I think that might have just about crossed the line - they even seem to give the throw-in to the wrong team!

Does not happen very often up here, I can honestly only think of one other example of the top of my head and coincidentally it was in the exact same goalmouth in 1993.

Les Mottram was the ref that day, though from memory it did not matter too much as United won 4-0 or 5-0 anyway.

Reminds me of a game I attended at Highfield Road in 1980 between Coventry City and Crystal Palace.  Clive Allen's shot hit the stanchion of the goal and bounced out again.  The referee, Mr D Webb, was one of the few in the ground who hadn't seen the 'goal' and played on.  Coventry were 2-1 up at the time and went on to win 3-1.  Unfortunately for the referee, MOTD cameras were there and his error was seen by millions.  The incident did result in the design of goal stanchions being changed, I believe.

I saw it happen in 2003 in a Conference game between Doncaster Rovers and the old Telford United. A Telford player hit a shot from distance into the top corner and the ball went in and bounced straight out. The referee, Steve Brand, didn't see it go in and let play continue. So while Telford's players celebrated Rovers carried on and almost scored up the other end!

The goal wasn't given but justice was done as Telford won 3-1. In the recent instance I can't really understand how all the officials have missed the fact the ball was clearly over the line.
