Awful news.
My condolences to his family and loved ones.

Thoughts also with the youngsters who were taking part in the game. I hope someone is also looking after them.

What a terribly sad thing to happen. In offering condolences to Mr Grant's family and friends perhaps they may be slightly comforted by the fact that he died doing something he really enjoyed and where he was held in such clear and well deserved respect.

Has made me think this.

I was knocked out by a ball hitting me on the back of the head a few weeks ago.
Laughed it off as I did when I played.
Okay now but just proves you never know.

Condolences to this Referee's friends, family and colleagues. Hope the players are receiving the necessary support too

I thought earlier but didn't say it - I think this brings a whole new slant to the debate about heading. So tragic that something players do countless times in a game i.e head the ball can cause a death so easily.

How very sad - when I played many years ago I hated heading the ball so I didn't and was always ridiculed for not doing so and was not picked for teams as a result - so i gave up playing and took up refereeing instead
