Interesting clip and translation here of a VAR decision in the Netherlands.

First time tonight that English VAR wasn't out of Stockley Park, and rather they were in a van in the car park.

Absolutely disgusting challenge in last nights game between H Berlin and Schalke in the 13th minute. Challenge ticked all the boxes for a red card: straight leg, over the top of the ball, studs up! In fairness to herr brych I think his view is blocked, and he gives a yellow!

VAR is in use in Germany, why did the var not say to brych you need to looo at this challenge and decide whether it’s yellow or red and I guarAntee he would have changed his decision! What’s the point in having it if it isn’t going to be used for what’s its supposed to?

Whilst you have the same people operating VAR as those making mistakes on the field, all one big cosy (well paid) group, it won't work effectively. Good VAR decision makers whose expertise lies purely in decision making - not fitness, man management, pandering to spoiled brats of players etc - should do the job.  It doesn't need a fellow referee thinking "I can see why he got that wrong", it needs someone to say "that was wrong".

Likewise it needs someone to go "that's a foul in the penalty area" it's a penalty. None of this nonsense of "there's not enough in it"

VAR is used at Stamford Bridge and rightly overturns a penalty decision, however, should it not have been a corner to Sheffield Wednesday?
A bounce ball was given to the Chelsea keeper and within less than a minute Chelsea have a penalty at the other end and that was a correct decision.
My question is ---why was a bounce up given?
Referee's decision used to be final!

I was going to ask this too. I didn't understand why it wasn't a corner?

I'm not 100% certain but I suspect Andre Marriner blew the whistle before the ball was out of play in which case a corner technically can't be given - although it does seem very unfair that the ball was simply given to the Chelsea goalkeeper rather than allowing Sheffield Wednesday to contest it in some way.

There is not a cat in hells chance he could have blown beofre the ball went out.

Very much an incorrect restart

Law quite clear - drop ball at point of incident and everything else after is irrelevant.

Couldn’t agree more! Also does the VAR look at encroachment or the penalty taker pausing as the ball is approached, as I felt William may well have done

Excuse my ignorance, I have been retired a long time but which Law states this and just what does it say?
Referee's decision used to be final!
