed a number of members were abusing the system.
Please note that the Admin Team, and myself in particular, will be watching the post interactions very closely. If just one member chooses to spoil it for the rest of the forum, I/we will not hesitate to remove this feature once more.

Please don’t be immature. Please play nicely.

Oh, and Merry Christmas!

I've reached out to our website host support to see if there is any way the list can be editable. It doesn't seem like there is, but it's worth asking the question I think for any potential QoL updates in the future.

ANSWER: It's an all or nothing situation.

The Admin Team will monitor the usage of the post interaction system moving forward.
