Viktor has resigned as the head of refereeing in Russia.

Whether reasons come out publicly or not I don't know so I will comment no further although I will quote my post on my NBI thread from earlier. No-one but me reads there!

bmb will doubtless have access to privileged information, but according to the statement issued on the web-site of the Russian FA he is leaving because he is unhappy about certain organisational changes within the association that affect his position (https://www.rfs.ru/news/214364 — in Russian).  Sport-Ekspress reckons that the favourite to succeed him is Bjorn Kuipers, with Nicola Rizzoli (recently relieved of his duties in Italy) and Milorad Mažić also in the running.  The same article describes Kuipers as a millionaire, which, if true, makes one wonder why on earth he would want the job.

Milorad Mazic is Head of Refereeing in Cyprus so a little difficult to take the job.

Apparently the official announcement of the appointment is due on Thursday.  According to Sport-Ekspress Messrs Rizzoli and Kuipers were rejected because of their lack of experience in teaching the theory of refereeing.

I'd be amazed if Kuipers considered the role for even a second - he's a millionaire, he's very popular in his native country, and he's already been discussing roles within the UEFA/FIFA fraternity.
