Post by: referee12 on Sat 29 Aug 2020 15:04

Being technical, it was the play-offs for qualifying for the Euros and the Euros themselves that were delayed, rather than Nations League - play-offs from March are now due to be played in October (semis) and November (finals.)

Is VAR going to be used for these games? I think that was the original intention but I know they've delayed bringing it in for the Europa League group stages until next season, presumably because of a lack of training opportunities due to Covid.

Waiting to see if there is going to be delays again! Hungary's borders close at midnight until at least 30th September - no in or out & not seen any exceptions for sporting events. I'm sure the MLSZ are working on an exception being granted!

I think it's excellent to see Frappart amongst the latest set of appointments. It is about time referees were promoted based on level of skill and not race, gender, sexuality or any other factor! I hope it goes well for her!

Enjoyed this ref's performance this evening. Very calm, in the background but made his decisions fairly and consistently overall in a quiet and understated manner.  Great communication with players, calmly explaining decisions, the lack of dissent was noticeable.  He's clearly experienced and it showed. I'm sure I have seen him before. He did fall for some Turkish play acting a couple of times but in situations where had there been contact it would have been on his blindside so them going down like a sniper had hit them influenced his decisions. None were major or game changing.  I did gain a bit of a soft spot for him pre-match when he gave his 2 AR's a kiss on the cheek, well I assume it was both of them, the camera panned to him as he gave AR1 a kiss and I just thought how sweet it was. Possibly not the wisest of things during this pandemic but they will have had 2 negative tests in the past few days or they'd not be there!

Absolute cracker of a goal for Hungary's winner: https://twitter.com/TomaszMortimer/status/1301617037966442496

Is there some rivalry requiring Cakir in BIH?

Eastern Europe is full of big rivalries, some of which stem back many centuries. Turkish occupation/Habsburg rule in the Austro-Hungarian Empire/Trianon Treaty - still a very raw wound 100 years on, then throw in WWII followed by the Soviet occupation and then the breakup of Yugoslavia from the 80's until fairly recently that saw many many horrendous atrocities - it's a powder keg there still in many areas.  Hungary/Turkey & Hungary/Serbia there is a strong hatred - nowhere near that of Hungary/Romania which is all out war. Hungary/Poland on the other hand is a brotherhood & a very strong love between the 2 nations. Everyone hates Romania - mainly down to Trianon. Everyone hates Serbia because of the Yugoslav wars etc. The axis powers siding with the Nazis in WWII caused huge divisions in the region that have never healed because they were followed immediately by the Soviet occupation. The wounds are still deep because of Independence for most of these nations being for only the last 30 years or less and in those 30 years was the horrendous Yugoslav war. It will take another generation before wounds start to really heal.

Is the referee in the England game trying to make a name for himself?

Is the referee in the England game trying to make a name for himself?

Aside from the disallowed goal, which is arguably more his fault than the assistant's, he didn't get much wrong at all.

Perhaps the change of law has something to do with it, but I'd be fuming if I'd have been penalised for either penalty, especially the handball. The Gomez penalty was soft and I can kind of understand why he gave it, but I thought it was more of a coming together. Thought it was a classic case of levelling up a previous mistake.

Don’t ask why I watched this game but glad I did!!

Never heard of seen anything about the referee but he looks young - can’t be much over 30!!
A terrific display: fully in control, excellent judgement of fouls. Good rapport with players. All 3 penalties spot on. Don’t know what level he’s at but I think he could well go much further!!

Pejito impressed me on the last edition of UEFA U19 Final Tournament. He even handled the final. A referee who is quite modern but isn't afraid to use cautions. A real talent. I hope to see him in Elite in a couple of seasons (he is currently 1st Group).

I am sure Mr Deaconu will be happy with what he saw out on the pitch from this youngish ref this evening. Barely even noticed he was on the pitch. Did get in the way a couple of times and had to jump over the ball but I can't think of any decisions that I thought were poor or completely wrong. He was helped by 2 overall well behaved teams more interested in playing the game than seeing who could get away with the most gamesmanship! It made for a good game to watch. Well Hungary's defending at times wasn't quite so good to watch granted but that's not the refs fault! Russia fully deserving of their win but a promising 2nd half performance from Hungary.

