Title: NBI Season 2020/21
Post by: bmb on Wed 08 Jul 2020 12:50
The new season kicks off on 15th August. The fixtures are not out yet, probably next week for those to be announced. It was 4 weeks before the season started last season. I thought for this season I would add in all the info stuff at the start of the thread so it's easy to find.

There are 12 teams and the season lasts for 33 games. Each team plays each other 3 times. The normal home and away tie and the 3rd game is determined as being home/away by league position in the previous year.  The higher placed club get the extra home tie and the lower placed club get an extra away tie.

As an example: Ferencváros who won the league will get an extra 11 home games, Paks who finished 10th will get 9 extra away games plus 2 extra home games, with those coming against the 2 newly promoted sides. MTK Budapest will have the home advantage in their 3rd game v Budafok as they were promoted as champions in the NBII.

The bottom 2 teams will be demoted to the NBII.

If 2 teams end up on the same number of points the position is decided in this order:
1. number of wins
2. goal difference
3. goals scored
4. points gathered against each other
5. goal difference against each other
6. away goals against each other
7. better fair play position in the league
8. random draw

European places:
The league Champions go into the Champions League qualifying stage.
2nd place, 3rd place & the winners of the Magyar Kupa go into the Europa League qualifying stage. If the team who win the Magyar Kupa also finish in one of the top 3 spots then whoever finishes 4th will take the final Europa League spot.

In the Magyar Kupa:
In the early rounds of the cup games the lower division team is always at home. When the draw is made, they don't do it 1st team out of the hat is at home and 2nd away, instead they get the pairing of teams and then the lower division team are made the home team and if the teams are in the same division then the 1st out of the hat is at home.  This is for 2 main reasons, firstly the home team gets the revenue so it's a way to ensure any monies made go to the lower division team, who like here, need it more than the bigger clubs but it's also the Federations way to encourage supporters to go along to non league and lower division grounds. Nice way to do it, imo. The latter stages of the cup are 2 legged (from round 9-11) so each team gets a home & away tie.

There are 12 rounds in total. The NBI clubs join in from Round 6. The most important rounds are Round 9 - the last 16, Round 10 - quarterfinals and Round 11 - semi finals. The final reverts back to a single leg and is played at the National Team Stadium.

The away goal rule comes into play during Rounds 9-11. A game will only go to extra time/penalties if both teams have the same number of away goals. Throws me every year!!

NBI referees don't typically referee any matches until Round 9, the earlier rounds are normally handled by the NBII & NBIII referees.  There are no AAR's in the early stages of the cup, they start from Round 9.

In general

They structure the leagues so that each tier of the game kicks off on different days/times. You could across a weekend go to a non-league game, NBI, NBII & NBIII game with no clash of kick off times etc The lower league teams (NBIII & below) never have evening games because they don't have floodlights. A lot of the grounds are literally a field - it's great!

VAR plans have been scrapped for this season so we will continue with AAR's for season 2010/21. VAR is now planned to be introduced from season 2021/22.  The MLSZ hope that trials of VAR will start in the Spring season of 2020/21 and used to iron out any technical issues, whilst simultaneously acting as training games for the referees and of course our National TV channel who have to increase the number of cameras at a ground quite significantly! Currently we have 1/2 cameras on the same side of the pitch and maybe 1 each end. That will be increased to a minimum of 12.

The framework of the NBII referees changes this season. There will be an “A” frame made up of young people who will also receive a monthly availability fee, they will not be full time but this is the pool of referees that will be the potential next generation of NBI referees. Then there will be a “B” frame, i.e. older referees still good enough for the NBII but who are highly unlikely to be promoted to the NBI. This is a very positive step forward and will hopefully work in a similar manner to a talent group. It means the MLSZ are taking steps to ensure that the next generation of referees are being trained and gaining the experience needed ready for the NBI.

They won the 1964–65 Inter-Cities Fairs Cup, after defeating Juventus 1–0 in Turin, and have won the NBI 30 times and the Magyar Kupa 23 times. They lost to Leeds United in the Inter-Cities Fairs Cup Final in 1968 and to to Dynamo Kiev in the final of the European Cup Winners’ Cup in the 1974–75 season.

For this reason alone they are hated and mocked in Hungary with the vast majority of fans refusing to use the made up name and simply referring to them instead as Felcsút. However, the start of World War II under the regime of Admiral Miklós Horthy saw ZTE’s field and equipment confiscated. After the war, in 1957, ZTE merged with two other local teams, signalling the rebirth of the club.  It was 1994 before ZTE were able to get any real stronghold in the top flight and their only championship win came in season 01/02. In the 2002–03 UEFA Champions League qualifying phase ZTE defeated Croatian champions NK Zagreb on away goals. In the third qualifying round ZTE were faced with Manchester United. In the first leg, ZTE provided a stunning shock by winning 1–0 in Hungary with a last minute goal from Béla Koplárovics. However, in the return leg at Old Trafford, Man United were convincing 5–0 winners. In season 2006–07 ZTE finished third securing a place in the European competitions of the Intertoto Cup 2007.  They were eventually relegated to the NB2 in 2012 and this is their 2nd season in the NBI.

They have never won the championship.  Diósgyőr have many passionate fans and are one of the most supported clubs in Hungary. Budafoki Munkás Testedző Egyesület (Budafok workers bodybuilding association) more simply referred to as Budafok. Budafoki Labdarúgó Club debuted in the 1945–46 season of the Hungarian League and finished ninth. Like most Hungarian clubs they have undergone a number of name changes over the years (a lot were enforced under communist rule). They remained in the county level leagues until 2016-17 when they had their first season in the NBIII, they won the league and achieved back to back promotions, entering the NBII for season 17/18. They finished 14th and then 16th in season 18/19. When the league was suspended in May 2020 due to covid-19 they were in 2nd place in the NBII and have therefore been promoted as runners up.  They play in a field! Not quite sure how their ground has been passed for the NBI, it is literally a field with an athletics track around the outside and 1200 seats! Impressive array of solar panels. It has undergone several upgrades including a roof being added to the stand over the past 5 years, there are floodlights but don't think there is undersoil heating, although that could be being added ahead of the season starting. It looks fantastic and is on my to visit for a game list for this coming season!

What really good ideas. Would like to see some of these brought into England. Would revolutionise the game I think!

What really good ideas. Would like to see some of these brought into England. Would revolutionise the game I think!

I absolutely love how the cup draw works. Great effort from the Federation to get fans to visit lower league grounds and to try and help trickle some of the money to the lower league clubs. I have visited a couple of ace fields in the earlier cup rounds! One match I went to was in a public park, trees all around the pitch, random dog walkers passing by, it was beautiful! Our manager had brought a fold up camping chair with us for me to sit on!

The staggered kick offs are great as well. NBIII is Saturday morning, NBI Saturday afternoon and NBII Sunday afternoon. County games tend to be Sunday morning. Had a few Sundays where I went to watch one of my 2 non league clubs (BAK & Hunreal) in the morning and then onto watch MTK or Vasas in the NBII after lunch. I have never been to a single NBIII game though! Travel is so easy as well - the metro and tram systems in Budapest are superb, combined with an excellent bus service if needed & all on the same travel card. I tend to get a 72 hour travel card, for 4,150Ft (about Ł10) or the 24 hour one for 1,650Ft (about Ł4) depending if I'm just going to Saturday NBI games or going to games on Sunday as well. Valid on all the trams, metro, buses and some of the over ground trains as well. Such good value. I have a stack of them, you validate them before the first journey and that is when the time starts to run on them. The metro runs with trains every 5 mins maximum on the bigger lines. I have literally seen a train pull out as I arrive and by the time I have finally pottered down the stairs (I walk at a snail pace even with aids!) I have got on the 3rd or 4th train that has come through! The only downside is disabled facilities are not always so good so I do sometimes have to use stairs which I struggle with, in some stations and the escalators tend to be quite steep and set about 4 times the speed they are here in the UK so getting off them when able bodied is a dangerous enough task so for me who is disabled it can be very hazardous! All part of the fun!

You can still drink (and smoke if so inclined) in all of the grounds. Lovely in the summer to sprawl out in the sun with a pint of cider!

Our level of football may well be technically lower, anything from league 2 to mid championship level in the NBI but it is such an enjoyable experience overall. Mr Csányi is a very good Federation president, he loves Hungarian football and whilst we are becoming far more professional in the top flight and we have some wonderful stadiums now, thanks to Mr Orbán, it does retain the core football values. Prices remain low, Ł3-6 for a top flight match, less than Ł1 for a pint, about 50p for a hot dog. We get a lot right in those respects.

We also have a lot of issues - racism and homophobia is common place and not enough being done to combat it. There is still a hooligan element with the ultras although they do keep it amongst themselves with organised fights away from the grounds and never involve non ultras in that side of things. There is huge retribution within their ranks if they attack non ultras, the cappos simply do not allow it. I don't agree with the violence, it's like the bad old days of the 80's here apart from it being so organised and not widespread but kept amongst themselves which I can respect. National team games, if I ever go as an ordinary fan (I do tend to go in the press box or the posh seats normally) but when I do go simply as a fan, as a disabled, foreign female I get looked after and protected by the ultras, normally 4 of them. 1 either side of me, 1 in front and 1 behind walking to and from the stadium. They do however always get me very drunk!! Never refuse pálinka, it's an insult & can get you in more trouble than accepting it!!! But the 2l plastic bottles they hand you with clear liquid while shouting pálinka at you is inevitably home brew apple pálinka, about 95% proof, tastes like rocket fuel & is lethal!!!! Thankfully they have always escorted me back to my hotel & put me to bed fully dressed!

We also have a lot of suspicion of corruption at a high level. The very incestuous club ownership, ground ownership, all NBI clubs owned now by someone sympathetic to the government/Fidez, (apart from Lilák who are in talks to sell currently) loosely connected via a sporting company whose records are well hidden but seem to have a few subsidiary companies, tax schemes that look a bit iffy, shared sponsors and various government grants. Money seems to constantly change hands within a very small circle and certainly doesn't look good which is why the suspicions of corruption often surface. Whether there is actually corruption I have no idea but I can understand why there are the suspicions. When Balmaz went bust last season that open a whole can of worms about where the money had gone. I don't believe Mr Csányi to be corrupt,I think he is a good man and I certainly don't think it extends as low down as managers/players or our referees, if it does exist then it's at the ownership levels and not below them.

Would love to see that with the cup draws. I think our KO's are about right although more needs to be done in terms of travel for away team fans particularly when kick offs are late or Sunday/midweek.

Hopefully, we will see teams start to make football more affordable again. Some of the prices to watch the professional game is ridiculous particularly the Championship/Premier League, especially in London!! Some good initiatives have come out in the past few years. Hopefully with safe standing that should bring back the atmosphere. That's why I love non league games as you can drink on the terraces too!!

I love Budapest! Went for the first time last OCtober - it was amazing. Everything, the scenery, the architecture, the history, it was clean and the people were so friendly. We went first week of October, and it was sunny 20+ the week before we left and the week after but the 5 days we were there we had wind and rain and the top temperature of 12C. How unlucky!!

We were going to go to the Ferencvaros v Ludogorets game in the Europa LEague on the Thursday but we were on a Danube river cruise for 2 hours from 5pm (seeing the lovely sunset). Glad we didn't go as they got hammered 3-0 and the locals weren't happy afterwards when we went out for food!

The downside to the cup games is you can get games at midday in the middle of the week because of when the park is available for use and the fact no-one has floodlights so games can only be in the day time. That can take away fan availability to attend but the domestic game has only a small number of core fans anyway.  Mr Csányi when he made the announcement that football was returning after the covid break made a joke about it being behind closed doors, saying that league attendances over the years had fully prepared Hungarian clubs for this moment & there were several who wouldn't notice the difference! It's a shame really because it's great fun attending matches there but youngsters want PL, Bundesliga quality football as they can widely watch on the National sports TV channel. Sadly they don't realise that by attending and supporting the domestic league they will actually help it to keep growing. It has grown so much in the 10 years or so that I have been watching it.

