Tony Harrington - Liverpool vs Derby
« on: Wed 09 Nov 2022 22:22 »
Tony Harrington was good tonight. Only issue from him was not booking a derby player late on for a challenge on Ben Doak. Also, he allowed too much time wasting throughout from the Derby keeper.

However, he was let down by Shaun Hudson who ignored the fact the derby keeper was off his line on 4 out of the 5 penalties and clearly used this to his advantage saving a penalty and causing Firmino to miss. After the first penalty and the save the keeper was warned by Shaun Hudson but he didn’t ask for a retake.

Had Liverpool lost that shoutout an injustice would have been done.

I’m baffled to how the assistant referee doesn’t flag for this or that the referee doesn’t spot it for himself. Unacceptable really.

Firmino missed because he tried to be too clever in his run up and then took an awful penalty.

It's a free shot at goal; it shouldn't matter where the keeper is (especially a couple of yards further forward), but penalties are missed because humans are taking them.
