Feel sorry for Marriner on a pointless mid table game. Atkinson with a big game again. Another good game for Tierney.
Hooray Scott is back with a game - might be his last PL game of the season.
Pawson with Newcastle again - not sure how many times that is now.
Oliver and/or Taylor possibly in EL on Thursday.
Overall missed opportunities in this round of games to spread the games about
-
Mason returns with a fixture in League 2, and another game for Moss in the FL.
Atkinson with a mid table clash.....
-
Robert Jones must be getting fed up of board duties (x 2) again! ???
-
I feel sorry for Barrow and Newport County.......
-
Friend @ Goodison Park having had the reverse fixture where penalty given for handball controversially
-
unusual to see mason in league 2
shame jones, hooper, England, madley, kavanagh and banks couldnt have a fixture in this set of fixtures-hooper doesn't get a preml game that often
-
not a good set of appointments in my opinion
-
hooper doesn't get a preml game that often
We like Hooper at AFCB so we're not complaining!
-
For me, the lack of appointments for Jones and England suggests to me a better promotion system would have a small step between SG1 and 2. Perhaps a supplementary panel that could referee up to 5 games per season in the prem and then can transition seamlessly to the SG1 list when a space becomes available.
I am no longer intrigued by the appointments as Mr Riley is the most conservative appointer known to man. Mike Jones for SG1 manager!?!
-
You have to wonder what is going on with Rob Jones, almost seems that he has picked up a new role of specialist 4th official. Really not sure how he is going to develop standing on the side line twice every week.

Totally agree. I suggested something similar previously. They essentially do this when they're in SG1 anyway but the issue is that if they don't work out they are hard to demote. With an in between level this issue could maybe be avoided.
And I'd take Jones over Riley any day!

Germany uses that exact promotion system. A small group of 2. Bundesliga referees can do up to 5 Bundesliga matches per season. At the end of the season they are evaluated before a possible promotion.

We only have one FIFA spot left as well so unless someone is jettisoned in the next year or so, one of them will miss out.

Or we could stop giving the games to the likes of Atkinson Dean and Moss who have had their time and start giving these refs more games more often!
-
I dont think I have ever seen such a high number of appointments or big games awarded to a referee in one season as Atkinson has this season dont get me wrong its just an observation and his performances certainly warrant such rewards but there is plenty of talent for the big games and IIRC before the international break Atkinson took charge of 2 matches as a stand in
-
Makes me wonder if he's maybe going to retire at the end of the season?

Apparently ( according to Daily Mail ) Mike Dean was going to retire at the end of the season but he has done a U turn and is going to continue until at least the end of next season
-
Excellent.
Mike Dean is still an excellent Referee
-
I would not have been surprised if Mike had decided to call it a day after the goings-on at OT and Craven Cottage earlier in the season, but I too am glad that he has decided to carry on. Hopefully he will know when it is time to go and, when that happens, I hope he gets a suitable send-off, he deserves it.
-
what is the point of promoting madley jones England and hooper if they're not going to get a decent run of prem appointments
its more or less the same refs every week
-
According to the Premier League website, Stuart Attwell is now in charge of the big game between Arsenal and Liverpool.
-
According to the Premier League website there are a couple more changes.
Anthony Taylor takes charge of Leicester v Man City replacing Paul Tierney
Andy Madley replaces Anthony Taylor as referee for Villa v Fulham
Darren England replaces Stuart Attwell as FO at Chelsea
Craig Pawosn replaces Peter Bankes as FO at Leicester
Bankes replaces Oliver as VAR at Leicester
Chris Kavanagh replaces Andy Madley as FO at Man United

European game for Taylor this week?

European game for Taylor this week?
I would say most likely UEL and Oliver getting a UCL leg 2 match

I would say most likely UEL and Oliver getting a UCL leg 2 match
The only potential games in the CL for the English referees are the 2 legs of Bayern v PSG as the 3 English Clubs are involved in the other ties.
If either were involved, one of the 2 matches would probably more likely to go to Taylor I would have thought, but then he had PSG v Barcelona in the Group Stage so I suppose Oliver is a possibility. And as he has a PL game Monday at Wolves, it could only realistically be the return leg whereas Taylor's game in the middle is Saturday at Leicester.
Disappointed for Tierney that he's missed out on the big game Leicester - Man City. Is he injured or in quarantine do we know?

Atkinson out of commission too?
-
With the several changes its even more baffling why they couldnt move Rob Jones to the middle and give him a game
-
These should have been the appointments from the beginning

I don't think that UEFA will send Taylor to Munich. He did PSG - Barca on R16. More likely EL.

What on earth has Attwell done to his hair!??
-
Must've got impatient waiting for the barber's shops to reopen.
-
What on earth has Attwell done to his hair!??
I think it falls into the "can't defend the indefensible" category!

Yet still nowhere near as bad as Allison's 'tache ;D ;D ;D

It looked more like he got impatient waiting for the barber to finish.
