Slavko Vincic - Man City vs RB Leipzig
« on: Tue 14 Mar 2023 20:24 »
Handball 😂 Cost Leipzig the game. He gets nudged by Rodri into the ball. Never a handball offence. VAR shouldn’t use slow Mo and still images to judge handballs.

Potential foul on the keeper for the second goal- not checked.

Keeper cleans out Werner and booked for diving. The worst first half refereeing performance I ever saw.

How on earth did he not give a foul against the City GK?

Dear me this is awful. Blown for a free kick for everything yet ignored that.

Just given a free kick to City for a Leipzig player being stood on.

AR2 awards a goal kick. Vincic blows and calls it offside. Clearly no offence but ball goes out. Either play advantage or a goal kick.

Restart taken a yard or so outside the 6 yard box

The penalty is soooo harsh. The challenge by Edison is reckless. A couple of poor and crucial decisions.

How can you play advantage if the ball goes out for a goal kick?

Think Vincic confidence was shattered after that var handball intervention.

No, the AR indicated an offside offence.  He waited to see if there was any advantage in playing on, there wasn't so he gave the offside.

You cannot play advantage an any situation where the ball has gone out of play.

I didn't think the Leipzig defender actually touched the ball with his hand or arm, hence his genuine look of bewilderment which I think Vincic picked up on and tried to explain. Not sure about Haaland fouling the Leipzig goalie prior to the City 2nd goal, but how Ederson got away with cleaning the Leipzig player out, I don't know. Something about the goalie getting a knee to the ball first according to the commentator, but the challenge was downright dangerous. Not a good performance from Vincic last night. However, only 2-3 minutes of added time at the end of the game and a good example of Collina's suggested 'mercy ending' if ever there was one!

Yeah it looked to me that he didn’t touch it either and the ball went between the bend of the arm and the elbow

2 major decisions which Vincic cAn only be partially blamed for. I have watched the penalty back 23 times and I cannot see a clear & obvious error, if there is a handball it’s a slight touch and has no reaction time to move his hand away.
City goalie clearly fouls the attacker, not clear and obvious and no intervention

VAR is killing refs and ruining football!!

Agree on the handling, really not sure how that is clear and obvious given that not a single person saw it in real time.  Although FIFA and UEFA do tend to study handling offences a lot more intensely and deem that if the arm is away from the body, the ball its it and the referee misses it there should be a review.  That said, you talk about how he had no time to move his arm away, that isn't really relevant, more the case that he put his arm there in the first place.

It was a very clear foul by Ederson, but VAR cannot get involved in free kicks.  They could only recommend a review if it was SFP or DOGSO, and it was nowhere near either of those, therefore doesn't matter how badly they disagree with the referee's decision, there's nothing they can do about it..

Either a completely wrong offside decision or the restart is taken from the wrong place. Looks like it is a goal kick decision to me.

The ball is already in play by the time the replay finishes
