Title: Postponed games
Post by: cwh on Sat 17 Dec 2022 17:47
It was interesting to note that all the Championship games were played whereas practically no other games took place - and I was just wondering why? -the weather being the same nearly everywhere - I suppose it is because the lower league teams do not have the resources (money, finances etc) to cope
Any other reasons?

Possibly lack of under soil heating has a baring?

Yes, undersoil heating.  I believe it is a requirement at Championship and above, hence why all but 1 of the League 1 games that went ahead today involved home teams that have played at that level.

Not sure it is right to say that practically no other games took place when 8 out of 12 League 1 games did.

ALL the home teams of the games played in league one have played in the championship.

I knew Plymouth had, but wasn't sure if the undersoil hearing requirement was in place when they were in it.

I wonder then  why Luton's home game with Millwall today, Sun, had been postponed due to frozen pitch

I guess the surrounding area of the ground and safety of supporters would also be considered - this might have been a factor at Luton??

Having been born in Luton and supported them for many years,I can't think this would be a reason, but wh knows?