As an aside he can definitely be added to the list of potentials for bmb's top ref totty!!  ;D

I know red player is off the ground (what is that technique) but when he tackles its with one leg and does play the ball too. Correct yellow card for me and well handled by Coote

Why do players tackle like that? Few inches further right and he misses the ball, brings 2nd leg into play and gets sent off. Just no control in the tackle at all.
I agree, Coote handled it well, calm, with authority.

Nice to see Levnikov with a game. Seen him a couple of times in Hungary over the past year or 2 and he was decent in both games. Looks to be a good talent coming through.

Hoping for someone strong on the Serbia v Hungary game - it is likely to be a bit feisty with the history between the 2 countries!

Quote
The news is spreading like wildfire among the national frame members that there are 15 positive covidian referees in the NB frame, while another 5 referees are waiting for the result.
In the case, we contacted the MLSZ press department to see what precautions were taken to protect the referees.

As soon as the answer arrives, we will update our article.

I'm assuming they are including the NBII and NBII because there are only 16 referees in the NBI! Very concerning if there is any truth in it. Not sure what to make of it really, they are normally pretty good with articles and info but they are very anti Mr Puhl and sometimes it can cloud their judgement slightly.

As for Karasev... I'll play nice - there is now a decent referee on that game! ;)

It is possibly travel restrictions regarding Russia as the UEFA delegate has also been replaced.  Could be the same for Hungary, the borders remain closed overall and there is a spike in positive covid19 tests. Football is badly infected at the moment with the majority of clubs having reduced squads.

Unexpected appointments in League A. Probably UKR-ESP needed an Elite referee.

I think it is a great opportunity to try these refs out on the "bigger" games, never as much pressure without the crowd.
If they cannot manage these games they wont cope when you put a baying audience back in.

I think that it should be better to use younger referees and give them experience before a possible CL match.

Both Gil and Buquet are simply too old for the Elite Group.

I thought Rossetti was trying out some different things but maybe not radical enough to give the new generation a chance

An expected appointment for Pawson. However it doesn't change anything in terms of consideration by the committee. Experienced observer but not a very big name.

Taylor's appointment means that Rosetti was happy with his performance on the USC. And it confirms that in the eyes of UEFA Taylor is definitely on the "upper" Elite group.

Yes and No!

Love him as a referee and he is certainly one of the best going, so in those terms yes.  I am however very harsh and unforgiving when it comes to the NT games! I have still not forgiven Clatts for his (perfectly correct) booking of Gera in the Norway v Hungary play off match on 12.11.2015 and may well have mentioned it to him (translate moaned at) once or twice (translate dozens of times) in the intervening years!

Whilst there is a rivalry between the teams, it's actually not particularly hostile, there is a tentative friendship between the countries these days and there's certainly not the hatred that you would perhaps expect in the still early years post occupation. There is a rather strange kinship between Hungary & Russia. I can understand an elite ref for the game though with history in mind but to be honest that would be more needed in a game v Romania and possibly Serbia. Without both sets of ultras there though the Serbia game should be less hostile. A Hungary v Romania game will always be off the charts in terms of toxicity, the hatred runs deep.

It was about time there were a few English teams floating around Europe.

It’s disappointing that Taylor is still seen as the number one in UEFA’s eyes. Had Oliver had an important observer then there could have still be a chance for that ideology to change, but it seems it’s set in stone.

Incidentally, is Florent Batta the son of Marc Batta?

New referee for me to watch.

I have press tickets for tonight and Thursday but the travel is just too nightmarish so have decided to watch M4 sports instead!

Schärer is considered the best Swiss referee and a future Elite. He is on the committee's radar since last year and had some important observers (Vassaras and Fandel).

I can see why he is highly regarded. Barely noticed him tonight. 2 big calls, pen shout for each team, neither given & I think he was correct with both. Fitness excellent, movement around the pitch excellent, man management superb, a few yellow cards, mostly for Hungarian players, that were correct calls imo. Good game to watch, even better result! Bring on the Ruskik!

PS He wore blue, which is always a bonus with Missy bmb and was also rather handsome!

The only things that suit yellow are a banana, melon, lemon, flowers and anything mother nature determined to use it for. That big yellow ball in the sky us southern softies often see is also fine! On anything man or machine made - it is not!

Karasev and Bognar have been replaced. Not sure of the reasons.

