Ross Joyce, Crewe v Burton
« on: Sat 18 Sep 2021 19:31 »
An emotional return for me this afternoon to Gresty Road for my first visit since March 2020 when Crewe beat Stevenage 3-1 in L2. Nothing seemed to have changed since then apart from the covid testing centre set up in a marquee in the car park (well done for thinking of that) and the sanitising equipment inside the stadium.

I had seen Ross Joyce before and was not disappointed on that occasion nor this. He **** down early on with some robust Burton challenges and an early yellow card was to prove crucial in the 2nd half as Burton went down to 10 men after yet another yellow card. Burton boss Hasselbaink was clearly not impressed as he chewed the ear of the 4O on more than occasion, and he had a point when Ross preferred to issue a final warning to a Crewe player rather than a 2nd yellow, but this was the only inconsistent moment in a creditable performance from Ross and his team. The problems he encountered 3-4 years ago certainly seemed to have been fully overcome

And Crewe won 2-0 to secure their first win of the season. Their lucky mascot from L2 is obviously working wonders already in L1!

Edit - why has the word which is the same as what you pull at Christmas dinner been binned?  Surely it's not a banned word like ******!

Most, if not all, of the **** words were predetermined by the forum hosts, not sure any of us admin staff have actually added any (despite my threats to do so in relation to y****w). c r a c k - common term for a specific type of drug which is probably the reason.

Nice to read this about Ross.

Been following the work he has been doing in relation to abuse towards U18 year old refs and he's really leading the way as an RDO, imo. Really good stuff and seems to be having some positive impact. I've not seen him referee enough to judge him on the pitch but off of it he is a thoroughly nice guy and works his socks off supporting young referees - that I can really respect.
