A very sad announcement today that Droylsden FC has found the present situation impossible with no income stream and has resigned from the Northern Premier League.

There must be fears that others will be obliged to follow.

Indeed many a good spring/summer spent at the butchers arms, and Dave pace is such a nice guy too. A big loss to the community.
FC Oswestry have also resigned from the NWCFL despite winning the premier division last year!

The website of the Golcar Lily pub tells us that John Betjeman (him again!) stood outside and compared the view to Provence. Even allowing for the Mistral in that region, it indicates what a powerful imagination he must have had.

Or perhaps it merely testifies as to the strength of the brew on offer therein.

It has taken a while to conduct the research, but I finally lunched there today. I can confirm that the extensive view is both appealing and impressive. The resemblance to Provence, however, was not apparent either to me or my guests.
