88/89 - says it in the description.

Ian has been sharing loads of his photos, fantastic trip down memory lane for any longer term AFCB fans. I link them here when there is a referee in shot to keep the guys on here amused and hopefully out of mischief for a minute or 2! ;)

I've just started following him. Some wonderful pictures and great identification on there.

Those 50s finals pics come from the Mansfield Kit Suppliers ads of the time that used to appear in The Referee, which frustratingly was very formal and only gave initials until the 70s

ANother terrible refereeing display. Allowing a terrible incident when McParland charged into Man United goalkeeper Ray Wood forcing him from the field. Unfortunately, very legal back then. Wood had to be replaced by a Jackie Banchflower who went in goal, and Wood came back on in the second half with concussion and played up front. Villa won 2-1 and denied the Busby Babes the double. WHat is also a shame is Wood never played in a major final again and he had to retire from football due to injuries in the Munich Air Crash

Who knows what would have happened had he disallowed the goal...

One of two possibilities, although I'm not putting any of Mrs AT's housekeeping money on them - Terry Holbrook or Ray Bigger, both of whom finished on the League list at the end of the 1994/95 season. Both were tall fellows and I knew Ray from RA days, and the photo bears a more than passing resemblance to him.

The referee look very much like Tony Ward, New Southgate. Assistants are David Dixon and David Buckeridge