We do have a bit of a non league vibe going on even at our top flight if you compare our league with the UK ones. It's one of the things I love so much about it. It is football and social any tainting by money is way above the actual football's level in the scheme of it all. It doesn't impact the fans anyway! I think it was AFCB's 2nd season in the PL that the cost really hit home to me, it was about Ł30 cheaper for me and my son to fly to Budapest on a Saturday morning, watch Lilák that afternoon, Hunreal on the Sunday morning and Vasas on the Sunday afternoon before flying back on the last flight on the Sunday and I mean including flights, travel to and from the airports, hotel, food, travel to the games and ticket cost than it was to take a train to Manchester and get tickets for the Man Utd away game. The hotel I use is a 2 star place, they virtually pay you to stay there but it's a great location for travel, the staff are ace and it's always clean, tidy & comfy and I do get a discount there. Free travel to and from there for the airport as well. Lilák I never paid for a ticket & they would also feed us a big lunch and the chef would send me away with food for that evening and sometimes the next day! If I had to pay for those on top it would have probably been the same price but even so, what I got for my money was way better value!

Budapest is beautiful, it is my favourite city anywhere in the world. Debrecen and Esztergom are pretty high on the list as well and Pécs which is where my Hungarian family are based. The best time to go in October is so that you are there for the 23rd. It is the biggest national holiday, so many festivals and things going on. It's the anniversary of the 1956 revolution and our Independence day. My son loves being there that week as he feels the whole country is celebrating his birthday! Oh my the food is amazing! This year travel restrictions permitting we will go that week (it's normally half term week) and then on the 24th go to Debrecen ready for Szent Dömötör Day on the Hortobágy, which is on the 25th. Never been there for that one although I always watch the videos afterwards - I am beyond excited for that!! I absolutely love the csikös.

If you go again and plan to take in a game, let me know when you will be there & I'll tell you what the game of the weekend is. Fradi are our top team by far and in terms of footballing ability yes they are the team to watch but it's not necessarily the best atmosphere and all round experience.  Their far right ultras have also returned to games recently with the aryan greens flag being back on prominent display, not a good thing to see and it makes for a hostile, intimidating atmosphere, completely the opposite to the normal welcoming Budapest you'd expect. Plus Fradi v Kisvárda for example would be a complete bore in comparison with MTK v Honvéd, the latter being one of the lesser Budapest derbies. There are 5 Budapest clubs in the NBI this year - that's a lot of derby matches! The best derby will always be Fradi v Lilák but only if both sets of ultras attend, they make it what it is, looking forward to experiencing the MTK v Fradi derby live as well this year!

Felcsút v Honvéd postponed after 1 or more players from Felcsút tested positive for coronavirus.  The players concerned have been quarantined and the rest of the squad have been re-tested and will have extra tests over the next few days. The Federation called the game off because they wanted the players who tested negative to be re-tested at least once before being allowed to play as a precaution. Federation quick to respond and enforce precautions. Wonder if this will impact on their UEL qualifying game?

As for refereeing performances:

MTK Budapest v Ferencváros - Referee: Solymosi Péter - Red shirt!
Decent performance. Consistent with fouls. Got in the way of play twice in almost the exact place on the pitch. Fitness still decent. Man management excellent. The TV commentator was praising his man management and made the point 2 or 3 times that he always takes the time to speak to players and explain decisions calmly and how much the players like and respect him. Noticeable was the lack of dissent.

Paks v Újpest - Referee: Farkas Ádám - Red shirt
Pretty easy game for him. Both teams jus got on with it and he had very little to do. He's very laid back and gets a bit of dissent his way because players expect a more strict interpretation of the LOTG but nothing major and he handles it well.

ZTE v Mol Fehérvár - Referee: Bogár Gergő - black shirt
Very much like watching Michael Oliver. Very mature performance. Our first penalties of the season. First one was a very easy decision keeper hauled the Vidi player down. No red as it would have been classed as a DOGSO scenario. The 2nd one Vidi fans are crying over and saying it was a joke - he could have given it for 2 reasons! Nego pushed the player enough for him to start to fall, at which point another Vidi defender  tackled him, got the ball but also took him right down and Nego managed to fall on top of him! Possibly a bit soft, the push was not much but combined with the tackle as well there was certainly enough and it was a correct call. One absolutely sublime advantage. I think it was Nikolics goal - Vidi player in possession was fouled just outside the area, but was still able to pass as he went down, team mate shot & scored. He had signalled for an advantage & had his whistle up to his mouth ready to call play back. Fantastic bit of refereeing. Look forward to him getting his white badge in Jan. I think he is our future elite ref.

DVTK v Mezőkövesd Zsóry - Referee: Berke Balázs - black shirt
There's something different about him. He's holding his head high & is full of confidence right now. He's in a really good spell, won referee of the season, has just had an excellent UCL debut, 2nd UCL game coming up and it's lovely to see. Masterclass from him today. Fitness outstanding, foul detection, outstanding, positioning, outstanding, man management excellent. There was an incident at the end of the game.  Mezokovesd defender lost his man, stumbled while trying to catch him and grabbed his back leg to pull him down that way. The DVTK player jumped up and pushed him and a few words were exchanged. Berke rightly then booked them both. The foul was a yellow and Ivanovski yellow for the push. Ivanovski wasn't impressed with his yellow and started screaming at Berke who promptly gave him a 2nd yellow and off he went! This happened between 90+2 and 90+4 with TAO at 4 min. He didn't add on any extra time, which he should have but tempers were very frayed at the time, there had been a few more handbags thrown after the red and he blew for the game to end as soon as the free kick was taken. It wasn't near the goal but could have possibly reached the pen box. Only thing you can really complain about but it's balanced by preventing the game from kicking right off.

According to the Romanian press Felcsút gave permission to Baluta to go to a wedding in Romania last week. Reports also suggest there are 7 or 8 people who tested positive including masseurs. Nothing is being confirmed by our Federation. Baluta has not been confirmed as testing positive - that is speculation in the Romanian press. I do wonder though if it is also a breach of government guidelines, I thought Romania was still classed as a 'red' country but I am not 100% uptodate so it might have been downgraded to a 'yellow' country by now.  Can't imagine Dr Csányi is pleased with the situation, he will feel they have embarrassed the Federation, especially if they have to forfeit their EL game due to it. Be interesting to see if the Federation fine them.

Budafoki MTE v Kisvárda Master Good - Referee: Pintér Csaba - blue shirt.

A typical Mr Pintér display. Calm & efficient. Nothing significantly awesome and nothing really wrong. He looked to be enjoying himself out there though in a decent game that saw the favourites for relegation (Budafok) beat the 2nd favourites to go down 2-1.  Bit early for a 6 pointer but it could be a significant result when both teams play the better teams in the division.  Strange seeing Mr Erdős as AAR2 to the essentially still an NBII referee Mr Káprály as he is certainly the more senior of the 2. Maybe he is carrying an injury. Vad was AAR2 a few times last season for that reason.

The reality that my team are still awful has hit early this season!!!

Good debut from Mr Zierkelbach though. One very poor offside call from Mr Vígh-Tarsonyi in the first half, he was about 4 feet onside! Unusual for him to get one that wrong. Snidey stamp by Zsóri on 90+4 - that was shameful. Fully deserved the red card and it was a good spot from the ref. As for Ristevski he will not be missed while he serves his ban! His reaction was also shameful - his red was also well deserved. He'd already proved what a liability he still is by giving away a stupid free kick that lead to the equaliser and yet another yellow card for him. As his 2nd card was a straight red, the yellow still counts so only 4 more away from his first totting up ban of the season!

It's going to be a looooong season!

Still #SolymosiWatch in red - there's always a silver lining!

So it's only taken to week 3 for Missy bmb & Mr Puhl to have the first fall out of the season! No #SolymosiWatch this weekend, not even as AAR or even in the NBII. I am NOT happy! Best he have the postponed Kisvarda v Felcsút game on 4th September  :-[ Kisvarda play in red so it would have to be wearning black for him! In case I forget to mention it - I am NOT happy!

I do however notice that none of the team involved in Thurs Europa league game are involved this weekend so it might be a covid/quarantine thing. Hungary closes its borders again from 1st September, after several government ministers tested positive and restrictions are already gradually coming into place ahead of that closure.  There won't have been enough time from them returning on Friday for 2 negative tests to have been taken ahead of the Sunday games.  :-\  Mr Bogár wore yellow for that game as well, just to make things worse! The lovely Mr Solymosi did keep his UEFA tracksuit top zipped up as far as he could so no yellow shirt was visible on him & they wore black socks!

I am reliably informed that it is indeed covid 19 related. Precautionary in nature. The government guidelines changed while they were out of the country and the Hungary borders have been closed again. Not sure how this will affect any of our referees who may be in contention for the earlier UCL/UEL rounds. Berke has had 2 games so far & done well in both, Karakó has had 1 and also did well. Bogár did well in his UEL debut.

Also not sure why it has affected the referees but the 3 teams in the UEL on Thursday all play tomorrow? Perhaps they had tests before they returned and the referees didn't? I assume there is some logic there somewhere.

The official line is that the borders are closed again until at least 30 September, in order to ensure a more or less normal restart for face-to-face teaching in schools. It however appeared rather quickly in the aftermath of it leaking out that various government ministers have tested positive. Mr Orbán has tested negative though.

Shirt count good again this weekend - thank you Mr Puhl!  :-*

Mr Berke in black, Mr Karakó in red and everyone else in blue.

Very little of note so far this weekend in 3 games. Just watching the last 2 now. I will say I do like Mr Antal's manner on the pitch, he has a lovely way with him and the players really relate to him well. He takes the time to explain decisions, quickly defuses any potential flashpoints with smiles and it shows how much the players like him. You can see players calmly approach him to ask about a decision as opposed to just standing there screaming and stamping their foot - it's nice to see & makes a good atmosphere in the game.

Mr Pinter had a very busy afternoon. 2 huge decisions - penalty was spot on but the accompanying red card I am at a loss to understand. It was not a DOGSO scenario, there was a covering defender & the goalkeeper. Fradi defender stumbled more than anything and went into the ZTE player. 100% back the penalty but it didn't tick a single box for a red card.  The only thing I can think of is he has had the "no attempt to play the ball" in his mind despite no DOGSO element.  Not like him to get one so wrong. It happens & in the end didn't change the outcome of the match. Dibz saved the pen & Fradi went on to win the game 2-1. Another red at the end of the game for Lesjak of ZTE - YYR & both YC correct.

Onto Mr Karakó. Many mistakes first half but only one at the hands of team ref! Csatári Tibor with a dreadful offside call against Felcsút. Judging how dodgy my Lilák's defence has been I'll happily take it!! Pajovic back in goal so we are down to 10 men as it is. A bunch of NBIII teenagers managed to knock one passed him within 5 mins & he nearly gifted them a 2nd one a few mins later - thankfully 1 defender was awake and cleared it off the line.  Hope Banai will be back soon.  Yellow card for Burekovic - who is living proof that you can't cure stupid. Every single week he is this dumb and rightly gets booked. Red card for Stieber - utter stupidity. There was a foul on Stieber & Mr Karakó blew for the foul, while both players were still on the floor, Stieber raked his studs down the Felcsút players calf and kicked him right over. Good spot from Mr Karakó who quite rightly sent him off. It's 1-1 at half time, my team are down to 10, well 9 as Pajovic is in goal and struggling against a bunch of teenagers from 2 leagues below!  Felcsút have had to field their teenagers from the NBIII team because of the positive covid-19 tests, the MLSZ refused to allow them to also postpone this game, they have already postponed 2.

It didn't improve none. Lilák need to hang their heads in shame, out played & outclassed by a group of kids who play 2 leagues lower. 3-2 defeat in the end.

