Title: Lee Probert, Palace v Burnley
Post by: Acme Thunderer on Mon 03 Dec 2018 09:17
Sorry Grahamexref, I've only just re-surfaced after my celebratory weekend (and not just the Palace). Stand corrected but I imagine my weekend was more celebratory than yours....?  ;D

And so to Lee Probert. In my view, he had a reasonable game. One blatant shirt pull by a Burnley player in the first half which I felt justified a yellow card (not given), although it was in midfield. This was highlighted later by a Palace yellow which was given just below me on the touchline for a 'nothing' challenge. Other yellow cards were fine. A tendency to nit-pick about the position of free kicks and throw-ins in midfield, which surprised me with Lee, but I've seen this already this season at Gresty Road, so perhaps the refs have been told to toughen up on this, I don't know.

So the Palace scored at last from open play at home and won, so two reasons to celebrate for the great majority of fans at the game. And Burnley? Sorry Graham but they were simply dreadful.

My far-flung friends and I have pencilled in our next visit to see the Palace - Burnley at Turf Moor on 2nd March. Hope they're starting to dust down the meat pies at the Cricket Club.  ;D

Many thanks AT for your report; as I suspected a very disappointing Burnley performance and a well deserved victory for the Palace.
Pleased to hear that Lee Probert is back in full flow, a very competent and experienced referee imo, who seems to be having an extended PL run at present.
As for March, well who knows how the table will look by then, not too much different I suspect. As for 'dusting down' the meat pies, I can only hope that a new year may bring some fresh pies and some fresh faces to the Turf !!!!.
Merry Christmas and a happy New Year to you and to Mrs AT.