Bognár it has now been confirmed it is Covid related. It's not been confirmed that he himself is covid positive just that the match officials and players in the ZTE v Honvéd game were exposed to covid19. It doesn't even confirm it's player/staff or match officials who has tested positive but Theodoros Georgio was also taken off the U21 game he was on as well. They were both on the match officials team on the ZTE game, none of the other officials listed with Bognár above were.

Yes!!

Might as well have not been there, didn't notice him & he was rarely needed.  Couple of deserved bookings for Hungary players for ahem forceful tackles!  Just for the fun of it as it didn't feel right not doing so I did yell at him long and hard about booking Fiola and that he should have booked the Russian player for diving!!! I chose to ignore the fact that Fiola arrived at the player 5 mins after he'd passed the ball to a teammate and that he took him out so much so his legs were at right angles to each other! Absolute bang on the money booking but I had to yell at him for something ya know! ;)  ;D

Apparently Russia are upset about a handball decision in the 57th min and have asked for Oliver to be made to take a lie detector test before being allowed to leave the country - info from a ordinarily very accurate member of the press so concerning. Surely if the Russian Fed try this the UEFA delegate will step in and say they do not have the authority to do so.

I find it scandalous enough that they are allowed to subject their own referees to this but if this turns out to be correct info then for me it is a line too far being crossed. Hopefully it was just bluster on part of the federation in reaction to failing to beat the 'unworthy Magyars' on home soil and they will actually think about how ridiculous it is, take a step back and not pursue this.

Do you recall the incident the Russians are complaining about bmb?  There was nothing in your earlier comments to suggest there was major controversy.

I have no idea what they are talking about. No incidents of surrounding the ref protesting loudly against something not given, no countless replays on the Hungarian sports channel so it surprised me. The Fiola tackle I think it was 15 times we saw that on replay with our commentators sucking in their breath and saying what a bad boy Fiola had been so even if I missed it in real time the replays would have caught my attention. Have asked my media contacts there to send me footage of it but no response from them yet.  I did remark to Tünde at the final whistle that Marco Rossi, shared a laugh with Michael Oliver at the end, something I have never really seen him do before. I don't recall any such incident and nor do any of the Hungarian media guys I have spoken to about this. Our TV guys are pretty good with highlighting incidents fairly - I've even checked on the anti referee media website to see if they mention it & they don't.  Heard from 3 different sources there now about the protest though, 1 guy who is on the board of directors at one of the big clubs & 2 journos, both well known there & normally accurate.

Maybe the Russians would like to put their forward line through same process to see why they only had one shot on target?
Or maybe the truth is theyre not very good?

Doesn't fit with the Russian native that all referees are corrupt & the only corruption in football is via them!

Still no footage from my friends in Russia! Waiting for our sports channel to upload the game so I can look and see if I did miss something. No further feedback on a lie detector test, just a comment of clear mistake, missed penalty and YC oh and that he prefers gulyás to borscht! I did reply to that one who doesn't! ;)

I really don't know how any referees can work in those types of conditions - we moan over here but it's a completely different level of insanity there.

Sorry bmb, I'm not clear who's making that comment - Russia, Journalists, U.E.F.A. ?

I found a couple of summaries or 'as it happens' reports of the match and could find no reference to controversy.  Very strange.
If there was a 'missed penalty', I can't believe it would be as bad as the one awarded to Denmark in the England game.

Sorry Ref Fan my unclear writing - I meant from the journalists I have been speaking with. They are the same guys who have told me many times of the time, date, place, who will be present etc for the ones the Russian refs have been subjected too and the results, well before they become public & have always been spot on with their info. One of them was quite concerned when he phoned me last night, he'd just come out of the post match briefing with the Russia manager & members of the Russian Federation & was concerned the effect of them pushing for this would have on Russia as a whole. He's been calling me between meetings keeping me updated but hasn't mentioned a lie detector test taking place. Via him I gather the Russian Federation have concluded there was a clear error and that was their basis for wanting a lie detector test.

Like you say nothing in any summary reports and I have been racking my brain trying to think of an incident.  I've spoken to about 10 Hungarian press guys, some of who were there, others who were watching the TV channel feed and none of them can remember anything happening as described by the Russians. Our TV guys might not be so good at getting decent angles but they're very good at doing replays of incidents and I don't recall any. Like I said above the Fiola tackle was replayed about 15 times and that was as stonewalled as they come, as our commentators pointed out, so they'd have done the same with anything controversial.