Mr Karokó continued to have a good game. Penalty against my Lilák spot on. Vincent can add his name to the idiots list. Some child going away from goal towards the byline and right before he runs out of the pen area Vincent decides to bowl him over & give a dumb pen away - just why?? Then just before the end Burekovic strikes again - not on goal that would be too much to hope for! Just in case we missed his can't cure stupid moment in the first half he had another one, earned himself a 2nd yellow and therefore a red. Not sure why he was screaming at Mr Karakó, there was only one person in the wrong and it wasn't Mr Karakó! Shame Mr Karakó had run out of cards to give him at that point, at least he is banned next match! If someone could just drop Pajovic & Burekovic the Serb side of the border before midnight when they close I'd be ever so grateful - please and thank you!

Dear Mr Puhl,

Please please a red shirted Mr Solymosi on the Felcsút game on Friday . Both my teams lost and no #SolymosiWatch to cheer me up - I have lost my smile  :-[  I'll share my pálinka with you!  :-* Actually my new bottle of pálinka is currently in Hungary & stuck there due to borders closing so ummm, save me some eh!

Thank you

I was lied to - my pálinka has not yet left Hungary en route to me! The photo was evidence of it being bought for me *sigh* I did wonder how my lovely peep bringing it over for me had got around the travel ban! They haven't but there it now sits in a suitcase ready to begin its journey - when the borders re-open!

Still Mr Puhl has come through for me & I have #SolymosiWatch tomorrow night. Not quite what I hoped for but #SolymosiWatch is #SolymosiWatch after all! Thanks Mr Puhl, you are awesome!   Help yourself to a shot from the bottle of blueberry pálinka - trust me you'll not like the apple & caramel... It's disgusting - honest!

Brief round up - ok not so brief!

Ferencváros 5-0 Paks - Andó-Szabó Sándor. Yellow shirt

He wore yellow there is no further comment necessary... Ok I will mention the correct YYR!

Only 1 team on the pitch, Tokmac with a hattrick for Fradi & Boli with a brace. Paks didn't turn up & Mr yellow shirt wearer was not really needed other than to keep goal tally! Paks had requested the game be postponed as they were missing several players due to positive covid 19 tests. Fradi refused and therefore the Federation as per their own rules had to let it go ahead. It was men v a few boys & Fradi should hang their heads in shame.  They're always quick to ask for postponements for Euro games prep and get them, yet an opposition team needing one for medical reasons & they refused. Hope the federation refuse to postpone anymore Fradi games for any reason. They won't though, it's Fradi & they can do what they like. Wonder how much their aryan green flag waving supporters enjoyed those 5 goals? Perhaps the players reward was no monkey chants from that lot...  :-[

Mezőkövesd Zsóry 1-0 Budafoki MTE - Farkas Ádám - black shirt

Easy game for Mr Farkas. It was meh! Both teams cancelling each other out. 6 bookings all correct. I have found the cure for insomnia!

DVTK 2-4 Budapest Honvéd - Bognár Tamás - black shirt

A fair few controversies in this one.  A couple of very special goals for Gazdag for Kispest and Molnar for DVTK.

The controversies - Red card for Kristóf of DVTK. I would say it was soft but it was not wrong. Last man, fell under DOGSO & under that aspect had to go. Had it been a foot further ahead, ie inside the box not outside, it wouldn't have been red & had it not been DOGSO it would not have been red. Correct call for me within the LOTG.

Kispests 3rd goal was offside. My initial reaction it was onside, and that was obviously the opinion of Kóbor Péter, Gazdag hesitated, saw the flag didn't go up and ran on & scored a lovely goal. Replays show it was offside. Now depending which of the 2 cameras you look at - it was either a good 2 feet offside or just mm! Our TV company are nowhere near ready for VAR, replay footage is shocking! Camera 1 is about inline with the kicker & Gazdag looks well offside, Camera 2 is further upfield & Gazdag looks level/onside. My gut feeling is that it was offside by probably only cm. Kóbor Péter is an excellent AR, with a very high accuracy level, I cannot see him missing a player a couple of feet offside, his position was good and it was his side of the pitch - he does not call those wrong. One that needed VAR and better camera views to really decide I think.

Penalty to DVTK looked very soft. Again not wrong, within the LOTG. I'm too old for it to be a penalty! Meh! Tujvel saved it anyway. Correct call though.

Red card for Grozav of DVTK. Several complaints about this on twitter because he didn't connect. Both feet off the ground, studs up - doesn't need to make contact, that's why the LOTG say makes or attempts to make. Potential leg breaker if he made contact. Correct in the LOTG for me.

Mol Fehérvár 3-1 Puskás Akadémia - Iványi Zoltán - black shirt

Nice to see Mr Iványi back. His face looked very gaunt though so I wondered if he had been ill.  Typical Mr Iványi performance. Some nice advantages & a lot of smiley ace man management.

Újpest 2-4 Kisvárda Master Good - Referee: Solymosi Péter - black shirt

Oh dear, where do I start? A team void of any tactics and a formation even the experts were not able to fathom. To all the ultras who drove my Mr beautiful out of the club - FU! Hope you're happy with that shower of

Thank the lord of football (and Mr Puhl) for #SolymosiWatch, it was the only enjoyable part of the game!

Only 1 decision I disagreed with. Csongvai yellow. Sassa is an utter disgrace, went down like a sniper had hit him, for about the 30th time in the game & he gave a free kick & booked Csongvai. I think he was conned by play acting & replays seem to suggest the same although again the angle was not great and it was quite zoomed out. He'd have been looking from behind and Csongvai would have been partially obscuring his view.

He gave Bumba a yellow for deciding to leave the pitch collect a water bottle and then stand on the pitch drinking water. The players reaction was infuriating he just stood there smirking and carried on drinking - I said to Tünde at the time I wanted to slap the smirk off of his face. Cocky, arrogant, disrespectful little ...

I will also note, as I made such a big fuss over it before, he definitely had water in the 2nd half drinks break. Not sure about the 1st half but 2nd half he went to the 4O who handed him a bottle of water & he was seen clearly on camera drinking from it.

MTK Budapest 0-3 ZTE - Karakó Ferenc - Red shirt

I wasn't really watching this one. I was watching the Loki v Ajka game in the NB2 - an 8 goal absolute thriller it has to be said. I did have this on and glanced at it a few times. Didn't see anything to complain about. Saw 2 of the yellows & felt they were spot on. There was one noticeable moment where he cut a very lonely figure as he tried to speak to players, they just walked off & ignored him. I don't like that level of disrespect but he doesn't command the authority needed. In terms of decision making so far this season, I have watched 2 games of his & he did really well in both of them, maybe this season he will finally show what he is clearly capable of. Despite not liking him I do hope so, I don't like to see any referee having poor game upon poor game, it's not good to watch & is soul destroying for them.

Mr Puhl - my team, well both my teams actually are dreadful this season - Kispest 2nd from bottom, Lilák 4th from bottom - it's going to be a long season & we both know it's going to be Mr Solymosi's last one (hopefully May not December for retirement though...) so please next round may I have a red shirted Mr Solymosi and a return to the middle for Mr Erdős, thank you! Oh and save me some pálinka, I am going to need it for my sanity!  :-*

Andó-Szabó 2nd game of the season and both games he has worn yellow - may I suggest a very long period of suspension for him please Mr Puhl... As long as it takes for him to write out "I must not wear yellow" 2 billion times will do! The teams are in hot pink - vile and in white so no excuse for it, 1 goalie in green the other in black. Could & should have worn blue. Budafok deserve to win on kit colour alone!!!

Dear God of football please deliver my Mr beautiful back to Lilák before football returns after the international break! 4-0 down with 20 mins to go  :-\ Goal correctly disallowed for offside at 0-0 and my team fell apart and conceded 4 so far! I was happy with the half time 0-0 score! Vidi just had 1 disallowed for offside - correctly again. Mr Tóth has been been busy today! Black shirts for this game & that's about as good as it has got! No probs with team ref at all. Onovo (Vincent) sent off again, on his return from suspension  ::) YYR - both yellows correct and only 1 person to blame. It has ended up as a 5-1 defeat for my team, Ristevski scoring an own goal for Vidi's 5th. He's such a liability. Sigh!

#SolymosiWatch did not involve much Solymosi but at least he was in black during the 3.7 seconds of screen time he got. 2 very good offside calls (1 each way) from Mr Szert in that game.  Mr Karakó got more right than wrong but still managed to wind all the players up.

KMI for Mr Bognár today and I don't mean for his vile yellow shirt! Traore was offside for Honvéds 4th goal. Didn't overly affect the result - Kispest were 3-1 up and it was the 86th min.  Koszta did get a 2nd for ZTE with the last kick of the ball. Mr Huszár was shocking today, behind play on several occasions and when Traore scored he was a good 3-5 feet ahead of play and missed it. I think he might be looking forward to a spell of board duties - he looks completely unfit.

Yesterday's games: a very assured performance from Mr Bogár in the DVTK v Paks game. (Blue shirt)  Surprise 2-1 win for Paks.

Excellent outing for Mr Káprály in the dire offering that was Mezőkövesd Zsóry v Kisvárda Master Good. Played one absolutely sublime advantage in the lead up to Kisvarda's 2nd goal. He'll be really happy with that one. One pen shout for Mezőkövesd and I think he got it spot on. Never a pen in my opinion. He's impressing as the new boy.

Friday game - Mr Andó-Szabó wore yellow in a dire but unexpected 2-1 win for Budafok v MTK. Correct red card call.

Off to drink a load of pálinka and beg Mr beautiful to return to Lilák!

Hopefully focibiro are well off the mark with this one - http://focibiro.hu/cikk.php?id=10618

Quote
The news is spreading like wildfire among the national frame members that there are 15 positive covidian referees in the NB frame, while another 5 referees are waiting for the result.
In the case, we contacted the MLSZ press department to see what precautions were taken to protect the referees.

As soon as the answer arrives, we will update our article.

I'm assuming they are including the NBII and NBII because there are only 16 referees in the NBI! Very concerning if there is any truth in it. Not sure what to make of it really, they are normally pretty good with articles and info but they are very anti Mr Puhl and sometimes it can cloud their judgement slightly.

Brief round up of so far this weekend

Kisvárda Master Good 0-2 Ferencváros Referee: Berke Balázs

Expected win for Fradi. Mr Berke remains on good form, fitness excellent, positioning and movement around the pitch excellent, application of the LOTG, fair and consistent. One sublime double advantage, 1st Fradi player fouled as he passed the ball, his team mate then fouled as he did the next pass, a shot that lead to an own goal with 2 Fradi players still down on the deck at different points within the final 3rd!! Fantastic bit of refereeing He can be very happy with that performance.

Budafoki MTE 2-1 DVTK Referee: Iványi Zoltán

Typical Iványi performance. Good man management, calm, wise old head. One DVTK player didn't heed his warning to zip it, walked off but carried on with the mouthing off & deservedly ended up with a yellow for dissent. One situation in the game, tussle between 2 players in the penalty area, onto the byline, no foul but the DVTK players all went mad at the AAR Mr Hanyecz for not giving a goal kick. He was right there & had a great view and the replays showed that the whole of the ball did not go over the line at any point and Mr Hanyecz was absolutely correct. Good to see Mr Iványi straight over to protect his young AAR.

Újpest 1-0 Mezőkövesd Zsóry Referee: Erdős József

Steady performance from Mr Erdős. He's really cemented himself as a safe pair of hands. One beautiful advantage in Lilák's favour and despite it being a good minute or 2 before the ball next went out of play he went back to give Cséri a yellow card for the foul. Lilák had their weekly goal chalked off for offside - correctly again! Really cannot understand how my team can't get it - every single week we score from an offside position, every single week it correctly gets disallowed! It's about the only predictable thing about the league!!

