Mr Webb first / 2nd set of appointments
« on: Sun 18 Dec 2022 21:21 »
So I expect he will release this weekends and prob Boxing Day together, do we think he might make some rapid changes, or maybe just spring one or two surprises early on ??

From the stats in MLS last season he gave:

5 Refs a MLS Trial / Chance

1 Game - Kevin Broadley (who I think will be promoted to MLS list this season.

1Game - Malik Badawi

3 Games - Filip Dujic

3 Games - Mark Allatin (Named Ref of Year outside MLS

4 Games also to US Naive Matthew Congar but that was prep for the World Cup.

So it shows Webb has followed in what his come through with trial games.

I would love him to Carry that on here, but I’m sure:

Rob Madley
Josh Smith
Tim Robinson

Will be given some sort of trial game /s this season, and don’t be shocked if Sunny Gill also gets a look in.

What changes do you think will happen ? And anything radical ??

I think refs will be given more freedom to relax, but listening to interviews Webb done for MLS he will stress the key importance of getting the KMI 💯 spot on.

Well looking at the championship appointments, Barrott, Toner and now Nield and Backhouse have all been given games. Same with 3/4 refs used in EFL trophy matches from the national league and Lewis Smith in league 2. I certainly hope this trend starts in the PL under Webb. Refs like Linington would be great to step up and do a handful of games per season to take the pressure off. I also hope he doesn’t see the need for Oliver and Taylor to be used weekly on the live telly games too haha
