Referees 1925
« on: Sun 31 Jan 2021 17:34 »
On Monday 19th January 1925 the Athletic News announced that four referees (no names)
had been "struck off" as their performances were unsatisfactory

Looking at the 28 that did not re-appear for the following season
there are five that do not appear to have officiated after 12th January - (or at least made the 'papers)

R.R.Crump, who was born in 1874 and had therefore reached the (then) retirement age of 50
plus E.Farrar, R.W.Sharp, J.G.Shepperdson and T.H.Williams

On Saturday 1st August 1925 the Liverpool Echo (and others) stated that three referees
W.G.Day, H.Mason and E.E.Small (all were born in 1879) had been removed
because of discrepancies between their stated and actual ages

On Monday 10th August 1925 the Athletic News stated that the Football League
had written to Small stating that they had decided to retain his services for the season