Well if that was the 57th minute incident, the 'as it happened' report just mentioned a shot being blocked.  Looks as if the player's arm was in front of his body with his back turned so can't believe it was making his body bigger at the moment the ball struck him.  And MO couldn't have had a better view!

The Merseyside derby awaiting him might seem a light relief.

ps  Actually, that second shot isn't so clear cut but it's difficult to work out which direction the ball went after it struck the defender.
I guess you'd have to see it in real time or slo-mo to get a proper perspective.

One more image & it still doesn't show contact.

My Russian man is telling me to not pause and because you can then see the deflection & I'm pointing out that any deflection is irrelevant without knowing the exact point of contact which is not necessarily his arm & they have not provided anything that clearly shows a handball!

Looking at the angles, if the ball did strike the arm while it was outstretched, I suspect only the AR would get a view.

Did the Russians appeal strongly at the time?

The Russian player who kicked the ball flung his arms up briefly, then put them onto his head and then carried on, all in the space of about 2 seconds - no-one else even made a murmur.

The images are not conclusive but if the arm is outstretched then the body is becoming bigger. Difficult scene but I suspect that the UEFA observer will back Oliver here.

It seems that Oliver's positioning is as good as it could be, however, he would not be able to see whether or not the arm was extended because he can't see through the player. The AR should have seen it but perhaps thought that everything was normal. You can't give what you can't see ---or have they changed that these days?

But we still don't know for sure where and at what moment the ball struck the defender unless I've missed something.

Good point Ashington 46 about Oliver's restricted view.  From the first still picture, I had assumed the ball had hit the nearside of the defender to Oliver.
Look at the position of the Russian attackers  - I can't believe there wouldn't have been a strong and concerted appeal had the ball clearly struck the arm, and it evidently didn't occur to bmb anything was amiss.

I have looked up various Russian media sites and even googled (in Russian) Oliver and 'lie detector', but have found nothing relevant.  Indeed, I found only one match report that even mentioned the hand-ball incident, and that merely noted that there was no VAR.   It is true that the Russians have a long and undistinguished tradition of conspiracy theories relating to adverse refereeing decisions: I once read a long and detailed explanation of why Graham Poll awarded a penalty against Russia in the closing stages of a World Cup qualifier; this worked only if you assumed that Mr Poll had an encyclopaedic knowledge of Russian politics.  On this occasion, however, I am inclined to think that the lie detector story is our old friend fake news.

The Times today has a front page article on similar lines, although relating to the possible side-effects of the proposed Oxford Covid vaccine rather than any decisions made by Michael Oliver. If the Russians are to be believed, then we shall not have to worry about bailing out clubs in the EFL as there won't be such a League or anything else to do with football in the future!

He's from Moldova where it is a fairly common name.  I doubt he would be allowed to be on the game if he is of ethnic Russian origin, same as Kovács István can't referee Hungary because although Romanian he is ethnic Hungarian. See history lesson below! ;)

History Lesson! Moldova was part of the USSR/a satellite nation of the USSR as was the majority of the Balkan region. Having originally been under the rule of the Ottoman empire, it was ceded to Russia in the early 1800. It had a spell where it joined with a neighbouring state to form Romania in the 1850's. Prior to the Trianon treaty it chose to become an autonomous state of Russia before declaring independence and rejoining with Romania a year or 2 later, before Trianon was signed. Russia disputed this and in 1940 it was returned to being a Russian state under some treaty or pact. It remained as part of the USSR until it fell in 1991 and has been independent since.  It has an ethnic Russian population as well as ethnic Romanian, Polish, Bulgarian, Ukrainian, Belarusian & German populations. It is on friendly terms with Russia but also with Hungary and I believe the majority of the Balkan region. It's a small, friendly & inoffensive country trying to find it's own way after a few short years of indepence. /End of history lesson!

Thanks for that bmb. Last year I became friendly with a Hungarian crew member on a cruise ship because of my love for languages and we were also both football fans. I find it quite strange that the observer has less refereeing experience than the referee he assesses. For example Antonov had only a few Qualifiers without a Group stage match on the (old) UEFA Cup. His experience today would classify him as a 3rd Group referee.