No criticism here but a very bizarre moment late on, Branko was far side about to take a throw in and started doing the rolling arms signal for a substitution. He'd also lifted his left leg a couple of times & rubbed it so natural assumption was he was signalling that he needed to come off. There was a sub stood ready to come on, Branko took the throw but didn't come straight onto the pitch, and started walking up the side before coming back on, Mr Erdős, signalled to him to get back off the pitch which he did and continued following play up the pitch but on the touchline. Mr Erdős then signalled he could come back on and play continued for another 30 secs or so. The sub then happened and it wasn't Branko going off!! Seems he had confused everyone by trying to bring to the refs attention Lilák wanted to make a substitution and Mr Erdős assuming he was the player coming off. I had the same assumption to be fair to Mr Erdős and was cussing the new coach for daring to sub off my Branko! It had no effect on the game and was just a bit random.

Felcsút v MTK Budapest - Mr Pintér is in yellow so deserves at least a 3 match suspension for doing so. Please take note Mr Puhl... 1 team in white, the other in black, 1 goalie in mint green & the other in red* so blue shirt was available to him. *On closer inspection the keepers kit is actually a dark salmon colour so Mr Pintér could have worn red as well as blue!  >:(

Hope Mr Solymosi took note that Mr Erdős wore red and will act accordingly!

One non refereeing thing - our TV company. All of the staff are at the very least bilingual, several speak 3/4 languages fluently. Amazing & very impressive hearing a pundit interview a player in his native language before translating it into Hungarian for the audience!

Think I'm half on the naughty step - having to wait until Sunday for the lovely Mr Solymosi & he's only AAR!  Come on Mr Puhl, play nice!

Bit gutted this weekend, I am meant to be in Hungary right now, bouncing up and down with excitement ahead of the derby before travelling straight down to Hortobágy for St Dömötör Day tomorrow. I hate you coronavirus...

Mr bmb has promised to take me to Hortobágy on St George's Day on April 23 if the borders are open. Not quite the same as St Dömötör Day but a reasonable alternative! On St George's Day the csikós & herdsmen bring the grey cattle and the racka sheep out from the barns and take them onto the Hortobágy for the summer, St Dömötör Day is the day they return them from the Hortobágy to the barns for the winter. (Everywhere but the Hortobágy it happens on St Michaels Day in September). The festival itself has been cancelled but I was still going to go and sit my butt on the 9 hole bridge all day and watch them coming back in  :'(  Trying to persuade Mr bmb to go and get me one of the herdsman's coats! They are simply stunning!

Oh dear Mr Bogár. 2 big errors today. One a kmi error and the other he got the kmi call right but handled the aftermath very poorly.

First of all Dibz should have been sent off when he hauled down whoever it was he hauled down! Penalty was correct for Lilák but should have been a red as well. Not a DOGSO scenario, there was a covering defender. Dibz actions clearly endangered the safety of the Lilák player & he should have been off. Fradi were 2-0 up at this point.

Secondly he failed to notice a growing 'thing' between Frimpong and Bacsa. 2 mins of pushing, shoving, niggling at every opportunity on & off the ball.  It was obvious to all but the inexperienced ref that it was heading for a big blow up.  Result of them not being pulled to one side and told to can it was Frimpong kicked Bacsa in the head - utterly dreadful & he should be on the end of a minimum 5 match ban for it. Ref rightly showed him the red card BUT then allows him to go over to Bacsa, where there are already a group of players pushing and shoving each other & tempers very high, and speak to him.  Ridiculous. He should have stopped him going over & got him down the tunnel asap. At least he didn't dish out any other cards to those who went for him, probably because he knew he should not have let him go over there. He only acted once Frimpong went for another player and the coaches had started to drag him off.  Completely lost control at that point & really didn't know how to handle it. Purely down to inexperience. Shame because he had had an excellent game otherwise, some good decisions and 3/4 lovely advantages. Started to lose it after not sending Dibz off. Both decisions quite late in the game, I think the pen was 78th min & the last kick of the game was, well Frimpong to Bacsa's head actually! A few weeks AAR duties should be headed his way.  He needs to thank the Lilák medical staff and both sets of coaches for it not kicking right off. They were the ones who got the players separated and calmed down while he stood and watched Frimpong arguing on the pitch with other player after he had sent him off!

It should be said Fradi were worthy winners, when your defence stand there & watch the ball and/or opponents skip on by and do nothing that is on them.  Branko at fault for both Fradi goals just don't ever quote me on that as he is my fav player & can do no wrong! The manager hugely at fault for the first goal - Perosevic was injured, he knew he had to bring a sub on, ref gave him the opportunity to bring a sub on but he stood there like a wet weekend dithering, ref restarted the game, Fradi went up the other end & scored. Manager then chucks a paddy because we only had 10 players on the pitch - that was on him. Had he made a decision and got a sub ready during the 3 mins that Perosevic was being treated for it would not have happened!! Idiot. Tallo virtually hitting the corner post with the penalty kick was embarrassing. Both of our penalty takers were sat on the subs bench but even so, there are well saved penalties and there are penalties so poorly taken a 3 year year old would be embarrassed by it - ours fell into the latter category!

Mr Puhl needs to be aware that bmb is not a happy lady! Andó-Szabó - 3 games, 3 yellow shirts...  That should be at least a 6 match suspension! Correct YYR though - Spandler demonstrating player stupidity at its' finest! Grabs the ball and pulls it underneath himself when already on a yellow! Night night!

Busy game for Mr Berke. 2 correctly awarded penalties. Both pretty easy decisions - first one was a double team body check on Stopira.  2nd one was hilarious - handball and the player was still trying to claim his innocence 5 mins later. Literally had his hand up straight above his head and patted the ball away.  I said to my Hungarian sister on Skype it was like when a teacher asks her students who knows the answer to this and their hands all shoot up in the air! Pair of us were in fits of laughter at him trying to claim innocence.  Mr Solymosi managed to keep a straight face as he explained to him why as AAR he had signalled it while Mr Berke stood a few feet away trying not to laugh at him!  It was the only bit of #Solymosi in the #SolymosiWatch though!!  Nowhere near enough of it anyway.

I am fairly certain that Mr Puhl owes me a red shirted Mr Solymosi as referee next weekend. AAR on the other day & maybe a midweek Magyar Kupa game thrown in just for good measure!

#PUHLOUT

Appointments for tomorrow not out yet! Mr Zierkelbach and Mr Káprály both in yellow.

Annoyed bmb!

Mr Karakó is at least in black.

The 2 early games there were several incidents of dissent, players crowding around the referees. First & foremost it was wrong on the players part but neither of the young referees handled them at all well. Mr Zierkelbach looked like a rabbit caught in headlights for the most of the game. Mr Káprály was dishing out yellow cards like confetti, at least 4 if not 5 of them would not have been given with a more confident and experienced referee. Whilst decision making was in general decent enough, both referees screamed inexperienced and no confidence. Shame really because they are both capable of much better so I hope they are given some support from their more experienced colleagues over the next few days.

2 big calls for Mr Káprály - red card for Tamás from Kispest was absolutely spot on. Dreadful tackle and the red was 100% deserved.  Penalty for Kispest - I'm not 100% sure. The replays were rubbish but didn't look like any contact to me. He had a far better view than I did though. Very niggly game, several injuries  & I was never convinced he had full control of the game. Tough one for him & I am sure he will come back stronger, he certainly has the potential. Needs a dose of self confidence & some advice on being in assertive control rather than resorting to unnecessary panicked yellow cards. Felt sorry for Mr Szalai, player chasing ball to the touchline and ended up hitting into/kicking the corner flag which hit Mr Szalai in the stomach. He styled it out but it did look like it hurt! I would pair Mr Káprály up with either Mr Solymosi or Mr Iványi for a few weeks so they can give him some extra mentoring. There is an excellent young referee inside of him.

In the evening game - Nego has given Mr Karakň a ticking off for giving a free kick after a perfectly timed and executed tackle. Don't like to see it but he had a very good point! One of those days today for team ref.

Still no appointments for tomorrow!

#PUHLOUT

Best I be getting a red shirted Mr Solymosi tomorrow!

They all wore blue today.

One thing I forgot from Mr Káprály game yesterday. At one point, he threw his arm back when engaged in discussion with players and smacked one of the Honvéd players in the face. It was pointed out to him that he had done so, no apology, no checking if the player was ok but instead he continued to get agitated and indicating to players to go away.  Very poorly handled.

Yesterday was not a good day for our referee's. Unprofessional behaviour, unconvincing displays and generally a bad day at the office all round.  Add in the absolutely amateurish shambles from the JB regarding appointments, it is a day they will all want to forget.

Today was much better and more what we expect from our referees. The JB need to restore some credibility to themselves though.

I appreciate there has been difficulties with appointments this week. An incredible 8 match officials were used on both days (out of 18). Covid has hit hard on top of any regular injuries but they need to learn to communicate. 4 of the match officials involved in the Honvéd game where positive tests have been confirmed are still missing, Takács & Király were both back today, the other 4 have been missing for almost 1 month. Just communicate instead of looking so """in unprofessional.

We know it's a problem, my Lilák were forced to field U19 & U17 players today. 4 1st team players and the rest were kids, we had the U19 coach on the bench as all of our coaching staff have tested positive. Other teams are also struggling with academy kids on the benches everywhere.

I think the Federation are going to have to step in and suspend the league for a few weeks.

Lilák have forfeited their match this week due to coronavirus.  MTK refused to agree to a postponement last week even though we only had 7 1st team players available, DVTK refused permission this week even though we only have 2 1st team players available.

From M4sport - our national TV sports channel:

The football team of Újpest will not play on Friday at the home of Diósgyőr in the 10th round of the OTP Bank League - the capital's club announced.

Újpest FC, severely affected by the coronavirus epidemic, on Tuesday asked the Diósgyőr VTK for permission to postpone the two teams' Friday league match, citing that "only two or three players from the big team can stand next to the youngsters due to illness and injury".

The Miskolc club did not agree to the request due to the dense program and its pending league postponement, in addition, the band had previously had a postponed meeting in the Hungarian Cup.

The purple-whites also asked MTK Budapest to postpone their meeting last week, but the blue-whites did not agree to this, and then on Sunday they defeated the heavily reserved Újpest at the Szusza Ferenc Stadium by 4–0 .

The purple-and-white club said on Wednesday that it would not stand for the match in Miskolc scheduled for 8 p.m. on Friday.

“The coronavirus epidemic had already decimated the Újpest FC framework by the last round, but at that time we were still trying to fulfill our obligations in the match against MTK Budapest, even though we already had only 7 players from the 25th frame who could produce a negative virus test. . By yesterday, the numbers showed an even worse picture. Of the 25 frames submitted to MLSZ, 2 players could only produce a negative test, and several of the players brought from our U19 team in Sunday's match also produced a positive test. ”

Újpest's statement emphasizes that they understand that DVTK did not accept the postponement for fear that they might be disadvantaged as a result. “Újpest FC is committed to making the tournament run smoothly, not to miss matches, but this is already an extreme situation. We don't want anyone to be in this situation. "

The club decided not to stand up against DVTK on Friday, given the rate of infection within the team. “Neither the opposing team, nor our even negative players, young people, can be put in such danger. This is the only way to prevent the spread and further infection. At the weekend we even said that Újpest would not give away 3 points without a fight, but in this case the fight is not on the field and the health of our players, the future of further matches is at stake. ”

Újpest submitted the official application to the Hungarian Football Association, which is expected to award the three points to DVTK with a goal difference of 3–0.

Today's games:

Missy bmb is currently enjoying a black clad #SolymosiWatch

He's having a decent game as well.  Correctly awarded penalty for Kisvarda, mandatory yellow for Viana as he removed his shirt (not a pretty sight!). Enjoyed him calling Viana over for that as he could be heard clearly on the TV!   57th min played a lovely advantage and used the old style 2 handed signal - good man.  While I was typing he's just sent Viana off for a 2nd yellow, not 100% convinced there was much contact from Viana, he did have his arm up when challenging but on replay (from a very different angle) contact looked minimal, if any but the ZTE player went down clutching his face like he'd been shot. Viana would have been partially obscuring his view as to the amount of contact. Fair play to Viana that although he had a complete tantrum, he ran to his captain to "have a word" with Mr Solymosi as opposed to showing him dissent himself. On the other hand he was jumping up and down stamping his foot and hitting the ground in temper which was not so good!! From the restart another Kisvarda player threw an arm back and ZTE player went down again like he was shot, another yellow and the lovely Mr S went and had a long word with the Kisvarda skipper and judging by the hand/arm movements and signals was clearly telling him to calm his team down. Great man management.

