Promotions 2023
« on: Wed 03 May 2023 11:56 »
As the end of the football season is nearly upon us and play-offs are starting to commence, I thought it would be a great time to get the topic ready for any announcements of referee promotions up and down the pyramid.

Good luck to all referees and for those who miss out this year, keep that chin up and go for it again next year.

Contributors to this topic obviously welcome  :)

Seems likely Darren Bond and Tim Robinson get promoted to replace Scott and Marriner. Josh Smith may as well.

Ruebyn Ricardo - very assured in his recent trial match at Crewe Alex.

I wonder if Ladbrokes will take a modest bet on this young man becoming a FIFA referee ? Mind you, I should have placed it when I met him about five seasons ago and were so impressed with his maturity, attitude and demeanour.

Referee Promotions to the EFL
« Reply #5 on: Tue 09 May 2023 13:24 »
From looking at the appointments in the National League and the retirements from the EFL, these seem likely to be promoted to the EFL next season:-

Matt Corlett
Daniel Middleton
Lewis Smith
Ruebyn Ricardo - *2B
Scott Tallis
Scott Simpson
* Ed Duckworth
* Scott Jackson
* Farai Hallam - 2B

Most of the above have had trial games in the EFL and have done reasonably well from all accounts. Matt Corlett has the National League play off final on Saturday and Lewis Smith did a Championship match last weekend so there’s two as shoe ins already.

Be interesting to see other views on this list.

Based purely on the performances I have witnessed personally I'd be horrified if Mr Duckworth came within shouting distance of the National List

Manchester fa have already announced promotions up to level 4
These will be nominations to the FA for Level 4 not actual promotions as the FA will announce them later in the month I expect

Having seen Lewis smith who was very good and ed duckworth who was struggling to be very bad there was an absolute chasm between the two, I’m actually surprised that mr duckworth gets near to  national premier tbh .they certainly shouldn’t both be mentioned in the same breath.

Four of the nine names you mention have done around 40 National League games between them in their entire careers.

Farai Hallam's 8+ years working for the FA before now being employed by the Premier League won't have held him back.

Having said that, he was very good, in a minimum intervention sort of way, in the play-off between Chelmsford and St Albans.

Level 4 nominations have also been announced for Kent.

The FA have said that they expect reclassifications to be published week of 22nd May, this is through our regional representative.

He could be the next Michael Oliver…

How old is Mr Ricardo? Good to see some very positive comments on here about him.
