Does anyone have details of removals from L3/L4? Be it for retirement, demotion or any other reason.

Congratulations to all who have been promoted & good luck at your new levels next season.

Dorset appears to have not fared well in terms of referees for promotion, wonder why that is?

Neither has East Riding - No L4 promotions this year

It can happen, if you get a good number of people at the right age coming through together you can get a bumper year. But if there's a year with not so many young ones then you can get a gap, then you can get years with comparatively few.

Can just come down to geography.  Presumably there are only a certain number of supply league clubs within the Dorset area so they can't promote more referees than they need otherwise they won't get enough games.  Same for contrib leagues, they only need a certain number of assistants every Saturday and midweek.

Quite simply a lack of people going for it. I think only 2 went for L4 this year. Also relatively few L4s on the Wessex (compared to Hampshire) so quite difficult to get off there. Not many L6s coming through to L5 that I'm aware of so may not improve in the near future but lots of young L7s moving to L6 this year so hopefully it'll improve in the next few seasons.

Nice to hear about the L7 - L6, we have some 'youngsters in training' then so the future should bode well. I'm sure it can't help where Dorset as a county is split between 2 FA's, some of the local leagues come under Hants not Dorset, they seem to run roughly along the old county borders that were changed I guess 40 odd years ago now. Makes Dorset potentially as much as 1/3rd smaller than it actually is, in terms of what area comes under Hants instead. Probably fits in more with Rusty Ref comment above.

Exactly right DTR. A bit of a lull in Dorset as a result of slower recruitment over the last 4-5 years. However, this has picked up in the last 18 months or so and the future looks bright.

Only one on to the list of new L4's but he'll do very well from what I've seen. No surprise the second candidate didn't make the grade again but think there may be a few more names this time next year.

I think the bigger issue is the lack of coaching opportunities within Dorset. Many referees deferred away from one particular coach who then had to defect across the border because no one wanted to work with him! Shame really!

Will be interesting to see how many of the Hampshire candidates promoted onto the Wessex League will be able to retain their position after 2 seasons, as the county seems to produce many "Yo-Yo" referees....... Mind you the level fours in the Wessex area all play the promotion lottery to try and get promoted, so maybe some of the 'Yo-Yoers" going back to 4 might play that game... often means the best level 4s don't get promoted mind...  ::)

So Dorset is still a bit of a mess then!

I'm very out of touch with what goes on there now my footballing involvement has moved about 1300 miles southeast of Dorset! I enjoy the new life and the new involvement I have now but I do miss knowing the ins and outs in Dorset & Hants!

Are we likely to find out this week who has been promoted to the EFL now that the National League season has finished?

Does anyone have details of removals from L3/L4? Be it for retirement, demotion or any other reason.

Anyone in possession of demotion list from levels 3 & 4, please PM.

Demotion lists are never sent out ( probably rightly so)

We only know who has been demoted when we get the lists sent our for next season, which is not normally until end of June
