Kenneth "Ken" Hiley (Burnley)
« on: Fri 09 Apr 2021 14:55 »
The Blackburn Rovers v Nottingham Forest fixture arranged for April 26 (1965) after being postponed last Saturday, will now be played on April 27 (7.30).

This is to avoid a clash with the Ken Hiley charity match at neighbouring Burnley.

Mr. Hiley, a linesman, (aged 38) was killed recently in a car accident on his way to a match at Carlisle.

Hiley became a F.L. linesman in 1955

The crash occurred some time earlier (March 16th 1965) on the way to a Carlisle-Reading game. He was travelling with his father and match referee Colin Cooke when their vehicle spun off the road into a river. Ken Hiley and his father sadly drowned while Colin Cooke was injured.
