4 part series starting next Monday.  Look forward to watching it.

Opening clip in the teaser is Anthony Taylor & team. Welled up a bit at the clip of Hategan, I'm pretty sure that was about the day his Mum died, the anniversary of that must be in the next few days. I may not like him as a referee but he showed such enormous courage and strength that day.

Shame it's not on any "normal" TV channel. I would have liked to see that.  :(

It's free to watch online via the UEFA website

Not sure that's the best title considering the recent development of female officials...!

It looks an interesting documentary though.

I hope it's open and covers some of the more controversial moments rather than seeming too 'polished'. The Euro 2008 one focussing on instances such as the offside Mike Mullarkey missed was well done. It gave a real insight into the fact officials were accountable and under scrutiny and showed his personal disappointment, whilst also having some balance and showing them trying to move on from it.

Hearing conversations could be very interesting. You could hear some of Taylor's comments today and I think it gives the referee much more authority - 'come on lad, get up. It's a foul, nothing more' and 'Don't turn your back - keep your eyes on the ball' at a corner.

I wonder if it was originally meant to include Euro 2020?

First episode is now out.

Some interesting stuff, although I'd have liked to see a bit more discussion about individual decisions and an assessment of if they were correct or not. The Euro 2008 documentary was a bit more open on this.

The decision to allow the goal in the Man City V Spurs game seemed a bit hasty, although not sure if we got the full exchange. I do wonder if there are added complications when officials from different countries are working together, not so much in terms of language communication but fact they are not as used to working together so perhaps don't have same level of trust.

I agree a little more emphasis on the refereeing, more in match communications and a little less on the highlights from the matches, albeit beautifully shot, would've been good but I guess its aimed at a wider audience not just a refereeing one.

I thought they all came across well, in particular Turpin, Skomina and Rosetti I thought spoke very well.

Looking forward to next weeks instalment!

Agree - Turpin is just way too cute!!

The more I see Rosetti the more I like him.

Cakir with the little mascot

Nice to see Mr Vassaras albeit in the background a couple of times!

It was filmed quite a while ago - I miss this dude on the pitch :(

Yes I forgot to mention Cakir with the mascot! Indeed I saw a video recently of him with I think some kids of academy team in Turkey (could be totally wrong as I couldn't understand any of what was being said) again Cakir seemed to have a real affection for everyone, comes across as a very kind man. I'm sure that good nature helps with his refereeing. I loved his confidence in correctly going against VAR, very well handled I thought.

I think/hope we will get to see more of him in the series. He does come across as a lovely guy despite his mean and moody look! One of the best refs in recent years, I prefer his style since he relaxed a bit more and wasn't as strict as in his earlier days.

Agree totally, one of the finest referees I think we've seen, I think some of his performances in WC and CL games have been as good as we've seen. I hope he is in with a chance of the Euro final next year maybe then he won't just be remembered as the semi final man!!

Let’s hope the favourites turkey get knocked out early on! 👍😁

With the World Cup Final being played a week before Christmas in 2022 surely someone from Turkey must referee it, if only to give the tabloids something to pun about.

Unfortunately, I don't think there are any referees from Turkey on the long list of referees for the tournament!

I'm not sure there's any females referees either come to think of it? Wonder if that might change.
