13th Minute - Missed Yellow - CLEAR yellow for Williams of Forest but Jones decides to talk - really poor, Leicester attacking down touchline into yards of space clear lunge should of been yellow.

He was going into space, but his last touch before he was fouled sent the ball out of play and there was no way he was getting it without the foul.  So can't really be SPA as the attacker caused that himself by kicking it out of play.  Don't think it was reckless either.

Rob Jones been solid so far. Bar the missed YC for Neco Williams which he then gave a minute later. Just given a phantom yellow card to Maddison.

Thoughts on the penalty shout? Looked like a handball but the replays won’t great

I thought Rob was very good tonight, Tried to let the game flow and got involved where he needed to.

Thought it could have been handball though

Very solid from Jones and he has a very bright future in SG1 and FIFA.

Under the current laws Cook's arm was in a perfectly normal position for the action he was making, so no penalty was correct.

I though he did ok, nothing special.

Imo it’s still a missed caution in the 13th minute it’s easy to look for reasons why
He didn’t give it, like the touch was taking it out of play.

But unlike Oliver who in the 2nd minute who was strong and showed yellow for a far
Less cynical foul than tonight game.

OK, so what are you cautioning him for?  Reckless play would be very soft, which means you only have stopping a promising attack.  How can it be stopping a promising attack when his touch has kicked the ball out of play before he was fouled?  Giving a foul away when it would be a defensive throw-in isn't promising attack, it actually improved the promising attack as it resulted in a free kick.

I was at the match. I was impressed by his performance. I don’t intend to dissect each decision others can do that.
I thought overall he was imposing, very fit , moved very freely and tried to let the game flow. I never thought his authority was challenged as he kept a tight rein on the game. Looked to me on the performances I have seen I think he looks a Premier League natural who will just continue getting better.

I thought he was excellent, a potentially challenging game dealt with expertly.

The penalty claim was the correct decision, however could have caused him some issues as for some reason it was shown on the screen in the ground prior to the VAR check.

I’ve seen Jones several times this season now and have to say I’ve been impressed every time.

I'm very glad Observeref8 didn't observe any of my matches as clearly, judging from his posts, extremely exacting standards would be employed ( perhaps correctly ) and I fear I would have come nowhere near up to the mark !

I thought he had a very good game but that was a straightforward caution, Williams was nowhere near attempting to play the ball. he could have made a rod for his own back but quickly cautioned him minutes later, presumably for persistent misconduct as the actual foul he gave was a bit soft.

He was good overall except penalty for arm clearly outstretched and high and missed yellow early on to manage the derby. 7.8 from the observer overall

You do realise that a 7.8 means one clear and important error, otherwise 8.0 to 8.2, and by clear and important error they mean an incorrect key match decision (KMD).  Average 7.8 at the end of the season and you would be marooned at the bottom of the merit table by some distance as it essentially means you have made in an incorrect KMD in every game and shouldn't be at that level.  Under previous laws that could be a penalty, but not under this season's as his arm was where it would be expected for the action he was making, so nowhere near an incorrect KMD.

The marking scale can be seen here if anyone is interested.  Essentially you start on 8.3, an incorrect KMD drops you to 7.9.  A 7.8 would be a satisfactory performance with small areas for improvement along with one incorrect KMD.  The majority of marks are 8.3 and 8.4, to get over 8.4 you need to have correctly made big decisions and not got anything wrong, to get 9 or over you need to have incriminating photos of the observer 😂

Given that the PGMOL operate an evaluation scheme that operates in percentages and not UEFA style 7.0-9.0 markings this is clearly false.

Having watched the game on the tele like most of the other posters I felt that he had a very good game in a big match. Got everything spot on and judged his involvement throughout. Let it flow where he could and stepped in when necessary.

P.S. Also in agreement with earlier posters that Neco Williams’ challenge before the handball offence couldn’t be SPA as Barnes’ touch past him clearly went out of play and not “into space”.
