Coote ….. bar a couple the overall identify of SFP has gone awful levels now, the challenge in real time screams red.

But good to see under Webb leadership they seem like they will call out the bad decisions very similar to what they did in MLS.

Coote needs to start getting the card out now.

Brilliant this is exactly the kind of transparency that the PL has badly needed.  It is a shame ( unless I missed it ) that they didn’t clarify the Rashford goal in the Manchester derby but nonetheless this a small step in the right direction what Webb is trying to do is still a work in progress but after this I’m more convinced than ever Webbs plan that he is beginning to implement is going to be a major success

Well I hope you are right; it would be good to believe so. However, Coote being appointed to Everton v Arsenal this week-end doesn't exactly fill me with confidence that there is going to be any consequence for such very obvious errors. Swarbrick was the VAR for the Brighton Liverpool match, perhaps he hasn't got his eye in sufficiently well yet as to when to advise an on field referee they have made a potentially serious error and need to review.

Well personally I'm still happy with the Rashford decision (both as a Utd fan and a referee), so no clarification needed...

But unfortuanately in this modern world we live, I think though the intention is good, don't expect anything monumental. Confirming a player should have been sent off in a cup tie his team lost is one thing, but giving/not giving a goal for a team that goes onto be relegated/win the league is probably opening up themselves to some kind of liability, and possible legal action (however unlikely to succeed it is). Same arguments as to why refs don't talk after games.

Only solution to this would be to get all clubs to agree (legally) to some sort of no complaint procedue that let refs (or PGMOL) talk openly without fear of ramifications

As part of a drive for transparency within PGMOL, the organisation has privately let it be known there was enough evidence to warrant a red card.
Why not make the statement openly if you want transparency?

I've just seen the challenge and that's a red card every day of the week, from the video I watched Coote had a good, decent enough, view to see that so why is he not showing a red

The truth is that many more are not happy with the Rashford incident, in fact there is a lot of confusion. When ex players and referees are also on record as claiming to be baffled then it is a decision which would seem to merit an explanation, if only to clarify the thinking behind the decision that he was not interfering with play. I feel the PGMOL have missed a chance there and as soon as an incident occurs where a player in a similar offside position is deemed interfering then it will only compound the confusion

This error had no impact on the final result as Brighton still won. The Utd game is different as the decision affected the result - from those that I have spoken to within the professional game (referees and observers) everyone considers the Rashford decision incorrect - that’s why there has been no official / unofficial statement - also need to factor in that Michael Oliver was VAR on the Utd game - wouldn’t be considered ideal to admit our “top referee” made a major mistake on a key game

Webb went on sky and was, imo, pretty non committal either way about whether the decision was right or wrong.
Said that it had caused division of opinion between all stakeholders including the PGMO group.
What he said was that the no offside was justifiable with the way the law was written but that the better decision would have been offside based on feedback from rereeing community and that it could be stretched to say that ederson was impacted by rashford....
Not a direct quote the video is out there somewhere but that was my take away
