Hi, Steve. It looks like you already have all the referees from past Burnley matches, so may I ask if you could let me know who was in charge for Everton v Burnley on 21.03.1895, as none of the newspaper sources I've seen, appear to mention it.

Incidentally,  I have created a Burnley FC match database of 5,653 competitive games since 1885, and have just 64 missing referees. I am missing just 36 referees from the 5,514 Everton 'first class' matches in my database and am hoping to fill in any blanks in the list below.  As you have no doubt guessed by now, the majority of the missing referees are from the early years of the Football League.

All of these, bar one, are for League matches.

Hi John, I suspect that the match day programmes would be the best source to obtain the other officials for these matches, and my collection doesn't go back quite that far.

I will take a look at my newspaper scans later, but I suspect that may draw a blank.

However, you probably already know that items do occasionally appear for sale on Ebay, and this can also be a good source of information.

eg: I did a quick search and found the Burnley v Port Vale programme from 28.01.1950, and it also had a scan of the teams and officials, as well as the cover.

The referee for that match was Tom Helme.  I've seen your link before from some other threads, a very informative site (plus I notice it's on Tableau - an app I deal with every day in work)

Just a quick update.  As well as the replies from this thread (and thanks to all of you for helping out where you could) and some other EFC statto's have managed to find a few more:
