And as a token of my gratitude here is a Clerihew

The Blower of Whistles
Chews on words as on gristles;
From good syntax quite unbound
Getting so much way wrong round.

Have I missed any comments on the current 4O two tone tops?

Which 2 tone tops?
Perhaps they have been around for a while but I've only noticed them this season.

Ah the utterly vile training kit! They are new this season and all the refs I know absolutely hate it!

We don't talk about it because it is vile!!

The thing I think I love the most on here is when you open a thread expecting to read some boring old the ref missed this, that and the other and are instead pleasantly greeted by poetry, literacy, cryptic clues, geography, trips down memory lane, mustard - or not - on referees torsos, how many shades of y****w you lot can conjure up in an attempt to not get sent to the naughty step for using vile words such as y****w, and all manner of just complete and utter randomness! Love it! Any threads not completely and utterly derailed are simply not worth reading!! Please don't ever stop...

I therefore feel I have permission to add a further irrelevance. ("He was irrelevant" would make a fitting epitaph for me).
Another silly moo:

A French text book had an exercise designed to show learners how (not) to use a dictionary. It involved asking young pupils to find the opposite of certain French adjectives. All would go well until the word given was "haut" (high.) Obviously the opposite is low, for which careful learners correctly found the translation "bas." Inevitably, though, several could be relied upon to ignore the telltale v to denote a verb and so suggest "meugler." Asked to check that back into English, they were puzzled to find "moo" - until it was pointed out that at Christmas they happily sang "The cattle are lowing, the baby awakes."

I would like to think my epitaph was " He was irradiative " or " He was irrecusable " or even " He was irrefragable " but none sadly would be accurate; more like  " He was irremediable "

Incorrigible?

One of the UEFA ref observers always says to me "ah my lovely, sweet, kind, very naive but extremely incorrigible friend..." He's a right charmer!

One fundamental reason - generally the correspondents on here view things objectively and comment appropriately on refereeing decisions and incidents, for example Jarred Gillett’s performance this afternoon.

Much more different and better world than the delights of Twitter. The vitriol pouring forth on there this evening is a joy not to behold. The foul language and slurs on there about the above individual are wholly unacceptable. And the authorities just let it happen because the Twitterati feel as though they have to get angry about something.

So I’ll stick to Rate the Ref to voice my own objective opinion (without slurs or swearing or incorrect use of English) and look at other opinions from those who officiate sport at most levels to gauge what they think. The opinions of those on here carry a lot more weight than the peabrains who defile what should be a good social media portal.

Rate the Ref is the number 1!

Thank you Ian. Appreciate the post. We have a great set of posters, overall which is always helpful!

I do sometimes wonder how our posters behave on Twitter though! Are you all as well behaved on there? Come on be honest now!

I must be one of the most boring to follow on Twitter, all Hungarian football, MH advocacy and praising refs. Never get any comeback with the MagyarFoci Twitterati, no-one even batted an eye when I praised Bognár for a great advantage in the Kispest game this eve!

Rate The Ref is an excellent forum. Overwhelmingly people express themselves cogently and with courtesy and so may disagree in good faith without fear of ad hominem attacks. Those who do stray over the line of reasonable conduct tend not to last very long here. Much credit and thanks must be given to the Moderators who do a fantastic job in keeping the forum clear of bigotry and ensuring everyone plays nicely and to our many contributors who bring such interesting perspectives.

Forum owner is a bit of a maverick though and spends most of her time on the naughty step in a padded room but ya know... Just don't tell Edy or Charlie I have a hidden fridge full of chocolate & fruity cider, a hidden stash of pálinka, a coffee machine and photos of all the refs on my totty list hidden under the sofa or they might build a new less comfortable naughty step for me!

The new padded room is ready. We got rid of everything from the last one. So now it's a little uncomfortable for bmb.

Plus, it's painted in Yellow.....
I know that I know nothing

The Mikado's "object all sublime" was to make "the punishment fit the crime "   So, as W S Gilbert never wrote, but might have

The ratetheref owner whose kindly and mellow except in the colour of shirt,
Each referee fellow will wear shades of yellow whenever with her they shall flirt.

I think the admirable Whistleblower should concoct a book portraying his exceptional poetic talents. 😜😜😜

How very kind. Exceptional they may be but hardly for reasons of poetic merit. When I was a youth, greetings cards used to contain scraps of verse. The doyenne of this oeuvre was Patience Strong. If such a practice makes a come-back perhaps I might have a late flowering career in such a field.