I suspect that is similar for a lot of the observers from the smaller nations, they have tended to be less higher profile than their bigger nation counterparts in part down to the difference in the levels of domestic football. It's why we all start at Group 3 and the bigger nations start at Group 2. I have observed at a higher level than I ever refereed at but I don't think that matters too much as long as you are good at your job and are empathetic, fair minded and honest. You either understand the pressures or you don't and if you do then you have the foresight needed to offer constructive criticism in keeping with those pressures.

The history and subsequent ethnic make up of all of the Balkan countries is fascinating. They have all been under one rule or another until the last 30 odd years whether it be the Ottoman Dynasty, Roman empire, or the USSR and various others in between and the borders have changed regularly leaving so many displaced groups across the region. Thankfully the borders are fairly stable now although there are still many border disputes alive! Each country has varying degrees of ethnic minorities from probably 4-5 of the surrounding countries, some integrate better than others. Hungary has a number of previously Germanic regions, including one area of Budapest. The further out you go near the borders the more diverse the ethnic make up can be, you can have a Germanic village, next door to a Croatian village and a Slovak village a few miles away, next door to a Romani (Roma not Romanian) village. Go 50 miles in the other direction and there can be a Serbian village near an Austrian village! Some still speak their ethnic languages, like the Hungarian ethnic populations in both Transylvania and Székely in Romania are Hungarian speakers for example. Some speak a mix of their ethnic language with the country they have ended up being a part of that has grown into a regional dialect. Most Hungarians would not understand Romani-Hungarian as one example - it a completely unique dialect made from Romani, Hungarian & Romanian, Romani from Romania would not understand it either, nor would Romanians.

The citizenship test in Hungary you have to know the history of the region right back as far as Árpád and the 7 chieftains riding on their horses into the Carpathian basin in 895! The Árpád dynasty and the Hungarian Royal family, through to the Ottoman empire, the Habsburg dynasty etc. With 1125 years of existence there are a lot of wars to learn about and the border changes were more frequent than my teeanger changes his socks! Just don't mention Trianon! ;)

I don't know if it makes any difference, but Vladimir Yevgenyevich Antonov's full name suggests that he is probably an ethnic Russian.  And before 1992 he officiated as a Republic category referee in the lower tiers of the Soviet league system.  I suspect that his somewhat unexpected appointment is to be ascribed to logistical factors.

His full name certainly does suggest ethnic Russian, I agree. I do not doubt his professionalism and I suspect if he was purely appointed for logistical reasons when ordinarily he may be prevented from being appointed due to ethnicity he'll no doubt face a degree of scrutiny from those higher up the ladder to ensure absolute fairness.

As said before, if a referee is to be used it must be because they're 'good enough' - referees at the Euros normally do at least two group stage games. There are obviously slightly different level of match but I don't think you can just plan on giving a referee one game between two teams who are knocked out. They either have to be at the same level as the others and referee at least two matches or not referee at all.

Indeed it will be interesting to see if they demote one of the German elites, tough on Aytekin being injured, Zwayer I must say I thought was a good prospect for the elite level, himself and Makkelie I think were promoted at the same time, look at the difference in where they are now!

I wonder about Collum, given his recent performances I am surprised that he got this game, I wonder will the influence of Dallas keep him his elite spot, surely he won't be selected for the Euros in any case? I also wonder if Robert Madden has any chance for promotion to elite? A year older than Collum I think but has had a CL game this season - unlike Collum.

Can I add to others sentiments, it is great to see Frappart and Monzul breaking through at this level in mens football.

Zwayer in League C is rather weird. His Elite status seems at risk. Sidiropoulos also with a low-key match.

Nice gesture by UEFA to appoint Shmuelevitz. Probably his last match.

I think in reality it is more likely that there is one German demoted, Stieler promoted to replace, Collum demoted (maybe) and Ekberg promoted as well as an Italian. Where would people rank Madden I haven't seen much of him recently is he a candidate for elite over Collum?

I had no idea Gestranius is a card shark.. four yellows in 18 minutes then a straight red to the Luxembourger which the linesman gave despite Gestranius gesturing no penalty.

Looks like the Luxembourger made a genuine attempt for the ball.. should have been yellow.

Strange performance so far....

I would have to defer to edy's knowledge on that. My only reason for including him was as it seems Collum could well be demoted and I would be surprised (perfectly willing to be corrected as I don't know this) that due to the influence of Hugh Dallas Scotland will not lose an elite referee spot. Also I believe he does have a decent number of CL appointments over the last few seasons.

