Sheff Utd v Newcastle - Andy Madley

Absplute rubbish from Madley, never a penalty, how is his hand in an unnatural position? if anything they had a hold of Fernandez shirt

Send Madley back to League 1 with his brother who has also screwed over Newcastle before with a red card v Sunderland when he sent off Coloccini which I believe was recinded.

I think it’s definitely handball (you can see the small movement) but I do think he’s being pulled first.
Red card was correct as well.
Madley has been fair with his decision making and consistent with fouls.

EDIT- once the penalty is given should it not be a red card??

Yeah second yellow was correct.

If he was being pulled first surely its a foul?

Bill Leslie on commentary said because Sharp was not in full control, no further punishment needed, as it was not denying an obvious goal scoring opportunity.

Billy Sharp very lucky just to receive a yellow for his studs up challenge down the achilles of Schar. There have been  a few dismissed for similar this season but VAR did not intervene.
Referee's decision used to be final!

It's a clear foul by Sharp which IMHO has been completely overlooked by the VAR because he's only looking for the penalty.

I don’t think Madley had a particularly good game. Like others newish you SG1 he struts around but doesn’t have the presence of more senior guys. Might come with time. In relation to the penalty, we have all seen them given. One it it’s for you you okay, if it’s against you , not so happy. You win some you lose some.

That’s what I thought - thanks 👍

That's a clear handball.  You even see him look down just before he moved his hand towards the ball, he knew he was in trouble and just swats the ball away.  For me I would say there is a big argument for DOGSO as well, doesn't have control at the time but would do without the handling and certainly ticks all of the other DOGSO considerations.

Come on guys, I think he had a great game! Considering he hasn’t been given many PL games and is new, I thought he handled a difficult game well.

I would be more concerned with Rob Jones as VAR for not getting him to look at the Sharp tackle again!
