It was a pity the match ended with such a bad error by the officials because overall Darren England had a good game.

To be fair it might have been difficult for him to see from his angle and I think he suspected the ball was put into the net with a hand because he ran across to consult with his AR. The AR had an unobstructed view but inexplicably failed to spot the offence.

He might have had a good game overall (I didn't  see enough to comment) but it's decisions like this that can prove  costly at the end of the season.

I don’t think England can be expected to pick this up from his angle - his assistant must be the one to identify and penalise the offence

Indeed, from the first 2 camera angles (which were from behind play) you had no idea what had propelled the ball in. You have to hope your assistant sees it.
The response of the players tells you something may have happened but they havent seen it, so cant penalise it

Maybe the assistant thought, if it did hit his hand, it wasn't deliberate. Problem with woolly wording of some of the Laws.
