many thanks aia for filling the gaps guys, much appreciated.

i have in the process of this come across a few refs that i cant say ive heard of before.

A.Porter, A.Robinson, C.White, K.Walmsley, G.Trevett

they dont appear in top flight very often, ive noticed since the start of 74/75 season the same group of refs seem to appear more often but these guys filled in for the odd game here and there, and didnt appear with regularity.

You might see more of them in later seasons as they are mostly newly promoted referees at the time you are researching

Alan Porter, Alan Robinson, Gordon Trevett, Ken Walmsley, Clive White

Robinson & White became FIFA referees and both refereed the F.A. Cup Final

Alan Porter of Bolton served 8 seasons as a full FL ref but didn't feature much during this period. His claim to fame seemed to come in January 1975 when he refereed the 3rd round FA Cup tie between non-League Wycombe and 1st division high fliers Middlesbrough which ended 0-0, and he refereed the replay as well. Ken Walmsley, from my old neck of the woods on the Fylde coast, was just beginning his FL referees career in 1975. He served 13 seasons on the list and was regarded as a potential high flier when he first came on to the list at around age 35. However, as with Mr Porter, he didn't feature much and his claim to fame seems to have been refereeing the 2nd leg of the Final of the Football League Super Cup, Everton v Liverpool, at the start of his final season on the list. The FL Super Cup (SSSC) was a one-off competition for 6 clubs in the 1985/6 season and does not feature in Upton's. I do not remember anything about Mr G Trevett of Eccles who served just three seasons on the list as a full referee to 1975/6, but I recall Boris10 mentioning him previously.

From Left Field on old site -
Gordon Trevett did referee several top division matches in his final season including a visit to Villa on the final scheduled match of the season (1976). His final game seems to have been a rearranged West Yorkshire derby between Huddersfield and Bradford City. He was one of those referees to make the list at a late age and might have refereed more in the top division had he made the list a little earlier.

Thanks for this JT. It doesn't look as though Gordon Trevett ever made it south of Birmingham in his days as a FL ref, so it is small wonder that I did not come across him. In the light of your information, I can now add him to my database of PL and FL 'Final Games'.

completed 75/76,which turned out to be a real struggle.

ourlist unfortunately although updated has again expanded, duue to the crappy coverage in the newcastle papers, and due to sheffield matches also having poor coverage.

in addition to the matches above for G.Trevett  2 I can add are

23/08/75   Newcastle United   -   Leicester City
20/04/76   Leicester City   -   Leeds United

also i have a ref appearing from norwich, but he appears with various initials for his forename, Robinson, I believe its H.Robinson could be wrong though, a couple of others are read, [a.read??], and newsome, appears as b and a, but i thought his name was bob newsome