Edited to add: He went on to book the Kisvarda goalkeeper for time wasting and literally seconds later one of the Kisvarda bench grabbed the ball as it came out for a throw and hid it behind his seat! Pathetic. He got booked too!! Was really willing ZTE to get an equaliser in the 4 mins TAO but sadly not. Would have been good karma - that and I had the game as a 2-2 draw in the predictions league!

Mr Iványi is in black! 44 min gone, Mezokovesd are losing 2-0 and just had a player sent off for a 2nd yellow!  Make that 3-0 as I type!

The delightful(!) Attila Kuttor was sacked a couple of days ago by Mezőkövesd Zsóry who have appointed the even more delightful(!) Attila Pintér as his replacement!

Hope they get relegated!!!

Pintér is an absolutely vile, nasty old dinosaur who should have been put out to pasture 100 years ago. Can't wait for his post match interviews "the ref got this wrong we lost because the referee breathed, the referee was incompetent..."

This is the completely awful creature who jumped up and down yelling at the MLSZ that the referee cost them the game in the Magyar Kupa final by a "wrong" decision in the 7th minute - firstly the decision was correct and his only answer to how they managed to take the lead twice in the 83 mins following that "appalling game changing decision" along with conceding twice, no further goals being scored in the 30 mins of extra time and Lilák ultimately winning the game on a penalty shoot out was to repeat his pathetic and totally factually incorrect claim that the referee had cost them the game in the 7th minute! Disznó!!

I haven't seen Vad on the appointments lately. Injured?

He's only been involved in 1 game this season so far and we are now a third of the way through. It was the weekend that we struggled to put out 6 teams of match officials over the weekend and we had 8 match officials doing 2 games each across the weekend. 1st November - Round 9. He was AAR1 to the lovely Mr Solymosi in the Újpest v MTK Budapest match. Újpest had requested a postponement, MTK refused and therefore Mr Puhl had to find match officials for 6 games not 5. He may well be involved in tomorrow's game but I'm not expecting to see him out.

Mr Puhl said a few weeks ago that there are big changes coming to the NBI referee list in the near future with as many as 5 or 6 referees leaving the list and being replaced by younger referees. I would suspect the 5-6 leaving to be Solymosi Péter (48), Iványi Zoltán (45 in December), Erdős József (43), Pintér Csaba (43) and Andó-Szabó Sándor (42) possibly along with Vad II retiring through injury. This is the 3rd season now he has barely had a game, the only explanation is that he is struggling with a recurring injury.

Incoming I would expect to see Csonka Bence (28) & Pillók Ádám (32), who made their NBI debuts towards the end of 18/19 and are both establishing themselves very well. Last season we had debuts from Antal Péter (34), Káprály Mihály (30 in November) and  Zierkelbach Péter (32) has made his NBI debut this season. There are a few other NBII refs who could well be close to debuting on the NBI – Hanyecz Bence, Molnár Attila as 2 examples.

I have to accept it is the lovely Mr Solymosi's last season - I'm hoping for a May not December retirement!

Takács János with 2 AAR appointments. Shortage of referees I guess.

We are really struggling thanks to a dreadful prolonged covid spike within football in general here.  He's the same age as Solymosi Péter, nowhere near as fit & I suspect this is also his last season. Don't think he's done many NBII games as referee but (apart from 4 weeks out himself due to covid), he's a decent & reliable AAR2. He was in Bognár's team when there was the post match positive tests after the Kispest game & Bognár was replaced in Europe.  He & one of the others were out for 4 weeks, the rest of them 6 weeks.  Would not surprise me to see Csonka & Molnár out as AAR's on Sunday or Andó-Szabó & Solymosi out either as AARs or the 2 referees although Bognár might be available after his Thursday excursion to Dublin, if he gets a negative test in time - wouldn't be the first time for that part not to happen (round 3 their tests weren't back in time for him to use the Thursday night Eu team - the lovely Mr solymosi had been 4O)

I feel for Mr Puhl right now he's juggling a very small pool of match officials, trying to adhere to the 48hr rule, while praying for no new positives tests or injuries, to cover just 6 games!

3 days out of 3 for Mr Takács.  All Budapest based games, nice weekend away for him, he is listed as from Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg county. Very unique county as it borders Slovakia, Romania and Ukraine!  He was born in Vác so maybe he has moved back there. It's not far from Budapest 15/20 km.

Guess who got a red shirted Mr Solymosi today...

Thanks Mr Puhl - Te vagy a legjobb!

It is so easy to keep me happy!!  Stick a red shirted Mr Solymosi out there every week, preferably as ref not AAR and you get happy bmb! It's that simple!  Pálinka works as an alternative!

#SolymosiWatch - bmb's sanity restored! Unlikely to be redshirted though as Vidi play in blue & red. :( Paks in green & white

Budapest Honvéd v MTK Budapest
2020.12.06 – 15:15
Budapest, Szusza Ferenc Stadion
Referee: Iványi Zoltán
4O: Bornemissza Norbert
AR: Garai Péter, Szécsényi István
AAR: Radványi Ádám, Lovas László

Paks v Mol Fehérvár
2020.12.06 – 17:30
Paks, Paksi FC Stadion
Referee: Solymosi Péter
4O: Medovarszki János
AR: Tóth II. Vencel, Vígh-Tarsonyi Gergő
AAR: Szilasi Szabolcs, Takács János

Appointments not released until 2am Hungary time, really hope the officials knew before then! Takács János 3rd AAR appointment this weekend again, Vígh-Tarsonyi Gergő out again. All AAR's are NBII refs.  Mr Puhl is really having a tough time of it at the moment trying to cover the games. I think he will glad to see the winter break arrive!! 3 more games after this round plus a couple of postponed matches scheduled for 23rd December - a redshirted Mr Solymosi would make a perfect birthday gift Mr Puhl!  :-*

Mr Iványi wearing yellow to referee MY team! Not good Mr Puhl... He should be in blue.

The game is being played at my Lilák's ground to give it more neutrality as Kispest are ground sharing with MTK.  I'm in 2 minds about this one, I never want Kispest to lose but the word is that the manager has been given an ultimatum and will be sacked if we lose. I can't stand our manager... So as I post we go 1-0 up!

Mr Puhl is really having a tough time of it at the moment trying to cover the games.

We have 12 NBI res and 4 officially still NBII refs who regularly referee in the NBI.  Just having a quick look at the appointments over the past few weeks... This week is Round 13

Missed 1 round: Solymosi Péter (Wk 3 after being in Europe on the Thurs); Erdős József (this weekend); Antal Péter (5)
Missed 2 rounds: Pillók Ádám (1 & 10), Káprály Mihály (2; 10), Zierkelbach Péter (1 & 10); Bogár Gergő (3; 12)
Missed 4 Rounds: Csonka Bence (Wk 2-5); Farkas Ádám (9-11; 13)
Missed 5 Rounds: Andó-Szabó Sándor (wk1; 5; 9-11); Iványi Zoltán (1-3; 5-6)
Missed 6 Rounds: Karakó Ferenc (1; 5; 10-13)
Missed 8 Rounds: Pintér Csaba (4-5; 8-13); Berke Balázs (2; 4; 6; 9-13)
Missed 10 rounds: Bognár Tamás (1-3; 5; 7-10 [covid]; 12-13 [Europa League Thurs games]

Vad is out injured & has been all season so we are down to 15 in total. He was used as an AAR on week 9 out of sheer desperation!

As we still have the AAR system we need 3 referees/game so 18 per round, we have a number of NBII refs who act only as AAR's in the NBI along with our 2 FIFA ladies, our NBI refs normally do 1-2 NBII games each season as well. 6 (50%) NBI referees have missed 5 -10 games out of 13, that is a huge loss.  The VAR training program started in October as well and has also been hit. Mr Puhl has done a great job in finding enough officials for every game so far.

The lovely Pisont István has been named as caretaker manager at Honvéd.  He was caretaker manager after Giuseppe Sannino was sacked in March & the vast majority of fans wanted him as full time manager instead of Bódog. Fingers crossed that he will be named as full time manager during the winter break and we don't get some other idiot in instead yet again!

Feczkó Tamás was sacked today by DVTK - shame but he's had a dreadful start to the season so it was no surprise! Hungarian-Slovakian (Born in Slovakia but is of ethnic Hungarian origin) Gergely Geri has been named as his replacement. In Hungary Geri is actually a nickname for Gergely! That's about all we know about him.  He was manager at Nitra in the Slovak top league.

I'm hearing no new names to the Hungary FIFA list, which if true is very disappointing.  I really thought Mr Puhl was working towards our future this season but obviously not.

Bogár formally added now by FIFA - he's already been confirmed by UEFA last year but didn't show on the official FIFA list.

I heard the same thing. Vad is still on the list which is very disappointing since he is injured and hasn't done any match the last 2 seasons.

Btw Mr Bognar cames to Greece on Sunday. His Assistants are Buzás Balázs and and Peter Kobor. VAR is from Croatia.

So frustrating. I'm sure he would make a fine coach, he'd be good to have coaching in the core academy helping to prepare our future FIFA refs. He has the knowledge & experience of International games that the youngsters there could learn from. Would be better for his mental health and well being to be involved instead of sat at home injured. Seems a waste in terms of what he can offer as well as the fact him remaining on the list prevents one of our decent youngsters from starting to gain valuable international experience even if just at youth level.

Sunday games & we (well a happy Missy bmb at any rate) have #SolymosiWatch

Won't be a red shirt as it's Kispest at home but as it took just 7 mins into my team's 1st game of the spring season for dissolution (is that right word) to well & truy set in he will be a welcome distraction!!

Shirt watch for today - Berke & Káprály both in black & Antal in red - thanks gents!

Vidi's strikers have borrowed Harry Potter's invisibility cloak judging by how easily they are bypassing my Liláks defence completely unseen! 2-0 down after 21 mins, Branko has done one very naughty challenge - he is forgiven as I him and Tallo has already talked himself into the book! Rather than cry in despair at my teams abject defending  ::) - only just gone 1-0 down in the 44th min which is a miracle I thought as the autumn season games were completed this week I would do the referee stats for the autumn season.  I'll go in order of games done. Kit colours are when as referee.

Solymosi Péter is the only referee with a cardless free game.

There were 96 games in the autumn season but one of those was an awarded game. Lilák chose to forfeit a game when the majority of the 1st team & coaches had covid, a number of U19 players tested positive after stepping in which left the U17 squad & the club chose to forfeit the game rather risk the kids health. Only 95/96 games were actually played.

Brief round up of today's games:

MTK Budapest v Puskás Akadémia - Referee: Erdős József
Highlight of the game was seeing Mr Erdős looking so happy & relaxed. He's often so serious looking or completely stressed out so seeing a big beaming smile from him today was lovely. Not sure what was going on ahead of kick off but he and several players from both teams were chatting and laughing together. A positive side effect of no fans in the ground - the players & match officials relaxed and laughing together. The game itself was meh, at best! Felcsút took the lead at 90+5 for anyone who was still awake to see it. Cracking goal from Géresi to be fair but Felcsút winning was not on my bingo card for today!

Mezőkövesd Zsóry v Újpest - Referee: Andó-Szabó Sándor
My team are at least consistent, unfortunately they're consistently woeful! My man Branko got booked deservedly so as he has ditched his white boots for yellow ones. By some miracle we had got the game to 2-2 and then Mr Andó-Szabó gave a penalty against my Lilák that looked a poor call. The Mezőkövesd player went down like a sniper had crept into the goal and from the replays as well as in real time there dd not appear to be any contact from Vincent. The camera views were not good though & maybe he'd clipped his heels or something that doesn't show on the camera angles shown, it wouldn't be the first time Vincent has given a dumb penalty away, nor sadly will it be the last but my gut feeling is it was a poor call. Mr Andó-Szabó had a better and closer view than me though.

