The PGMOL have announced that Scott Duncan is retiring from his position as an SG2 referee with immediate effect and he will operate as an EFL observer for season 2021/22.

Happy retirement Scott!

I had a feeling, given his age and length of his injury, that we would be unlikely to see him on the field again. He always seemed a fairly safe pair of hands - good luck for your retirement!

Good luck with his retirement if true, a nice guy who has been unlucky the last few years with injury

I'd sort of guessed that with 4 new faces on the national list that there would potentially be 4 coming off and with Lee Mason and Graham Salisbury confirmed I had Scott as a cert to be one of the others.
I saw him quite a few times in his National League days and was not at all surprised at his promotion. Good luck to him.

I just fear that if there is a 4th name coming off it might be James Adcock.

I saw Scott in his early days in a promotion match at Derby and thought he handled the game very well. I am sorry to see him go and wish him all the best for the future.

I'll get Scott included on my database of 'final games' now that his retirement is official.

I've now put Scott Duncan on my database of Final Games, Nottingham Forest v Barnsley, July 2020, source Soccer Base. Correct me please if this is wrong.

As regards referees coming on and off the list (WelshexRef), I note that Darren Handley is still officially on the list, despite the fact that he didn't referee an EFL game last season. So unless he's doing a 'will he, won't he' act again, I think his name will also be missing when the list of officials is published, hopefully towards the start of next season. I'm not sure whether James Adcock was still on the payroll as a SG2, but I expect his name to be missing from the new list as well.

I'd forgotten about Darren Handley. He was a fairly safe pair of hands when I saw him

Darren Handley failed the fitness test last season.  But as they have made it easier this season he should be back

Always felt in the last few years Scott was past it. But good luck to him for the future
