Harry Dempsey was a tax inspector in Glasgow whose last match in Scotland was to referee Motherwell v Falkirk on 28th October 1972

His job took him to Chelmsford where he was listed as an F.L. linesman in 1973-74

He moved again, to Nottingham, where he is listed for 1980-81 & 1981-82

Possibly he then moved to Stockport and came off the F.L. list as he not named in 1983-84

This is all a very long time ago. However, I have a vague recollection of Harry Dempsey moving to Stockport to work for a firm of accountants that was run by a FL referee :-

Or maybe he worked for that firm but remained resident in Nottingham ?

With regards to D Kyle. I think this is Donald Kyle who I believe was a Grade 1 official and was on the line for the 1960 European Cup Final at Hampden when Jack Mowat was the referee.

Donald Kyle also became a Referee Supervisor (Mowat was the Chief Supervisor) and was a close friend of Jack Mowat. Rollo was, indeed, his son. What is supposed to have happened is that Kyle Snr mentioned, in passing, to Mowat about the gifts (suits, I think) that Gordon, Kyle and David Mc Cartney (the 2nd linesman) received from AC Milan. Mowat passed this onto either/both UEFA and the SFA who investigated.

Clive Thomas is quite disparaging about Mowat in his book and seems to suggest Mowat received 'gifts' as a referee observer for FIFA in a WC tie in either Iran or Saudi Arabia