The 2 early games came with red shirts.

Ferencváros v Kisvárda Master Good - Referee: Berke Balázs
Nowhere near enough Solymosi in #SolymosiWatch today :(  Literally 3 seconds across the whole 90 mins.  I'm pretty certain Mr Puhl owes me a red clad Mr Solymosi for round 19! Penalty for Fradi correctly given - they missed it. Dreadfully taken - I did not laugh honest! Kisvarda went 1-0 up but sadly couldn't maintain the lead and it ended 1-1. Decent outing for Mr Berke and he wore black so extra brownie points for that!

Mol Fehérvár v Budapest Honvéd - Referee: Bogár Gergő
It's 1-1 at halftime & Mr Bogár is actually present & clad in black. Assured first half where he has been very much in the background, letting the game breathe and flow & only reminding everyone he is there when necessary. He's definitely our future elite ref.

Annoyed bmb is ANNOYED! Not only is the lovely Mr Solymosi AAR for the 4th game running but he is AAR to the serial yellow shirt wearing Andó-Szabó. Dreadful night in the NBI.

The serial vile shirt wearer put the not lovely tonight Mr Solymosi in the vile shirt. Missy bmb is beyond annoyed by this... I hope Andó-Szabó gets dropped for the rest of the season, in fact the next 10 seasons would be better...

Red clad Mr Solymosi as referee at the weekend please Mr Puhl.

Awful penalty miss for Lilák by Iványi Zoltan in the big Budapest derby, not sure who is most at fault, him or his AAR Karakó. Not seen a replay where you can see both of their positions to judge who is more at fault. The game was 0-0 at the time & it was definitely game changing. Lilák went on to lose 4-0 - our own inept defending and an own goal at fault but it could have been very different if we had gone 1-0 up with the penalty that should have been given.

Both Mr Iványi and Mr Karakó need some time out to reflect...

So the 'not decided yet if he is lovely or not this week' Mr Solymosi gets punished for the yellow wearing by being appointed to my utterly woeful team. We shall see if he is remorseful and wears red... Certainly a game he can wear red in, MTK play in blue and white and Lilák wear purple & white so I hope Mr Puhl has passed on a piros instruction along with the appointment!

The now back to being lovely Mr Solymosi was indeed remorseful & wore red!

My woeful team went 1-0 down after just 3 mins but went on to win 3-1.  Not sure what miraculous phenomenon occurred for that to happen but whatever it was I approve!

I like football and the NBI today! In fact I even like Mr Puhl today!!!

Farkas Ádám as AAR2 for the 5th game running.  Wonder what UEFA would have to say about him being used when he is listed on their system as injured? They were not happy when it happened with Vad last season... Might have been 2 seasons ago actually, can't remember now - Vad is injured far more often than he is not!

Absolutely furious right now.

Not with Mr Bogár, he was absolutely fine. No complaints with his handling of the match at all. Bonus for the black shirt & yes JCFC it was longsleeved!

My team on the other hand, well that's unfair... Tallo on the other hand - what a complete and utter idiot he is, an absolute embarrassment.  First time he has put in a shift while wearing the shirt, he normally spends 90 mins following the referee moaning and does naff all, his 6 bookings in 14 games before tonight have all been stupid bookings for ill discipline - 1 for time wasting, 2 for dissent, 2 for unsporting behaviour and 1 for delaying the restart. 49th min he gets booked for a foul - no problem with the booking and good that for once it wasn't just being bratty but then comes 90+2... We're 1-0 up, trying to make a substitution, 1 min left on the clock and he dawdles, gets told by the ref to get a move on so dawdles even more and quite rightly gets booked for time wasting and therefore a red. Peresovic who was waiting to come on looked like he was going to kill him & that was an interesting bit of lip reading, I know that word, I use it a certain refs way if he ever dares to wear yellow! Tünde now knows the exact word he used! Tallo meanwhile now decides to kick off at being given a deserved red. Tries to go back on the pitch to get at the ref, gets dragged back by club staff, so tries to go for the 4O, gets dragged back by club staff. Club staff surround the 4O - not to harass him but to ensure our player can't get at him & to protect him, discipline committee please take note, when deciding the punishment, security staff have by now attended at the request of the club staff and drag him off down the tunnel. Leaves us with 10 men & now +3 on the clock not +1.  Absolute idiot. Our goal scorer did the post match TV interview, you could barely hear him over the shouting and screaming in the background - yep he was still going on and on! More shouting with a different voice, hopefully the manager telling him he is dropped for the rest of the season! Complete and utter disgrace.

We did win but it was so overshadowed by Tallo's behaviour.

No action against the club or coaching staff thereby acknowledging their part in attempting to control him and not cause any further distress to the match officials. I look forward to those 5 games!  We're going to have to find a new match day wager now as it's normally what min he will get booked for running his mouth off! ;D

Kispest onto our 3rd manager of the season! Ferenc Horváth.  I like him however his last 2 appointments, Balmaz & Haladás - he got relegated from the NBI each time! Not a good omen for a team currently sitting in 11th place in the table! It's still very open, 11 games to play and 7 points between 6th and 11th.

Gábor Márton has been sacked by Vidi this week - no replacement announced yet.

Berke did well to stay awake in the very definition of a bore draw that was MTK Budapest v Mezőkövesd Zsóry.  He didn't look quite right though, he looked very pale and wasn't his normal bright bubbly self. Had no impact on the game which was as dire as games come and no complaints with his decision making. 4 black shirts in 4 appearances earns him brownie points

Vad is in red - still don't like him! He looks unfit. In the 8 months since his last game he has developed a bit of a belly and his arms are flabby, unusual as he is normal extremely fit and muscly. His decision making is as random as ever, hard to work out what is or isn't a foul - zero consistency. Penalty against Lilák was soft, very soft. Can't say it was wrong per se but it was nowhere near a penalty for me.  Ristevski gave him a decision to make though & he made it. There was minimal if any contact and Könyves went down like he'd been shot. He was conned imo. Camera angles not the best & I can see why he has given it. He needed better help from his AAR but an inexperienced not very good NBII ref as AAR did not help.  I don't believe it would have been given if it had been Andó-Szabó's end of the pitch. Lilák 2-0 down, the first a questionable penalty, the 2nd a questionable back pass from Kastrati! Kastrati had 2 players around him and did a soft as soft can be header back to Banai that only reached Szantho who said thank you very much, is it my birthday and slotted it home! Error there squarely on Kastrati and Banai.

We lost 3-0. 2 assists for Ristevski, he is such a liability! I live in hope that one day he will learn to assist his own team & not the opposition!

Not an impressive performance from Vad. Inconsistent beyond belief really and he lost control at one point for about 5-10 mins. Can't say I am happy to see him back!

Missed penalty by Farkas for Fradi. Handball under the current LOTG. He was unsighted by players and I think it would have been completely on Antal Péter's blind side.

In the Magyar Kupa:

This appears to no longer be the case! NBII referees are doing round 9 this season which is played tomorrow and Wednesday. Péter Antal, Bence Csonka & Mihály Káprály all have games but they are NBII who also referee in the NBI.  The only official NBI referee with a game is Tamás Bognár who is refereeing Fradi v Vidi who are accepted as the 2 biggest clubs in Hungary.  No AARs either.

Is this another branch of the Vad dynasty? Or is it a common surname?

Article on NSO: https://www.nemzetisport.hu/sportnaptar/vad-jatekvezeto-dinasztia-apa-fiu-lany-2149931  Can't see when it was writte but Vad II says he is 31 & he's 41 nearly 42 now so around 10 years ago.  I've done a rough translation below. There's a nice photo of the 3 of them together.

Vad referee dynasty: Father, son, daughter

It is not an everyday story: there is a footballer, István Vad, who will be known as a referee after finishing his career, and then his son will also put his life to the pitch. Of course, the sloppy point is not this, but that the heads of the family head have become at least as "interesting" as the former FTC football player: first István Vad II, who is even faster rising on the FIFA ladder. his sister, who also started leading matches. And she is already the fourth professional in the family ...

He was a child when ten out of ten young people wanted to be football players. Born in 1953, István Vad's dream came true, he was able to play in Ferencváros, he achieved a total of 12 league goals during his two years with adults, and he is still proud to have won the MNK in 1976 and his team in the 1976–1977 championship. helped me with my championship bronze medal.

“I started with the Ebedli Zoli in the Fradi in one thousand nine hundred and sixty-nine and belonged to the green-whites for eight years,” István Vad recalled his memories in the July 18, 2008 issue of NS . - To this day, what my coach, Jenő Dalnoki, said in front of one of the leading matches: Vadkám, because that's how he called, the number of meters he crosses the halfway line back, he pays so many thousands of forints. Leave the organization to Uncle Ebedli and Uncle Nyilasi, I want to see you in front of your opponent's gate. "

Well, those who saw him playing football say that István Vad did not have a body part with which he could not score a goal ... He finished football at the age of 33, in Volán 22, but by then he was already past the successful refereeing exam. .

We do not claim that he made a surprise to his father with his decision: István Vad Sr. also judged, although he only made it to the Budapest Championship. The boy, the former player from Ferencváros, judged 106 matches in the Hungarian lead between 1990 and 1998, but he always complained that he could not lead a single match to the FTC.

Although he asked the referees' then boss, Miklós Nagy, to say goodbye to the Fradi match, he blew the whistle for the last time in the first class in the Siófok-Stadler duel. At that time, there were such unforgettable international meetings as the Ajax-Bayern Munich clash, but the ninety minutes on Megyeri út and Diósgyőr are also a lasting memory, after which he could only leave the stadium by police car ...

What was first given to him at the age of 38 (judging in an international match) happened in the life of his son, István Vad II, at the age of 27. The young man began his playing career at RTK, then starred in Ferencváros and BVSC as a young man, and then cast his vote for the "whistle craft" very early on.

“When Dad was refereeing, I always went to matches, I was there with him in the locker room, and I quickly fell in love with the milieu that surrounds the referees’ lives, ”István Vad II explained four years ago about his career choice.

“I was still playing football when I started refereeing, and then I realized relatively quickly that as a footballer, I could hardly run into a big-arched career. At the age of sixteen I was leading a children’s match, BLASZ II came, then NB III, I got into the national framework and I have been a FIFA judge for two years now. My goal was the same as it was when I started on the track: I want to reach the next step. "

István Vad I claimed that his son did not become a top referee because of him. The child was not helped by the tailwind, but by being able to judge body-to-body play situations better as a former footballer than by learning the rules from a book.

No one would be surprised if István Vad II claimed that his father was his role model in the profession, but this is not the case. As he said, there is no judicial ideal for him, but there are many colleagues from whom it is worth losing something. Either how he disciplines it or how he aligns the line wall.

As part of the learning process at the time the article was born, “Little Wild” was just past an Israeli Intertoto clash, but then World Cup qualifiers, the U19 European Championships in Ukraine, the Singapore Youth Olympics (including the opening match!), The European Championships. he also took part in qualifying matches and last summer at the U20 World Cup in Colombia, and in the meantime he took another big step in the fall of 2010: at the age of 31 he was now able to blow in the BL as well.

And this year, in the Ukrainian-English European Championship group match in Donetsk, Viktor Kassai (and other compatriots) on the side of the goalkeeper came, and that certain unspecified Marko Devics hit beyond the goal line, which greatly amplified the voices supporting the introduction of new technologies, and the reform process itself.  Just to point out this was Vad's error - he was AAR!

However, there are other interesting things in the life of István Vad II. Enthusiastic about his progress, his 12-year-old sister, Anita Vad, as an 11th grade high school student, decided that she would certainly not spend the weekends (only) at house parties, but on football fields. In December 2007, she applied for a refereeing course herself, and since then she has experienced that sometimes the thread of football mothers breaks ...

