I have some sad news regarding or member MarcWHU who many of you will know from the site as a long time lurker and PAR participant.
Marc diagnosed with a heart condition in 2013. It was fairly stable but declining slowly at the same time. Last year he was admitted to Harefield hospital in a very poorly condition and required resuscitation at least once. He was told at the time that a heart transplant was his only option. He was re-admitted to Harefield hospital on Thursday May 6th. His diagnosis was advanced heart failure and cardiomyopathy. On 14th May he was told that time had run out for a heart transplant and his heart was close to giving out completely.
We chatted via SM most nights and we agreed that when the time came I would close his account and make an announcement. We had a long chat across May 14th & 15th where he told me that he was going to speak to his parents that weekend, tell them his prognosis and would give them my phone number so they could contact me, he was planning to pass his SM account passwords etc on to a friend so they could make an announcement and close his accounts. The night of 15th May he messaged me saying I was to send Michael Oliver to the naughty step for wearing yellow and we had a lovely and funny chat, as we often did.
Around lunchtime on 16th May he messaged me again to tell me that he had a really bad night and he had deteriorated significantly. It was his goodbye to me, he told me that he believed it was his last day. He never read my response and none of the messages/emails I have sent him since have been read or replied to. His SM accounts are still open but the last activity on any of them was on 14th May. He seemed to deteriorate so rapidly and simply did not have the time to make all of the arrangements that he planned to do that weekend. I just hope that his parents were with him. My heart is absolutely breaking for them right now, he was only 28 and such a lovely, funny guy.
I will close his account, as I promised him that I would, over the next few days, I'm not ready to do so yet though. He always took great delight in sending me photos of Andre wearing yellow telling me to sort him out and we'd end up having a real giggle. I'm really going to miss that and the frequent laughs that we had.
Good night, sleep tight Marc, you will be sorely missed.
