When Bobby was in his exile in Norway, he was quite active on Twitter. I had a few jovial exchanges with him, which led to us swapping a small number of DMs.

We both know a SG2 assistant, which helped, but at no time were his dealings with me arrogant or dismissive. He was very open to discussions and had a sound recall of some games I mentioned to him.

I've seen him referee four games since he returned, albeit three of him via iFollow during the behind closed door seasons. While he wasn't faultless and made some poor decisions, it was clear his presence afforded him a greater deal of respect from the players, which certainly helped the games.

Of course, others have different views, but there are some incredibly harsh, personal comments on this thread which may have been deleted or edited on a different day.

I wish him well and am only sorry I'm unlikely to see him more often in future.

Agree completely. I thought he was the best referee to officiate at Portman Road last season by the proverbial country mile.

And I am sure Newport continue to regard his performance in the Division 2 play off final at Wembley v Morecambe last year with anger. A tale of 2 penalties if you recall

I do, but if we base everything on one game, no referee would ever get anywhere.
