Simon Hooper - AFCB v Blackburn
« on: Wed 26 Sep 2018 11:49 »
Very quiet game for Mr Hooper & team just the 5 goals, 2 penalties and a red card!

Blackburn had a goal correctly ruled out after 26 seconds for offside, flag was up before the ball hit the back of the net. Both penalties, one for each team were absolutely spot on, foul by Lenihan on Ibe for the one in AFCB's favour and a stupid lunge by Mings on Brereton for the one in Blackburn's favour. Neither club can have any complaint about the penalty against them & as far as I know neither club has complained!! The red card for Blackburn was spot on, Williams was sent for an early bath for deliberately handling a through ball when under pressure from Wilson, easily fell into the DOGSO category. It was very late on 90th min, maybe even in stoppage time, can't remember now. Wilson scored the winner not long after in the 4th min of stoppage time! Saved the hassle of extra time & pens. No questions regarding the amount of time added on when you factor in substitutes, goals, and a red card in the 2nd half.

Fantastic game of football, both teams played some lovely stuff as well as had their moments! Mr Hooper and his team certainly enhanced the game with a superb all round performance. He was certainly relaxed and confident in a ground that he knows he is well liked and respected in and it showed in his performance. In relation to the fitness, there were a couple of moments when I would say he was a bit behind play but overall he was keeping up just fine in a very quick, end to end game. 3 huge decisions to make with the penalties & red card and 100% correct on those. I'm not counting the goal disallowed for offside as his decision as it was the AR that called it.

Well done Mr Hooper & team - you are welcome back anytime!

I like Mr Hooper as a ref, always been fairly impressed with him in the Fulham games he's done (apart from one blip when he sent off Kalas after 30 seconds at Reading, a horrible decision, but we're all allowed a mistake!)
Agree with nearly all you've said there BMB after seeing brief highlights on Sky.  But I thought Mings' lunge for the penalty was a clear red card.  He's flown in two footed, at full force with both feet off the floor.  Clear red. I don't know if he's got away with it because it was in the area, and tackles like that are unusual in the box, and Mr Hooper has been taken off guard, given the penalty, and not taken into account the ferocity of the actual tackle.  Would be interested in the views of others who've seen it?

I'll admit I've never been a fan of Hooper, that said it's good to hear he has had a strong outing on his first game at a PL ground as SG1.

Clearly Bmb is suggesting that Grandad East and Friend should be kept away from the Vitality and their prestige red carpeted parking space should be yielded to Hooper :-p

Have to admit I've not seen it on a replay/on the TV yet so can't comment. My view was not clear enough to know if he was 2 footed off the floor, I was the other end of the ground!
