Ross Joyce Tranmere Rovers v Swindon Town
« on: Sun 20 Jan 2019 15:27 »
A dreadfully inconsistent performance from Mr Joyce. He seemed to penalise minor contact with a foul, yet when Ishmael Miller was battling his way towards goal, a couple of more obvious contacts on him not penalised by Mr Joyce and arguably the failure to protect the player contributed to Miller going off with a hamstring problem shortly after. No errors in key match incidents save perhaps failing to give Adam Buxton a second YC in the 93rd minute, for what Mr Joyce adjudged a dive. My viewpoint had it as one player running into another and if Mr Joyce had been consistent with earlier decisions, might have given the free-kick Buxton's way! Felt the YC to the Swindon keeper at the end of the first half for time-wasting was a bit harsh, the player had gone to retrieve the ball from behind the goal himself, but didn't take the kick quickly enough for Mr Joyce's liking.

The powers-that-be however are. I don't really understand why.

I mentioned this when he was appointed to a championship game. He often feels some games are below him. But, let’s see where he is refereeing next season. My bet is SG2 and I wonder how I know that.

Go on, let us know. I can't wait to find out.