“The example was in front of me, as both Dad and my brother lead, but I don’t deny it, I was also greatly influenced by the Chinese World Cup for Women Footballers,” said the pretty young lady, who has been in the ranks ever since 2008. - I completed the course and made my debut as a referee in the Rojik – RTK match.

I have a hard time getting used to how much parents sometimes lose their heads, but dads have prepared me for how to handle these situations. My dad is a big support for me anyway: he’s there for each of my matches and tells me what I did well when I should have decided otherwise. Anyway, I've ever blown the whistle and I knew right away that I was wrong. "

Ask yourself the question: how far can you get on this track as a woman? It can be built that both the father and the brother "fought for themselves" on the international stage, and although it takes years to make dreams come true, in front of Anita Vad there is already a model outside the family: Gyöngyi Gaál.

And now do not think about how the latter might have seen the obvious two-handed ball catch of Bruna of Africa at the adult women's World Cup Australia-Equatorial Guinea meeting (3-2) last year, but that he became a FIFA referee at all (and was called to such a prestigious tournament) from Hungary. . This can (should) be the example to follow ...

5 match ban for Tallo for his disgraceful conduct at the weekend.

The ban only applies to league games so Tallo did play in the Magyar Kupa last week.  What a different player he was as well.  Instead of his mouth being the only part of him that moved, he kept his mouth shut & instead moved the rest of him. Scored 1, albeit a penalty and played a vital role in the winner.  He caused the Felcsút defence so many probs, he was everywhere. This Tallo I like!  Hopefully this is an indication of lesson learned but...

Not the best of afternoons for Mr Farkas. He wore red & therefore #SolymosiWatch was in red which is always mega brownie points in bmbs eyes, however...

Things started to go horribly wrong for him in the 5th min. Bit of a thing between Kiss and Branko where Branko ended up stamping on Kiss' thigh. It was not a deliberate stamp, I will make that clear right away, Branko was up in the air and there was no way he could avoid a high degree of contact on landing. I do think he could have landed just on his left leg & kept his right leg raised a bit but genuinely don't think he realised. He looked horrified & shocked by it & was straight down attending to/comforting Kiss.  I love Branko, he is my favourite player but he should have been off. It ticked every single box for a straight red. He was given a yellow so was very lucky to stay on the pitch. Branko is a tough tackler but he is also a very honest player, and would never set out to hurt anyone. He has no nastiness in him at all.

Not 5 mins later Vincent elbowed someone in the face, again not intentional - my players have not all turned into vile thugs overnight, but he did recklessly throw his arm back as he jumped up & the Felcsút player behind him copped it right in the face.  I'd have accepted a red (grudgingly in lilák tints as a fan) let alone a yellow for it - he got neither. 2 errors in my teams favour, 1 definately a key match error, 1 maybe not a key match error but poor from a referee of his experience and standing.

The next one was against us - a penalty.  Knezevic going in on goal, Banai pulled out of going in for a tackle & stopped about 6 inches short of Knezevic who jumped up in the air as if he'd been kicked and flew forward landing about 3 feet away! Should have been a defensive free kick and a yellow for Knezevic for diving. A penalty was given & Banai wrongly given a YC. It would have been on the blind side of AAR Csonka Bence, no way he could see if there had been contact. I'll give Mr Farkas the benefit of doubt here because it's possible from his angle it looked like contact had occurred. With the benefit of replays, which he did not have, it was a wrong call.

With VAR Lilák would have been down to 10, possibly 9 but not have had a penalty against them & we've only reached the 34th min!

The 13th min booking of Perosevic was spot on though. He took some Felcsút player out with his trailing leg. Yes he won/played the ball and he can whinge all he wants (and he did just that!) the fact is winning the ball did not negate the foul he committed while doing so, he should know this by now!  He was lucky in 1 way that Mr Farkas is quite chilled or he could easily have seen a 2nd yellow for dissent & would not have been able to, legitimately at least, complain about it! It did sort of feel a bit of a harsh yellow though especially in view of the Branko & Vincent decisions!!

2nd penalty at 45+1. This time in Liláks favour.  Correct call. Tóth clearly fouled Perosevic, it was a close call though, it was 1 on 1 and had Tóth held off for even just a split second it would have been Perosevic committing the foul & a 2nd YC for him! It was a case of who blinked first & it was Tóth.

So half time it was 1-1. Lilák clearly benefitting from Branko not being sent off after 5 mins, Felcsút benefitting from a wrongly awarded penalty. The Vincent one is harder to call, both a YC & a RC would have been justifiable, as it was in the centre circle a YC would have probably been more justifiable than a red but Vincent was reckless with his jump and to take no action at all was a wrong call. Not a game changer as much as the other 2 wrong calls.

Second half he was much better and refereed more how you would expect him to. A steady 2nd half performance. 2 bookings one for Nunes on 55 min & one for Kastrati at 90+2, both correct calls. Felcsút got their winner on 72 min, no-one to blame for that but Liláks defence.

Overall a 7.8 performance for Mr Farkas.  Shame, he simply had a bad day at the office. 2 key match errors in the failed red and wrongly awarded penalty and 1 big wrong call in relation to the elbow by Vincent.  That could be classed as a key match error if your view is it should have been a red, personally I think a yellow would have sufficed but to take no action was wrong. It was only his 2nd game back from injury and I feel he wasn't match sharp yet. I expect better from him & 9.9/10  we do get better from him. No-one is going to be more disappointed than himself with the first half.

On the brightside - the lovely Mr Solymosi looking mighty fine in red - that was the best highlight of the game!  ;D

Not the best of afternoons for Mr Farkas.

He also had a key match error in his first game back. He missed a clear penalty for Fradi in that one. 2 games in the Spring season - one a 7.9 the other a 7.8, they're not good stats.

Hope it's just a bit of rustiness after being out injured and he is back to his best soon. He is certainly capable of much better.

2 big derbies there  8)

The Felcsút v Vidi match can often be a very ill tempered affair! It ends up in front of the disciplinary committee more times than it doesn't! It's not technically a derby Felcsút is a postage stamp sized village in Fejér county (population circa 1600), boyhood home of Mr Orbán the Prime Minister, who still has a property there. His kitchen window over looks the ground. Székesfehérvár is also in Fejér county and one of the largest and oldest cities in Hungary, 8th/9th largest with a population of circa 98,000 and established in 972. (Hungary was established in 895) There's around 40km between them. Felcsút were rebranded as Vidi's academy in 2005. Several problems, they were allowed to use Puskás Ferenc name, despite him having absolutely no links to Felcsút whatsoever, coupled with a legal ban against Honvéd, the only club he ever played for, using his name being the biggest issue. As a club they will never be accepted by any Hungarian football fan for that alone (the Hungarian MK Dons) . They have never been an academy! Up until this season when covid forced them to use their U21 NBIII team, they had one of the oldest squads & less than half the squad are Hungarian, let alone Hungarian youth players!  It is seen as nothing but a vanity project (albeit a successful one) of the PM, his childhood friend is the owner.  The ground is stunning but has a capacity nearly 3 times the size of the population!  Vidi ground shared there for a number of years whilst their new stadium was being built - they hate each other. Well everyone hates Felcsút but Vidi have a deep hatred for them! Vidi are allegedly the PM's team although he is also on record as being a Lilák supporter & a Fradi supporter! He's worse than bmb for having a number of teams! Generally the whole of Hungary "support" any team representing the country in Europe, the exception being Felcsút, everyone just wants them to get utterly humiliated!!

Neither of the other 2 are derbies. Mezőkövesd is a town in Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén county, Northern Hungary. Budafok is the name of district XXII in Budapest. 165km between them.  Fradi is district IX in Budapest, on the Buda side of the city. Paks is in Tolna county about 150km south!

Újpest v Kisvárda Master Good
Referee: Erdős József

In the main a steady and decent performance from the black clad Mr Erdős however he did miss a clear cut penalty for Kisvárda.  Branko having gotten away with a red card last week, got away with not having a penalty given against him.  He's a lucky lucky boy! Sadly puts it as a 7.9 for Mr Erdős.  It was a key match error but it was quite near the end of the game & Lilák were 3-0 up and cruising so perhaps not as game changing as it could have been potentially.

MTK Budapest v ZTE
Referee: Andó-Szabó Sándor

Liking Mr Andó-Szabó's new favourite shirt of choice - red.  I can't fully forgive him for ruining the lovely Mr Solymosis perfect nincs sárga record, that was a cardinal sin, but by wearing red in 4 games since, including today & blue twice I no longer cuss the mere mention of him! That and he is the only referee with a satisfactory performance today.  He can be a bit hyper when bounding over to dish out a yellow but that's nothing to be moaned about.  Penalty against ZTE - correct call.  I will point out that he is the only referee who I have ever seen go over to a corner to check the ball is in the D.  Have seen him do this in 4/5 different matches now - on the opposite side to his AR obviously. Might seem a bit pedantic to some but I like to see it.  Far too often the ball creeps forward 5/6inches and goes unchecked.

DVTK v Budapest Honvéd
Referee: Bogár Gergő
Black shirt

Mr Bogár is not going to be happy when he re-watches back the goal he disallowed on 90+4 for DVTK. DVTK are rooted to the bottom of the table & those 3 points would have seen them only 1 point behind Budafok in 11th & 3 points behind Honvéd in 9th.  As a Honvéd fan I breathed a sigh of relief but I am at a loss as to why it was disallowed.  The player was nowhere near being offside, it wasn't a tight call, there was a good 1.5-2 feet in it and absolutely no foul anywhere to be seen. Poor call from him/his AR, a key match error and a huge game changer.  It was literally the last kick of the game.

Újpest have been called Újpest since they were formed in 1885, apart from a short period 1950-1956 when under communist rule they had an enforced name change to Bp. Dózsa SE (Budapesti Dózsa Sport Egyesület).  After the 1956 revolution the name reverted back to being Újpest.

Now I’m confused 😃

The team who keep changing their name is Vidi - Videoton, MOL Fehérvár or whatever they are currently called, the fans just continue to call them Vidi whatever the sponsors name is - having just watched them they should be called cranky toddlers in need of a nap or badly behaved brats or ill disciplined 'word-that-would-see-me-end-up-on-the-naughty-step-again' or similar!! Very tough game for the lovely Mr Solymosi today down to 2 very ill disciplined teams who completely embarrassed themselves with their behaviour!

Újpest are the oldest team in Hungary & are Fradi's big rivals.  That game is the biggest derby match in Hungary, best played with both sets of ultras who make it an occasion to remember.  The pyros are amazing!

Ferencvárosi 5-2 Paks
Going to give a mention to Karakó Ferenc who put in an excellent performance yesterday. 2 penalties, 1 for each team, the one for Paks was a bit soft, imo, however it was not incorrect which is more important. Lovrencsics gave him the decision to make & he made it. The Fradi one was a good call.  Only 2 yellow cards in the game, both correct and I don't feel he missed any. A couple of moments where he and players shared some chat and smiles, a rarity in his games and it was lovely to see.  Noticed it in his last game as well. He himself was more relaxed and it made a huge improvement to his game, he was also able to manage players better instead of resorting to unnecessary cards. This is the Karakó I want to see every week. He can be proud of that performance.

Mezőkövesd Zsóry 2-1 Budafoki MTE
Berke - little of note in his game. 1 penalty which was spot on. Confident, assured performance. I am so disappointed he was not promoted to Category 2, he should have been.