Yes he is too old.  They don't tend to promote anyone over age 40 to elite because they do not have any time otherwise to get the experience at the very top level Internationally before any tournaments. It's one of the reasons Hungary won't have an elite ref for another 3-5 years or so. Our 2 experienced Group 1 refs are too old, one is always injured and the other only done EL games.

Cyril Zimmermann replaced Kyros Vassaras as the observer for the Hungary match today.

Is this because Mr Vasseras knew bmb had been denied permission to travel & didn't want to be there if I couldn't also be there? ;)

Exactly. His exact words to Rosetti were "If I don't get to have lunch with bmb, I am not going. Send someone else".  ;)

League B - Group 3
15 November 2020, 20:45 CET - Budapest (Puskás Aréna)
Hungary - Serbia
Referee: Glenn Nyberg (SWE)
Assistant Referee 1: Mahbod Beigi (SWE)
Assistant Referee 2: Andreas Söderqvist (SWE)
Fourth Official: Mohammed Al-Hakim (SWE)
UEFA Referee Observer: Kyros Vassaras (GRE)
UEFA Delegate: Michal Mertinyák (SVK)

No complaints with Mr Nyberg. He just got on with it. A couple of common sense decisions from him in more minor fouls.  2nd half was pretty dire to be honest, although to be fair that was not down to him! Was watching with Mr bmb & a couple of Serb friends (we were all talking on Skype so not physically together) and no yelling the refs way from either set of fans which is always a good sign for a ref!  He wore blue.

The only time I remember him being mentioned was when one of the Serbs said to Mr bmb "well we know he's not one of her bits of ref totty - he's blond" and they both laughed! Not very nice really is it!

Yes I am reading comments along the lines of "three crucial mistakes but excellent control and player management" seems he also called a penalty correctly and disallowed a goal correctly (just what I've read I did not watch the game).

Sounds like a rare poor evening for the French referee who I think has been in good form of late. I'd be interested to hear from anyone who saw the game on what they thought?

League A - Group 2
15 November 2020, 20:45 CET - Copenhagen (Parken)
Denmark - Iceland
Referee: Halil Umut Meler (TUR)
Assistant Referee 1: Mustafa Emre Eyisoy (TUR)
Assistant Referee 2: Ibrahim Çaglar Uyarca (TUR)
Fourth Official: Koray Gençerler (TUR)
UEFA Referee Observer: Martin Hansson (SWE)
UEFA Delegate: Jānis Mežeckis (LVA)

What a shame!! He was having such a good game, no problems whatsoever. Liked his control of the game. Big decision in first half - penalty for Denmark, absolutely correct.

Last minute of the game 92 mins, cross to the back post and striker heads it down, defenders arms go up to turn his back on the ball and he gives a penalty. It actually hit him at the top of the middle part of his chest. Penalty scored and Denmark win 2-1. An unfortunate mistake to cloud what was an excellent performance!
Has to go down as a clear KMI mistake which means a lower score but observer Hanson will be pleased with what he saw overall!

Szerbia 5-0 win!! So happy for my Serbian friends - they avoided relegation and helped Hungary finish top of the division.  Beating Turkey played a big part in that as well of course! Hungary promoted to the A division!

I LOVE THE NATIONS LEAGUE!!!

My beautiful Serbian man was happy with Taylor and team - he's been knocking back the pálinka! He's 4 shots ahead of me - scandalous! My Serb that is and not Mr Taylor!

The Slovak team on the Hungary game were fine. One absolutely dreadful offside call from AR2.  Ball played deep in one half and I mean literally just outside the penalty area where Dibz was, touches no-one and finally comes down about midway into the other half and he gave offside against Niko I think it was! He's going to be very embarrassed by that when he watches it back. That was really the only very poor decision though & wasn't a game changing one.  It was earlyish in the first half & he was fine for the rest of the game. Mr Glova was rather camera shy tonight though which was rather disappointing! Someone from the Federation was operating the board so didn't even see him for substitutions!

The weakest of the elite officials out in tandem. Not a good sign for both IMO.

They also have very insignificant observers…. so perhaps minds are made up as to their status at the end of the year?

Annoyingly the Kazakstan game on 29th I think clashes with the GAWA v Hungary game!
