Title: PSG v Liverpool
Post by: Scally Bob on Wed 28 Nov 2018 22:03
I don’t know who that was tonight. I’m in the Parc des Princes utterly baffled.

I’ll give him a huge benefit of the doubt and say he was absolutely incompetent. If a Level 7 Referee missed the foul for the penalty and had to be told by an Assistant fifty yards away that it was a stonewall penalty I’d be asking is refereeing really for you.

An absolutely shocking performance. Gave a yellow for an obvious red for the foul on Gomez and looked star struck with Neymar who should have been cautioned for simulation. Neymar epitomises everything that’s wrong with these prima donnas.

Dreadful.

Couldn’t agree more with you. First half looked totally out of his depth. Improvement second half slightly but not elite standard unfortunately!

It was Szymon Marciniak from Poland.

Evidently he seems to be trusted to handle the big games....he was hopeless in the Spain v England match and although I've not seen this game in Paris, a similar performance is evident from what the posters on this thread have mentioned.

He wasn’t very good in the Spurs v Juventus game last season

Last season he was excellent but this season he's gone downhill. Shame because he looked so promising for a while

I would agree really - I thought 2016/17 he was one of the very best referees around and let's hope he can return to that level.

It will be interesting to see the knockout appointments because Skomina, Kassai and Marciniak have all given some rather unimpressive performances in the group stages.

Kassai has only had 1 poor performance, well his performance was decent enough apart from the awful KMI error, the Hungarian press have blamed Bognár for it not Kassai. He either called it, which I think he did as he clearly points to the spot with his baton and was speaking over the comms at the time he did so, or he let Kassai down big time by not saying no pen to him. He had the better view & whichever way you look at it he did not do what he was there to do!  Will be interesting to see if he is removed from Kassai's team, the next time Kassai is out.  Vad was removed from his team immediately after his big error in 2012 and I'd have to look back across domestic games but I think the first time he has been part of Kassai's team since then was earlier this season. I'd not be surprised if it's Farkas & Andó-Szabó or Farkas & Berke out with him on his next game.
