P TIERNEY - Newcastle v Southampton (EFL)

Pretty easy stuff for Tierney in the dreadful orange outfit…

Appears a red card was brandished to a member of the Soton bench at half time for foul and abusive language.

Good work from VAR giving a RC to Bruno. Horrendous tackle.

Definite red for Bruno and the ban will apply in the EFL not the Premier League if I’m correct?

Well done var but can’t help but think it shows the inconsistencies with it after the Liverpool game

Indeed, but again should Tierney not be seeing that on the field ?

According to Sky Sports he is banned for three matches but he will be available for the final - I also thought it only applied to the cup if you was sent off in it - hopefully someone can say for definite

I thought Tierney was excellent no blame attached for not producing RC until VAR intervened as even I didn’t think RC at first until I saw the replays and followed his last outing where was excellent aswell . Good to see Darren England on VAR advise Tierney to take a look as someone correctly on another thread said Darren England seems to struggle with SFP when he is on VAR duty hopefully Webb has encouraged him

  • Referee Level: Retired for years!

I think that red cards apply across the board and he will be suspended for PL games etc. It is the accumulation of yellow cards which only apply to the competition in which they are given ---I could be wrong but think that this changed in 2019.
Referee's decision used to be final!

That's right. Only the EFL Trophy has its suspensions for red cards served within its own competition.

Yet the same punishment was not meted out to the Newcastle players when lambasting the referee and AR over various decisions.

Why wasn't there a further card for Guimares after having been shown the RC as he obviously said something to Tierney given Tierney's facial stunned reaction?

Didn’t Tierney take the same on field action as Coote did? It was England who’s helped Tierney out?

Anything he said can be reported but I dont think you can be shown another card after a red?
