I participate in the Hungary NBI predictions league every year & every year I am reminded why I really shouldn't - my predictions are absolutely useless! That said I am currently 10th (up 3 places after last weekend) with 3 games to go, 3 silver round finishes, including last weekend, & 1 gold finish which is the highest weekly score of the season! I anticipate I'll be about 20th after the last 3 rounds!

It's worth remembering that SG2 refs have been used for some Championship semi-finals over last few seasons. However, Telegraph report that clubs likely to be involved have accepted offer of VAR so if that is used for Championship semis then I'd guess SG1 refs will very likely be used.
I'm not sure a retiring referee will get the play-off final. I don't think Michael Oliver has had the Championship play-off final yet so if he doesn't have international commitments I think he could get it (although I'm not sure if he referees Boro matches, if they happen to make it?)

I predict
Championship
Marriner
Oliver
Atkinson
Taylor
Final - Kavanagh
League two
Doughty
Breakspear
Toner
Drysdale
Final - Samuel Barrett
League one
Final - Josh Smith

I also think over last 5 years or so it's often not been the very top SG1 referees who have done the Championship semis, presumably in part because they have been used for some of the key Premier League games near the end of the season. There's plenty of those (plus FA Cup final of course) next weekend.
I think the semis might go to likes of Gillett/Jones/Bankes/Friend.

Yes, you are right. Michael Oliver has only done one Final - the L1 Final in 2008/9 when his dad refereed the L2 Final. So certainly a possibility this season depending on Boro + other commitments. dave26 - Chris Kavanagh refereed the Championship Final last season, so presumably won't be in the running this time around.

I wouldnt be surprised to see Hooper/Scott/Harrington/Salisbury involved with Oliver or Marriner getting the final if Moss isnt given the big send off.

As an Aussie I hope Jarred gets a play-off. I think Moss will get the Final as a send off after a good career.
L2 I hope Breakspear gets a game, I've watched many of his games and I like his style and he gets the big decisions right. Reading reports from the weekend he wasn't shy in telling Bristol Rovers that he would abandon the match if they didn't get control which is a sign of strength.

Is there really a suggestion Jon Moss would get the Championship play off final? I.e. the richest game in world football.

Why not? A select group official who is a safe pair of hands ,liked by clubs and retiring after long and very good service. Personally I think it would be a well deserved appointment.
