Stephen Martin and his over dramatical style
« on: Thu 27 Dec 2018 15:27 »
Is it just me or does Stephen Martin have a refereeing style that looks so dramatic and unnecessary?!

His constant jumping and skipping I find really hard to watch and irritating.

I also find him a big too muscley for a referee, so he obviously works out to get big muscles and it’s obvious that makes him stand out more than the usual referee. Maybe that says something?

Not something I particularly look out for but I personally couldn't care less if he has large muscles, small muscles or no muscles at all. I would recommend looking at his decisions more than his physique and mannerisms - you'll still find plenty to criticise.

Drama does bring with it attention (his signalling of the goal when prompted by his watch was off 1990 mexican referee proportions) and with attention comes inspection. Mike Dean, for a number of years has been (overly) demonstrative but usually right. There the similarities between him and Mr Martin end

Quite.

I recall after a game at Roots Hall in October 2015 that Keith Hill said something like Mr Martin should spend more time improving the accuracy of his decision-making than working out in the gym!