Puskás Akadémia 1-0 Mol Fehérvár
I hope this one will be before the disciplinary committee when they meet tomorrow.  Shameful behaviour from both teams from start to finish. The player and bench conduct was a complete and utter embarrassment.  If only the rest of them had moved as much as their mouths did! Forget trying to tackle an opponent, the tactic was to whine and cry that the opponent had the ball in the first place. Niko and Fiola in particular followed the lovely Mr Solymosi everywhere & I'm sure they weren't asking for his autograph - they were non stop. Maybe next time the 2 teams play the MLSZ will order all of them to have gaffer tape across their mouths - seriously! It was a tough game for Péter & boy does he have the patience of a saint.  There were a couple of times when his facial expression gave away that he was thoroughly fed up with them acting like 2 year olds who had eaten too many sweets and missed their nap! 3 penalty shouts - all correctly not given.  The shout for Felcsút there was zero contact and the player was already falling over due to his own momentum so not a dive per se, didn't stop him appealing for a penalty though!  1st Vidi shout - perfectly legal shoulder to shoulder challenge initiated by Petryak who went down like a sniper had taken him out when he was outmuscled by his opponent. 2nd one for Vidi - oh Funsho hang your head in shame! There are dives and there are such obviously blatant pathetic dives and this was the latter, he did manage to move his right leg about 1 foot to his right to touch the defender on his way down - it was such an obvious movement as well, no discretion at all! Hajdu B István is probably still laughing at him! Péter not only refused the penalty but also gave him a yellow for simulation. I hope I am never on the receiving end of one of those looks from Péter, I think it safe to say that he was not impressed!!! 6 bookings in total.  Personally I'd have booked Niko & Fiola at kick off to shut them up but my patience levels with brats are a lot lower than Péters!

There was one thing started in the 62nd min and was just so embarrassing on part of the players!  I don't even remember what the original decision was but both sets of players started jumping up and down stamping their feet, waving their arms around, their mouths defying the laws of physics with the speed they were moving at. After 2 mins of this going on and various players holding the ball and trying to do a drop ball then a kick then a drop ball then a kick and continuing to throw tantrums encouraged by both tantrum throwing benches a very annoyed by now Mr S confiscated the ball, placed it down where he wanted the kick taken & indicated a Felcsút player should take it. Cue another round of tantrums although I'm surprised there were any toys left in the pram to throw! Bit of whispering between players & finally a Felcsút player took the kick but kicked it gently to a Vidi player standing near him, he kicked it back gently to I think the Vidi goalie who put the ball out for a throw! I hope both clubs get fined over it. Their conduct was shameful.

Credit to Mr S who got through it without killing anyone or marching off of the pitch to grab a number of chairs to put around and send the players into time out on them! Had we had the sin bin system he would have been able to go and pour himself a large pálinka while both entire teams cooled off in there!

Not his finest game but not down to him. When you have 22 players intent of being brats for 90 mins and with zero intention of actually playing a game of football there is literally nothing you can do about it.

Pintér Csaba had a nasty moment in his game in the NBII yesterday. Having given a corner to Gyirmót. Ball was cleared and ss it came back it he got absolutely whacked by it. Credit to the players who didn't wait for a whistle to signal a stoppage, they were straight over to him to check he was ok & called the trainers on from both teams I suspect to check for concussion. He did manage a whistle for stoppage at some point but the players had already stopped play themselves. He did carry on after being checked out with various players checking up on him. Play was restarted with a drop ball, Gyirmót passing the ball back to the Vasas goalkeeper in that sporting way.

Credit to both teams for their conduct although it did not surprise me from either of them. They have good reputations regarding respect. It was still nice to see although I would have preferred not to see one of our referees getting whacked in the first place!

Another managerial change. Boér Gábor has left ZTE and replaced by Waltner Róbert.  Not sure about this one myself, Boér Gábor looked absolutely defeated at the weekend, maybe he knew at the time of the post match interview he was gone but he's lovely and respectful in the main so I'm a bit sad for him. Waltner Róbert on the other hand was at Kaposvár and the first words out of his mouth after any game are "yeah but the referee...", dreadful coach, zero respect or class. Was glad when Kaposvár went down & we got rid of him...  :-\ My little soft spot for ZTE has gone! Their goalie is the NT U21 goalie & I love him as a player, hope he leaves for a better team & better coach! Káposvar are in all manner of problems at the moment after they lost a Magyar Kupa game & the manager & board of directors publicly accused the players of basically match fixing...

Congratulations to Solymosi Péter who becomes the 2nd highest referee in terms of NBI matches refereed. This is game 322 for him. Just 2 more games needed to set a new record. A fantastic achievement. Fitting that he gets the big Budapest derby for the achievement. Fully deserved appointment.

I am excited, happy and proud! Go be as awesome as I know you can be Péter. I'm not even bothered in the slightest that our most hated rivals are going to be officially crowned champions in the match against us! I'm all about team ref tomorrow and Péter's record making game.  It's a shame neither set of ultras will be present - I'd love for Péter to have that atmosphere but it's not to be.  I'm sure he will enjoy the match anyway.  Hope Mr Puhl sent a don't forget to wear red memo along with the appointment email!!

Not the best choice of referee for the relegation 6 pointer, imo. I have no doubts at all about Vad's integrity as a referee, he might not be very good or consistent but he is honest. For the Federation to put a well known Fradi fan in charge of a game that will either see Fradi's 2nd biggest rivals safe from relegation if they win or take the relegation battle to the last weekend if they lose or draw (they play Fradi on the last weekend) is wrong. It is not fair on him to put him in a position where every decision he makes will be scrutinised because he is a Fradi fan, it is wrong of the Federation to do that to him.

In terms of refereeing this past week or so the lovely Mr Solymosi had a decent game in the match that saw Fradi rightfully crowned as Champions, it's been coming since about Christmas! Actually that one was 11 days ago now! He wore red in the next match when he equalled Kassai's record for matches refereed which of course pleased bmb greatly! Mr Erdős put him in red on Thursday as well - thanks Mr Erdős.

Mr Puhl did not play nice and give me an extra #SolymosiWatch this weekend though.

Mr Bognár is the relegation king - last weekend he saw Budafok officially relegated, this weekend he saw ZTE officially safe.  The 2nd relegation spot is between DVTK & Honvéd.  Honvéd are 1 point ahead of DVTK & still to play this weekend as mentioned in the post above.  A win tomorrow will see them safe & DVTK relegated.  A draw or loss will take it to next weekend. Honvéd host champions Fradi and DVTK host 3rd placed Vidi.

Vidi still have a chance to finish 2nd, they need to win and need relegated Budafok to beat Felcsút.  That is a matter of pride as it will not affect the European places.  Vidi and Felcsút will finish 2nd and 3rd, it's just the order to be determined and both will get a Europa league spot. Paks are only 3 points behind Vidi but even if they were to beat Kisvárda next weekend and Vidi were to lose Vidi will remain ahead in the table.  They would have the same number of wins, the first determining factor if points are level but Vidi are +10 in terms of goal difference, the 2nd determining factor.  Paks would therefore need to win by 11 or more goals.  They beat Budafok 9-2 to send them down last week so anything is possible of course!

Monday is the Magyar Kupa final.  Missy bmb will be one of the small crowd there at the game! Flight booked for Monday morning and returning on Tuesday. Hajrá!! If Újpest win the cup then they will take the 3rd Europa League spot, if Vidi win it then Paks currently in 4th spot will qualify instead.

Huge call for Kulcsár Katalin last night as AAR in Paks v Puskás Akadémia.  Ball had crossed the line, just, before the keeper scooped it out.  It was her call to say yes or no to if it was a goal or not & replays show she was absolutely correct in calling it as a goal.  It was literally mm in it.  At the time Felcsút were 1-0 up, so it made the game 1-1, Paks went on to win 4-2. Absolutely great call - well done Katalin.

Budafoki MTE v Budapest Honvéd
Referee: Vad II. István

What a dreadful match & a very difficult afternoon for Mr Vad.  I think the trainers spent as much time on the pitch patching players up as the players spent on the pitch. Very physical game, overly so actually & by both teams. Vad handled it well though, you could see a couple of times he was getting frustrated by the players just kicking each other off of the park but his man management was decent.  Lovely goal from Mezghrani for the Honvéd winner. A defender who's not scored for about 3 years! Our strikers seemed more intent on seeing how many floodlights they could smash!

For the first time since I started watching the NBI 12 years ago the relegation battle will not be decided at 90+ mins on the last day! That's mental! I can enjoy #SolymosiWatch with the only stress being if it's also his retirement game or not! No-one will confirm to me if he is or isn't, they don't want to be the one to break my heart!

Solymosi Péter has done it! Well tomorrow he will at least! He will set a new record for the most number of games refereed in the NBI.  Absolutely delighted for him.

Not so happy that it's in a game where he can't wear red though!

I am sure that a certain Former FIFA Referee won't be too happy about that.

I'm assuming you mean the certain former FIFA referee who is currently completely ignoring me and no I don't think he is!!  Can't say for certain as he's not talking to me but...

The relegation battle may well have been over before the last game of the season for the first time in many years - I've been watching for 12 years & can't remember it happening but that didn't stop the weekend being bonkers!

For the first time since 1945/6 4 games on the last day of the season finished with 5 goals having been scored. The teams in 45/46 were Csepel MTK, Pécs VSK, MTK and Kispesti AC. Puskás Ferenc scored the 5 goals for Kispest!

Kispest were not one of the 4 teams with 5 goals this weekend, MTK were on the wrong end of a 5-1 scoreline. Felcsút, who the prime minister has allowed to be rebranded as Puskás Akademia despite no links at all to the late great Puskás Ferenc, won 5-0. Csepel ply their trade in the Budapest county league 1 and Pécs have narrowly missed out on promotion from the NBII to the NBI this season.

Mezőkövesd 5-1 MTK
Kispest 1-2 Fradi
Lilák 5-4 ZTE
DVTK 0-4 Vidi
Kisvarda 5-1 Paks
Felcsút 5-0 Budafok

The final table:

1.Ferencvaros (UCL Qual)
2. Puskas Academy (UEL Qual)
3. MOL Fehervar  (UEL Qual)
4. Paks
5. Kisvarda
6. Ujpest (UEL Qual as Magyar Kupa winners)
7. MTK Budapest
8. Mezokovesd
9.  Zalaegerszeg
10. Honved
11. DVTK - Relegated
12. Budafoki - Relegated

The NBII finishes next weekend and the promotion race goes right down to the wire. Vasas started today in 1st and ended it in 3rd!

1. Debrecen 77 points
2. Gyirmót FC Győr 75 points
3. Vasas 75 points

On the final day Debrecen host 9th placed Haladás, Gyirmót FC Győr host 14th placed Békécsaba and Vasas host 12th placed WKW ETO FC Győr.

Kazincbarcika. Kaposvár & DEAC have been relegated to the NBIII - that was decided today.

Debrecen & Vasas had FIFA referees today (Farkas  & Berke respectively) so I anticipate NBI referees at the least, if not FIFA refs on the games next Sunday.

Istvan Vad with assistants Istvan Albert and Theodoros Georgiou will handle the Greek SL match on Wednesday between Aris and Panathinaikos.

2 of our best assistants. Albert István is joint 1st/2nd with Tóth II Vencel.  He has been Vads #1 AR for many years as you will already know, Tóth being Kassai's #2 after Erős Gábor retired. Theodoros is one of the young crop of ARs we have and is excellent.  We have so many good young ARs right now, at FIFA level & just not the referees for them to be attached to!

Tamas Bognar (UEFA 1st) was VAR at the AEK - ARIS Greek SL match yesterday. The referee was Andris Treimanis (UEFA 1st).

How did Vad get on?

Good to see our referees getting some 'proper' VAR experience ahead of the new season.  They've been doing trial games with amateur referees playing games as teams. All good experience and was well arranged with the covid restrictions in place (well done MLSZ JB) but doesn't quite have the same weight as proper competitive games!

Just putting this here! I'm the only one who reads this thread regularly anyway!

Going to watch this a billion times over between now & the Euro's starting. The fact I start crying as soon as I hear Hajdú B. István is a minor detail! 1.11 onwards he is the commentator, you can hear him crying when Szoboszlai Dominik scores the goal that saw Hungary qualify for the Euros.  I love Hajdú B. István

Hajrá Magyarok!! Csak Együtt!!
