Thanks - so confirmation the system will be used at World Cup. I think that it will be a good development for VAR.

Ideally, there would be some mechanism in place to alert fans and viewers if the system has indicated a likely offside which the VAR is just confirming.

If the assistant delays the flag and indicates over the headset they believe it to be offside, I wonder if something will be built in to allow the VAR to confirm this if the system indicates it? In time, that could stop the game from carrying on if the offside decision is known to be correct.

With the delayed flag, I still think that was something the Premier League got right initially and the approach of the assistant raising the flag but the referee delaying the whistle was preferable. It at least gave fans an idea of the likely final decision.
