Title: S A HOOPER - Spurs v Leicester
Post by: TheThingFromLewes on Sat 17 Sep 2022 17:51
Excellent spot by Hooper for the penalty which could have easily had been outside but he was spot on..

Also, VAR doing its job by spotting Lloris off his line after saving the Tielemans spot kick.

Hooper is having an excellent game so far, letting the game flow and staying under the radar! Hope he keeps it up!

Excellent from Hooper once again…. If he carries this on he will deserve one of the big games.

Hooper has really carved out an excellent reputation for himself after a shaky couple of years in the top flight. Much more composed, respected and assured on the pitch and this is being evidenced by the games he’s been getting. No more mid table sides, he’s now refereeing the top teams and deservedly so.

Brilliant decision for the penalty. Confidently given and it’s good to see a referee stick to his award without reference to the ubiquitous VAR.

Certainly I would put Hooper in the top six of our in form officials at the moment.

VAR corrected a couple of wrongs from the camera side assistant quickly and efficiently, exactly how it is meant to work and some good advantages as well throughout - very good.  Unlike the Leicester defending which was honking.

Another very good performance from Hooper, he is the most improved referee in the last couple of seasons.
I would like to see him get a big game soon, only slight drawback seems to be Holmes on the line with another incorrect flag.
To be fair to Holmes it was a tight call unlike the one a few weeks back in the Villa v Man City game and this time  Holmes waited for Son to score before flagging only to be over ruled by var enabling Son to claim his hat trick.

Good again from Hooper. Good decision on the penalty and from Andre Marriner on VAR duty for the retake. Good decision for the disallowed spurs goal, a clear foul. Would be nice to see him get Man United vs Spurs in a few weeks. Although he should be given some better assistants. Adrian Holmes is letting him down.

Thought he had a good game
Couple of queries, disallowed goal, correct decision but seemed to be delayed as though he was waiting for confirmation.
Perisic righty cautioned for entering the pitch in celebration,I hope this continues when all the substitutes jump into the melee after  a goal is scored
