I am a few days late with this but I am delighted to see James Bell promoted to the National List.  I met him at a North West Counties game at New Mills that he was officiating what seems a very short time ago when my son was on the line.  Had James not been promoted from L3 that season he would have had to choose whether to specialise as a referee or an assistant.  This could have been his final middle since he was already an FL assistant.  As a result his parents were there too so it was quite a family affair.  Of course promotion came his way and just weeks later and he bowed out on the line in the League Two Play Off Final at Wembley.  I chatted at length to him after the game and found him to be a really nice chap.  My wife concurred, although given the choice she made in marriage that might not be a great recommendation!
