Donohue seems to getting a lot of praise recently and earmarked for the top...
However he has been very poor so far. A clear red card for Sorensen for DOGSO missed, Toney felled on the edge of the box and nothing given. Toney then gets a card for a challenge in retribution seconds later.
Some other baffling calls. This is the first time I’ve seen Donohue and he has failed to impress me this far.

I agree on the red card for DOGSO. It seems to me that Matt got a bit confused on whether the offence took place inside the area (yellow card) or outside (red), and once he had decided (correctly) that it was outside, perhaps with a bit of help from the AR on the far side, he forgot that a red card should then be shown. 1-2 baffling decision in the Championship, not least Gillett's award of a penalty to Watford (v Preston) which looked a clear dive.

Credit AR for getting the decision on IN/OUT correct. Should have been no confusion as even it had been inside, no attempt to play ball, red all day long.
2nd yellow was fine by me, challenge waist high for a bouncing ball, if you catch the man you run risk of further punishment.
OT - thought Simpson got yellow card right for 2 footed slide tackle in Read v BC

1-2 baffling decision in the Championship, not least Gillett's award of a penalty to Watford (v Preston) which looked a clear dive.
It seems to me that there were two options to eliminate diving - one was for referee's (supported by the law interpreters) to take a hard line and issue yellow cards wherever in their opinion a player had exaggerated the effect of a contact (even to the point of showing yellow at the same time as acknowledging the foul with a free kick) or to accept that successfully falling in such a way that in the opinion of the referee a foul had been committed was part of the game. The latter course has been taken so "diving" no longer exists, problem solved :'(

This happens in other leagues! NBI you still get booked for diving and I love it! You get booked for dissent as well even as a 2nd yellow as Szalai found to his cost yesterday! Took exception to being yellow carded correctly for a foul and voiced his opinion for rather too long so off he went!
