Title: Plymouth Nil v Blackpool N.Hair
Post by: guest4 on Sat 15 Sep 2018 18:24
Another home defeat in a standard abysmal start to a season. But I have to say what a bright young referee Mr Hair is , calmness personified with a great attitude towards the players, clamped down when needed let the game flow when he could , cautioned when needed and also sent off two Blackpool players for handbags in the final minute quite correctly I may add . Very little evidence of dissent because he didn’t induce any . Very accomplished performance and definitely the highlight of my day .

Was very good. I espeically liked that when Cullen claimed he was elbowed, he definately wasn't, he ran up to him and told him to get up. The moment he realised he wasn't getting a FK, he started to hold his face and he still played on. Calm and assured. Thought he may of missed a handball, but having seen the replay he had little chance of moving his hand. He has definately got a future in the game, had a similar impression on me as Rob Jones officiated his first Argyle game.

Despite his youthful appearance I don't think he is that young.  Has been around on the non-league scene for years, and I would guess he is mid to late 30s.  Very calm and composed referee though and not afraid to make the big decisions.  As well as sending off a player 45 seconds into the National League play off final, he was also responsible for this sending off after 10 seconds.

Your guess is spot on. He was 37 in June so he is either 37 or 38 now !

I've seen Neil Hair a couple of times in the National Conference. Steady, unshowy, self confident without tiresome displays of ego, prepared to make tough decisions. I don't think he will go to the top but will be a very valuable addition to the slow burners in Divisions 1 and 2 with perhaps a chance at SG2 in a few years.

Always been highly competent when I've seen him in non-league and development games. Quite frankly anyone can get to SG2 these days, if the face fits.
