VAR in Italy
« on: Fri 23 Nov 2018 14:36 »
Earlier this week two hierarchs of Italian refereeing, Marcello Nicchi and Nicola Rizzoli, met representatives of the clubs in Serie A.   At this meeting Rizzoli apparently stated that in the 120 fixtures completed so far there had been precisely seven avoidable mistakes connected with the use of VAR, five of which arose from a failure to resort to the monitor when this, in Rizzoli's view, would have been appropriate.  You may make of this what you will.  Some may find the self-proclaimed precision impressive, whereas I find it merely puzzling.
