Claud (sic) Arthur Newman

Born in Dover 25th February 1872
Son of William Ingram Newman (1848-1933) and Sophia Catharine (sic) Norris (1848-1927)

Moved to Reading 1893
Craftsman in Glass and a Signwriter

Played for Reading Reserves and local sides, also a prominent cricketer
Married Emeline Rose Minot (1872-1966), in Luton 1896
Three children - Claude (sic) 1898, Maurice 1904 and Mary Lilian 1908

Secretary of Reading Temperance Football League 1898-1907
Founder member of Kennet Freemasons Lodge

Linesman 1921 F.A. Cup Final at Stamford Bridge - Tottenham H. v Wolverhampton W.
Referee 1922 - Belgium v Netherlands (Amateur)
Referee 1923 - Belgium v France (Amateur)

Life Member of Referees Association
Died Monday 1st February 1954, aged 81, at 4 Bridge Street, Caversham, Reading
