John Brooks Aston Villa v Manchester City 6.12.23
« on: Thu 07 Dec 2023 10:51 »
Another very impressive performance from the man in black (especially for bmb) Mr Brooks last night, stayed in the background, let the game flow, had the respect of the players, sanctioned where necessary.
The game was generally played in a good spirit which helped Mr Brooks just as much as he helped the game.
In my opinion Mr Brooks is progressing well this season and deserves a few more of the high profile games, he along with Mr Barrott and a rejuvenated Mr Kavanagh after hus recent lay offs ate certainly up there with Oliver and Taylor this season.
Brilliant performance from my team last night, after a couple of brilliant saves by Martinez from Haaland efforts we outclassed last seasons treble winners, cant remember too many teams doing that in the recent past.

A cracking game.  I can't remember enjoying watching a match on TV as much as this one for ages.  Good performance from John Brooks who didn't get in the way of two teams wanting to play football.  Also very good from Akhil Howson who had a close ball in/out on the far-side goal line which correctly ruled out a goal and some good offside calls.  Lee Betts did little wrong; maybe could have flagged for one foul that was missed by Mr Brooks.  Anthony Taylor looked like he was enjoying himself, disguised under a woolly hat, with the boards.

I agree except for the bit about enjoying the game, though if I were a Villa supporter I certainly would have!
