Does anyone have a theory as to why Lewis Smith wasn’t promoted? He’s still officially a national list referee after a season of regular Championship appointments and several Prem games too. Then he starts off this season with a TV Championship game as well . Seems strange to me
He had a shocker at Craven Cottage and maybe elsewhere in another trial?
And that’s fair for an SG1 promotion, but the PGMOL obviously see him fit to be an SG2 referee with an appointment at Hillsborough on Sunday!

The only other thing mentioned previously is that it is the North Riding clubs in capital letters as seen on the other threads, York City, Scarborough Athletic, Pickering Town etc. But the why remains unanswered.

it just seems to be the way North Riding register their teams. The above is the League figures for the York League and ALL North Riding clubs are in CAPS whereas East and West Riding clubs are in normal type.

I don’t think Barrott was ever officially SG2, just made his way up through the ERDP.

Well when I was on the line for Tom Kirk, he said “there’s no space in the championship therefore no one has been promoted” although Sam Barrott has gone up to SG1 so surely there’s one space?

Referee: Allison, Sam
Assistant Referee: Fox, Andrew
Assistant Referee: Hunt, Jonathan

I've probably missed an explanation somewhere but is there any significance to Middlesbrough being in capital letters?
I've asked that many times and nobody knows.

It's how they appear in MOAS. There a a variety of oddities with team names lower down the scale throughout MOAS. Presumably the person who originally entered the team had caps lock on. Just be grateful they spelt it correctly. It seems to be spelt incorrectly as often as not. AAA does quite enough transcribing all the fixtures into this forum; I am sure we don't expect him to amend the case of MIDDLESBROUGH every time they appear as well.
I don't think anyone has suggested that.

Oh joy Madley back after spending parts of last season injured again.
Interesting that a number of referees have both a middle and 4th duty on the opening weekend whereas six don’t feature at all - Bell, Welch, Whitestone, Doughty, Eltrincham and Simpson.
Linington starts the season with 2 4O official appointments on the back of spending most of the latter half of last season doing similar duties which included 10 in succession for some hitherto unexplained reason.
Welch is currently at the Olympics so will probably have a break before starting the season. Bell, Doughty Eltringham and Whitestone all feature in the League Cup midweek. Simpson is the only SG2 absent from all fixtures in any role. Martin and Linington yet to have middles but active as 4O

Good to see the "old" L2s as 4th officials. Will be great experience for them
-
No surprise to see Smith and Madley open up proceedings this season.
Donohue with the ex PL teams clash at Luton and Stroud already racking up the miles.
