I was intrigued to find them both being elevated to the F.L. linesmen's list in 1955
although neither was to make the referees list
As they both lived in the same road - Manchester Road, Kearsley, Farnworth, Bolton
I thought they might be brothers, but they were probably first cousins.
There are many Tatlock's in the area and not many had a second forename.
They were probably both the grandsons of Samuel (1862-1933) and Margaret Jane Killoran
Samuel and Margaret had 5 boys & 4 girls
Their eldest boy, Moses (1887-1957) married Mary Gwynne Bradley and had George (1917-1994)
The fourth son, Thomas (1891-1972) married Emily Jones and had John (1916-1989)
John was referee for -
31.10.53 Padiham v Earlestown
15.01.58 Lancaster City v Fleetwood Town
With the score at 3-3 in the 89th minute a Lancaster clearance struck Tatlock
and rebounded to a Fleetwood forward who passed inside for another to score the winner
07.04.58 Accrington Stanley Reserves v Lancaster City
and linesman for -
15.11.58 Chester v Boston United (F.A.Cup 1st Round)
George made the papers less often but the one where he did was notable
referee -
04.01.56 Durham City v Norton Woodseats (F.A. Amateur Cup)
Durham students planned to kidnap George
and hold him for ransom until the home club paid for his release
However George was tipped off and "the bird had flown"
when the students arrived at the Old Elvet Hotel (presumably
near the bridge of that name) at 10a.m.
Durham City stated that the students could "invade" the match
at half time with their collecting boxes to raise funds that way instead
