Big game at the bottom for linington @derby
-
What is the collective noun for a group of Darrens ? Three of them at Middlesbrough. Is there possibly a fourth who could have been appointed to get the full house ?

Surely it's a Can(n) of Darrens ?
-
Or ( for those of us of a certain vintage ) a Bobby of Darrens

Deadman lol. Drysdale realistically.
-
Except Drysdale, like Bond, is a referee and so could not have taken the other line. Are there any other Darrens operating as ARs in SG1 or SG2?

Webb to Bournemouth, Harrington to Cardiff, Linington to Derby, Salisbury to Watford, Bond to Cardiff midweek - I am a bit surprised at how many long trips have been given, considering we are currently in lockdown. I know it cannot always be avoided, but that seems like quite a few, when there are alternatives who live a bit closer.

One of the linesmen is travelling to Watford from Lancashire on Tuesday as well.

And Shaun Hudson from Sunderland making a round trip of over 630 miles to the Cardiff City Stadium on Saturday. This is Shaun’s first match at the Cardiff City Stadium, I didn’t think it would come in the middle of a pandemic!!

To be frank, travelling that distance for a non full time linesman at the best of times is excessive but during a pandemic it borders on madness

Darren Blunden is the only one I can recollect.

As are the assistants at Barnsley fair few miles on quite roads

I am happy to run the line at Crewe Alex if it will help! ;D
-
In a similar vein of co-operation and a genuine desire to help I also am willing to patrol the line at Portman Road. To offer to 'run' it would I fear be promising what I couldn't deliver. On reflection, Stockley Park is probably more suited to my abilities.

We could ask Mr Artis to come out of retirement!
-
Now now TTFL you old tease. The phrase " the last man standing and not even then" comes to mind.

Hehe!
Mr Artis was a regular visitor to Fulham and he failed to impress on every occasion. He really didn’t have the physique to run the line adequately... how he passed fitness tests was baffling..

The red card issued by David Webb to Lerma of AFC Bournemouth seemed harsh to put it mildly. It seemed to me that a Luton player knocked into Lerma as they both went up for the ball and Lerma's hand then caught the opponent's face quite accidentally as a result. I am apparently not the only one who thought that Webb made the wrong call here. If only VAR had been available. IMO the card needs to be rescinded.
-
And on missed red cards Linington failed to issue a standard 2nd yellow and i think it was Salisbury should really have sent Deeney off.
Good decision from Eltringham, Harrington's double yellow as straight forward as they come
-
Yes, Linington at Derby was particularly bad. Even Rooney looked puzzled and not a bit relieved that his player didn't have to walk. I think James will be hearing something further from his bosses about this.

JT was not impressed to put it mildly! He said the referee let us down with that call.
-
Given some of the tackles David Webb has adjudged to not be a red card in recent times, this one seems to be incredibly harsh.
-
The Championship highlights last night were awful viewing with Salisbury, Linnington and Webb all booking a place in the Chamber of Horrors

And unfortunately the dross in SG2 is amplified week in week out with horror shows which are too frequent in nature.
-
Add the missed Red card at the Middlesbrough V Birmingham game when at 0-0 of which would have been a massive game changer.

Darren England seems to be a blue eyed boy at present so I doubt any sanction will follow. Having made the howler of the season in Derby’s 3rd round F A Cup game last January he got away with it Scot free and was rewarded with promotion to the PL

For me, he is a really good referee, and there is no need to punish someone for that, especially if they bounce back with a great performance. i saw this video a few months ago that Mike Riley explained his thinking regarding decisions. He said that sometimes it best to let them get back out there and make up for it and sometimes it is not due to how major the mistake was.
Edited to fix the quote thingamajigga, bmb.

It's been rescinded.

Another blank for Robert Jones as Blackburn v Swansea is called off due to a waterlogged pitch (BBC).
